Building structure practice: large-span wooden structure model making
Rough, Brutalism, Biological Narrative, Mystery, Form My dream is to be a paper architect and a paper draftsman
If the boundaries of architecture are widened by science and technology If a line can really become an infinite number of compartments If a circle can hold the human life of the whole world
then as an architect There is nothing wrong with "talking on paper"
I pursue poetry and feel the environment; I am obsessed with details, forget food and sleep; I listen to facts, criticize and struggle; In my eyes, architecture is the epitome of the spiritual world
I'm an idealistic daydreamer Could also be a realistic polite worker
Architecture on paper is pure But I still long for the day when the light shines Because the change and touch at that moment is the most fascinating thing

Project type: Architecture of Consciousness
Location: Human consciousness terminal Time: 2020.10
The technological development of human society has reached a very high level quietly, and emerging concepts such as the Internet of Everything and artificial intelligence have begun to integrate into our lives.
Technology, in modern civilized society, is the most important doubleedged sword in human hands. It can determine the normal life of mankind, and it can also start to touch the future destiny of mankind.
Strong artificial intelligence will definitely appear and will be able to solve all the problems that we can encounter or even imagine in our lives. Human beings no longer need to worry about survival.
Strong artificial intelligence may dominate mankind in the reverse direction, and the world we live on is no longer familiar; or maybe we have given up working hard for survival and want to live longer, no matter what the reason, as people When machine interaction reaches a certain level, human beings will begin to abandon the limitations of physical birth, aging, sickness and death, upload their self-consciousness to the cloud, and realize the immortality of consciousness.
The technological singularity will soon come, and human society will enter a new generation. In terms of human settlements, looking at the development history of world architecture, from the initial caves to the current 3D printing buildings, from nature to sophisticated technology, human beings and nature are becoming more and more disconnected and relying more and more on technology.
When the development of technology can provide human beings with a second option for survival: when consciousness is immortal, it may be the most important evolution of human life. We have changed from a mortal body to a mess of code, the "architecture of our lives "It is equal to ourselves.

01.
Human
Although we don’t know if we can still be called human beings, if we want to continue to live in the conscious world, we still need to communicate with the outside world. After the brain and the machine are connected, the world will be shared in the cloud.
Consciousness forever does not mean living in nothingness. Self-consciousness needs to have a specific form of existence, including internal and external, and needs to interact with other consciousness, abandon language, and realize a new generation of communication mode.
In the future, strong artificial intelligence or "architects" will design consciousness carriers for humans who need this service.
4
This project starts from myself, analyzes the content that needs to appear in the consciousness carrier of the new human, uses the cube as the prototype to conduct self-memory mining and personality characterization, and combines two-dimensional illustrations and threedimensional space design and combination to complete my own consciousness Carrier.
04. A consciousness carrier in the form of a cube Consciousness component,an d the cube similar with me
05. Personality Character Illustration
06. Personal experience illustration
I made the illustrations of my own experience into 3D according to the logic of the story, and connected with the personality characteristics.
There will be two kinds of relationships: experience forms personality, and personality creates experience. After that, the 30 personal experiences were sorted according to the importance of the connection with personality characteristics, from the most superficial display surface to the innermost deep memory, showing the complexity of my self-consciousness.
After determining the logic of the connection between the experience on the plane and the personality, arranged the three-dimensional model of the experience in each layer in chronological order. According to the principle of the standard cube expansion surface, I placed the experience of sharing a personality feature to Corresponding positions, complete the cube expansion of each floor, and the personality characteristics as the ground paving, combined with the three-dimensional model of each experience.
The two corresponding relationships between personality characteristics and experience are represented by the reversal of the figure bottom relationship. The upper layer is the experience leading to personality, and the lower layer is the opposite.

A very important aspect of this project is communication with the outside world. In my vision, although human beings will condense their consciousness into personalized devices in the future, they still need to interact with important people in their lives. Therefore, there is still an entrance and exit in the extremely personalized and crazy space. It represents the communication channel between the human being behind the abandonment of the flesh and the world.
After I built the cube of each layer, found out the part of the irregular space elements that was suitable to be the "entrance" of this layer. It could be a curled plate or a huge gap. It needs to have a A very important feature-it can be closed, because we will have different levels of welcome to people who come to our consciousness, and their closeness with me will determine which level of space they can enter.

In this virtual space, guests will exist in a state of being both physical and emptiness. It may be the simplest spherical shape in my experience illustration, or it may be any other shape.
No matter what they look like, they will be my last witness as a human species.

