Clinical Commissioning Group cuts all funding for Day Care at the Glebe The Glebe Daycare Needs You!

Crich Glebe Field Centre has been providing daycare facilities, for the elderly and socially isolated in the community, for almost 20 years. The Daycare Centre has a dedicated and committed staff, and operates 4 days a week. It provides its clients with companionship, a hot meal, and access to other vital services provided at the Glebe. It also allows the clients’ carers much needed respite.

This service is now under threat following the immediate withdrawal of funding from the South Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group. The costs of running the Daycare Centre have been mostly met by external funding from Derbyshire County Council (DCC), the CCG, and its predecessors. DCC have never increased the amount they put in; the CCG’s predecessor made a minimal increase several years ago. In the spring, both funders invited The Glebe to apply for future support. On Thursday 22nd September, the CCG told the Glebe that funding would stop at the end of the month - 8 days notice!

The Trustees and Management of the Glebe are determined to find ways to continue this crucial service in Crich, and are appealing to the community for help. The Glebe provides a huge range of services and activities for people of all ages, and many of these are inter-linked, so any reduction in funding could impact on other services. We are looking to tap into the skills that undoubtedly reside in the community, and would ask you to volunteer these to help us keep Daycare going; we may all need it eventually!

We are constantly looking for new funding opportunities.

To keep Daycare going, per week from each

we need to raise just 43p household in the parish.

We would really appreciate any ideas, offers of help, coffers full of money! See back page for contact details

The Glebe is a vital, and integral hub of the community. In the recent Neighbourhood Plan survey, nearly 50% of the respondents said they use the Glebe more than once a month - only the shops and post office were visited more. Among services available at the Glebe are: Personal care - including Daycare, the Luncheon Club, Hairdresser, Chiropodist, Optician, & Hearing Clinic.

For Children - including Baby Clinic, Pre-school, & Toy Library

For Leisure - including Yoga, Serenity Yoga, Line Dancing, Ballroom/Latin/Sequence Dancing, Indoor Bowls, Table Tennis, Live & Local live performances, Private Parties, & Dances.

For Meetings - including Crich Parish Council, Crich Heritage Partnership, Slimming World, St Mary’s Mothers Union, Trefoil Guild, Fritchley with Crich WI.

For Hire - including Conferences, Meetings, Away Days, Training Days, Fund-raising events, Weddings and Parties.

What can I do? We are looking for ideas, your skills, time, and money to both challenge the CCG decision, but also to find and secure sustainable future funding. The kind of skills we particularly need include: ● Fund-raisers ● Funding providers ● Website designers ● Experienced social media users

“The Daycare Centre provides a vital link to the outside world …my mother enjoys her visits, it helps to keep her mind active and stimulated”
