3 Things I did to Become my own Boss – How To Climb The Ladder of Success Successful Entrepreneurs are not born, they are people who must climb the proverbial corporate ladder and create their own success. You don’t start out on top, you work your way up to that point. Career Growth takes strategic business planning that starts from day one. If you want to be your own boss and one day and call the shots, then here are three tips that you should consider.

1. Set A Strategic Plan In Motion Have you ever seen someone whose career bounces around like a pinball in a pinball game? You must have a strategic plan to get where you want to be. Sure, everything is not always going to go the way you want or anticipate. However, you can make adjustments to your plan as needed. Your long-term plan should start with where you are now and where you want to be. Document

the interim steps that you need to take to get there. Think of it as a timeline of success. Be sure to cross off milestones as they occur, and always, keep your eye on the prize.

2. Back Yourself With Education Almost all corporate executives have education or experience going for them, sometimes both. You want to make sure that you have the proper education in today’s competitive job market. Companies want those who have education and experience to help make informed decisions. Those who are at the top are there for a reason. Not only are they not afraid to work hard, but they have the skills that allow them to lead the troop. How can you possibly lead others if you don’t know what you are doing yourself? Remember, knowledge is power.

3. Network Continually Before social media, networking had to be done the old-fashioned way. Now, networking with other business executives is easier than ever before. If there is a specific company or trade that you want to be in, then you need to network with the people that can help get you there. The old saying that it is not what you know, but who you know has great merit. You can have the skills and the education, but a company will almost always hire someone on the recommendation of someone inside. Develop an inside relationship with those who have already climbed the ladder of success. They can help pull you up a little quicker. Additionally, networking should not stop when you get the job of your dreams. Career growth is not an overnight process. It takes some people years or even decades to get where they want to be. If you want to work for yourself and be your own boss, then you need to be willing to work hard to do so. Successful Entrepreneurs don’t start out in management positions or as the CEO, they start at the bottom with all the other workers. It is their hard work, dedication, and business planning that eventually separates them from the rest.