Community Displaced Artist Project type: Residential area design
2030
Location: Dahuan Railway, Chaoyang District, Beijing, China
Time: 2020.5
War destroys art, but also gives birth to the new art.
When realism replaced romanticism, and artists no longer sang about the war heroes or spirits, but turned to depict and shout its cruelty, the historical image of artists has been greatly sublimated. They were incarnated as recorders of war and an important force to promote peace. The new art (postwar art) has still been alerting people to reflect on war and yearn for peace.
In the inevitable trend of urban development, artists, as a vulnerable group, are constantly confronted with the demolishment of art districts. Throughout history, it is unsurprising to note that when a city or a society suffers changes, fights, or wars, the artists will not stand idle by, but always yearn for a peaceful world, and call on others in their own way both as recorders in war or antiwar ambassadors.
Built in 1958, Beijing Circular Railway covers a total area of 64 hectares, with a 38-kilometer-long railway and scientific research laboratory. People’s Republic of China, quite poverty-stricken since its founding, launched the Great Leap Forward Movement in 1956 when the steelmaking, and construction and repair of damaged railway were the national main tasks. In October 1956, Circular Railway started its construction and officially opened to traffic in 1958.
A large number of old warehouses, old bungalows and ruins in the area have attracted new artists since 2005. In 2017, the Huantie Art City was closed, which indicated that artists had to start a new journey.
In the circular railway, another plot similar to the demolished art city plot was selected as the target plot for design.
2. The difference sets formed by the interior and the circles are divided into two areas; the southern area for ordinary residents, on the back of which is an area for artists.
1. The contour-based shape of the ring railway area is extracted and applied into the project plot to form internal and external areas.
In the late 1980s, Old Summer Palace in the western suburb of Beijing welcomed a group of young artists—innovators and pioneers who were eager to shake off shackles of outdated system for independent creation, with open arms. It was on the historical ruins there that they planted the seeds of art in new era. However, since the Artist Village in Old Summer Palace was notified to close, and the old art districts were demolished, and replaced by new ones, artists in Beijing were forced to walk on a long “migration” journey.
4. The similar design is adopted in the living area in the southern plot, and spiral parking buildings are placed at the intersection of the walls for artists and residents.
3. A giant wall set up on the outer contour of dividing area can emphasize the difference between the two living areas and strengthen a sense of space.
6. What’s more, the circles are enlarged, of which the intersection forms the roads through the northern community and the southern living area, connecting the various areas.
5. Residential buildings will be placed at the intersection of these circles placed in an arc-shaped manner, and divided into the southern side with arc greening design for ordinary residents and the northern side for artists.
7. The delta-shaped area at the southernmost end of the plot, which is independent of the river, will be designed as an art island, with art museums, libraries, sculpture parks and other art buildings, uniting the artists and ordinary residents in the whole community.
The most special place where these artists used to settle down, Beijing Circular Railway Area, is chosen as the project site.
It seems like a Crop Circle, compared with the boxy urban construction style of Beijing. Axisymmetric to the Summer Palace with Beijing’s central axis, it is 13.5 km far from the Tiananmen Square in terms of the straight-line distance. Besides it is the mark indirectly left by the Japanese War of Aggression against China.
The 54-meter-high brick wall rises straight up, dividing different living areas in an extreme single form, but the north and south sides, basically identical, fail to echo with the dual characters of the residential buildings.
On the side of serving the ordinary residents in the north, a terracebackwards commercial center is designed and equipped with multistep greening and pedestrian footpath, which can reflect the relaxed atmosphere of green life and the fully-fledged handy service system.
Towards the south is a large searchlight-like steel cable installation on the wall for artists’ living area. Many steel cables from the top of the high wall show irregular streamline shapes in an enclosed area on the ground, reflecting the artists’ unique and deconstructive life concept and style.
As the only place in the whole community where artists and residents can have interaction in life, the art island should be multi-functional. For artists, this is the place where they can give full play to their talent by drawing freely on the blank walls, or working at the art academy. Besides ordinary residents can enjoy themselves thoroughly and cultivate artistic edification to kill time in sculpture park, libraries or art galleries.

The living area is unique in the design of “two sides” for each building. The common residential building style features better lighting in the south, and the northern part, composed of exposed frame structure, is available for artists’ transformation according to their preferences and needs. The enclosed open space near the residential side is designed with a small park as shown in the right figure.
The parking structure is divided into two parts, the front and back areas, with two different ramps to each floor. The gray area in front and the red area at the back serve the ordinary residents and artists respectively. The middle is divided by walls and equipment rooms, and vehicles of two different groups can be parked on each floor.

Project type: Modular hospital
Location: Beach along the Ganges in Varanasi, India
Time: 2020.08
Starting from the old tuberculosis in the Neolithic Age, thousands of viruses, one of the biggest stumbling blocks in the human normal social life, have easily swept the world and claimed many innocent lives.
India, with the second largest population which accounts for 18% of the world’s total population, saw the extremely serious COVID-19 infection.
Countless Hinduism souls have been nurtured by Ganges, the cradle of Indian civilization, but their ancient piety was only given serious water pollution in return, and could only play a negative role in the spread of epidemic in India.
Varanasi, the holy city on the banks of the Ganges, has many corpse burning altars. Across the Ganges, there is the huge sand beach where people can reach on boat.
Facing Varanasi and the city behind, there are many hospitals and small clinics. The shoal is the spatial junction of the medical systems on both sides of the Ganges. The project aims to build a medical building on the beach equipped with water purification and modern patient care systems, to change the current situation in India.
According to the chart, the epidemic in India has entered the remission period after the huge outbreak, and all the numbers have been falling. Even so, the large population base and the defects in medical and health care still necessitate changes.
Since the site is located at a shoal along the river, a lightweight building is designed to manage well tide rises and falls. Besides, the traditional modular design of mobile hospital is adopted to receive patients from both sides easily. In this way, each ward is regarded as a single cabin, and the transportation system used in cargo transportation is added to facilitate patients transfer between the single hospital and combination. The cabin is transferred to the building by truck or transport vessel.
A central control building is set at the junction of each two ward areas. The first floor is used for crosswise steel pusher maintenance and replacement area, and the second floor is equipped with an outdoor terrace, above which the ward cabin can pass through the central control building. The staff on the second floor can inspect, disinfect and maintain the cabin on the terrace.
The vertical grab is adopted in transport system to grab the cabin, drive the cabin to move on the main road of the lateral moving track to reach the secondary main road by rotating 90 degrees with the direction changing installation. Then it will be pushed to the terrace outside the access for medical personnel after falling a certain height. Through the transportation system, the cabin can be transferred freely among multiple hospital combinations.

Project type: Architecture of Human Body Location: The endless sea Time: 2019.12
One hundred years after the 2012 Doomsday hypothesis, science and technology has become increasingly advanced. Humans have gradually realized that extinction may occur from within their community, via artificial intelligence, wars, viruses.
However, the innocent, kind, and harmless animals may survive. Therefore, the “Human Museum” was built to imprison some animals with high IQs to hand them over the task of preserving human civilization. The internal space and exhibits of the museum exhibition hall are all human organs whose sizes have been changed by various ratios to make the characteristics of the internal space of the exhibition hall consistent with the habits of the selected animals so that the halls are suitable for their survival.
Humans are extinct due to viruses: The virus has repeatedly caused painful memories in human history. There are still no vaccine for some viruses while the new types of viruses are emerging.
Humans are extinct due to the war: After World War II, humans have realized the absolutely destructive power of nuclear weapons. If the terrorists got the nuclear weapons, it would trigger the nuclear war, leaving humans nowhere to escape.
Humans are extinct due to technology: The development of science and technology is about to usher in a technological singularity. The world after the singularity will be a new era. Humans may abandon physical limitations and realize immortality of consciousness, or they may be directly eliminated by super artificial intelligence.
Chicken: One of the six domestic animals with a domestication history of 4000 years. Roosters crow once every hour during the day and never make mistakes.
Living in the space made from artificial sensory organs with large volume. The cavity inside the organ serves as their nest.
Their mission is to memorize the arrangement of the route of the internal pipes in organs.
Living in the space formed by the artificial liver, spleen, lung muscle layer, and use the existing trachea, arteries and veins as channels, and the internal chambers of organs as caves.
Their mission is to memorize the arrangement the tubular organs.
Living in the space formed by the artificial heart muscle layer. Their water source is the river made from artificial blood, and their nest is the heart chamber with aorta as the channel.
Their mission is to memorize the route of blood vessels in human heart.
Their living environment includes a tree with artificial human body, a grass field composed of artificial human skin fragments.
Their mission is to pick up artificial skin fragments to build a nest according to the frame of the tree in the shape of a human body.
Their living environment is a parrot cage similar to that in a zoo, with lots of speakers around.
Their mission is to be able to repeat most of the human language by listening to the recordings played regularly every day.
Their living environment includes the artificial vascular system, intestines, trachea, larynx immersed in the nutrient solution, and all tubular organs except the main organs.
Their mission is to memorize the arrangement of these tubular organs.
Their living environment includes large human bones with cavity inside (octopuses are eager to hide in hollow utensils)
Their mission is to restore the organs with cavity inside mentioned above based on their memories.
They are timekeeper, and providing time reference for the entire operating cycle of the museum.
Sheep: One of the six domestic animals, and also the earliest domestic animals raised by humans. After a long period of domestication, sheep becomes quiet and docile and has completely been attached to humans.
Pig: One of the six domestic animals, with a domestication history of about 8000 years. Their ancestor is the ferocious wild boar.
Raised in closed captivity, provides food sources for new humans.

Horse: The last to be domesticated among the six domestic animals. They appeared between 5000 and 6000 years ago. Horses in different regions have different ancestors.
Horses are raisevd in closed captivity, providing expedition vehicles for new humans.
Dog: One of the six domestic animals, and the first one to be domesticated. They are the most loyal friend of mankind.
Dogs are raised in closed captivity, serving as loyal friends for new human beings.
To connect the hulls and build a skin grid
There is a huge number of kind and innocent animals in nature. Before the extinction of human, we can design a special building for them with space suitable to live, and assign them some “tasks” to let them “learn” the knowledge about humans in different ways and finally revive human civilization. This building can be called "Human Museum".
In this way, I try to create a large reversed Show with architectural design as background for people to watch, in which there are the reversed roles: animals observe, learn and inherit human civilization in the space designed for them. The deeper meaning is that although humans rely on the animals to revive their civilization, the animals are ultimately imprisoned by us here, which does not conform to the laws of nature and will eventually collapse.
What if ... some very smart animals can help us leave something about humans?
It requires an initial number of human beings revived by the museum, which is also related to how many sets of organs and animals are needed in this system.
Uomo Vitruviano, the sketch created by Leonardo da Vinci around 1487, is regarded as the male body with perfect proportion. Similarly, many descendants have also promoted the female body with perfect proportion.
Obviously, the man in the sketch has 16 different postures. This figure coincides with such a perfect human body. Therefore, prepared 32 sets of organs for 32 people (16 males and 16 females) in Human Museum, who will show up as new humans inheriting the perfect proportion in the future.
The dots of different numbers on the elevation on the right correspond to the dots around the animals on the left. In the entire museum, the chimpanzee area is located at the top, followed by the mouse area, then the area for ants and raccoons.
The order of the three is in accordance with the position of their corresponding organs in the human body.
The goldfish area needs to have its water changed regularly so that it is the closest to the water.
The crow area covers the entire building surface as “skin”, and the parrot areas are scattered on the core tube for the convenience to serve as the speaker of the entire system.
Since the octopuses are large, too many restrictions will hinder its survival. Thus, the octopus area is semi-open and placed completely underwater.
1. The original image of the design came from the hamster’s scroll wheel. The mice move around in the finished product area when they are active, and the device will automatically rotate when it is close to the rest time, forcing the mice to enter the semi-finished product area through the pipes. The mice will dig their way in the muscle layer leading to the nest according to their memory from the finished product area.
2. The speakers in the glass ball regularly play human voices that speak different languages, and there are microphones facing the outside in the glass ball.
3. After the fragments of the epidermis layer are all picked up by the crow, the dermis layer will be revealed.
4. There is a set time for ants to rest. They move around in the finished product area when they are active. At a certain time, the manager will put bait to attract them to crawl down through the thin tube into the semi-finished product area. They will build a nest according to the route memorized in the finished product area.
5.The raccoons are in the finished product area when active. When it’s time for rest, the manager sends food to attract them to enter the semi-finished product area. They will dig the nest according to the memory from the finished product area.
6. The goldfish move around in the finished tubular organs on the upper floor of the aquarium when they are active. When it’s the time to change the water, they will be attracted to the central transition zone by the bait and then swim downward to enter the semi-finished product area. They will restore the route of the tubes according to the memory from the finished product area.
7. The sample storage floor serves as a hollow part of the whole building to provide buoyancy. The ship where the six domestic animals are located is parked by the dock.
The mannequins of the underwater octopus area are paired with each other. The octopuses move around in the hollow skeletons in the finished product area when they are active. During the rest, they are attracted by the bait into the semi-finished product area, where they will pick up debris to restore the habitat based on the memories.
Parrot area: a large glass ball with flowers, trees and parrot racks inside
Mouse area: two semi-annular devices connected by pipes, equipped with artificial muscle layers and artificial sensory organs
Crow area: a large board with artificial skin fragments attached to it, planted with humanoid trees
Ant area: assembled from multiple modular devices, and each module consisting of two artificial organs
Goldfish area: an aquarium with artificial tubular organs
Raccoon area: with the upper floor of the water source and the lower floor of the blood, equipped with pipes to store blood
Octopus area: artificial human body with artificial skeleton inside
Area for six domestic animals: the upper floor is the activity area for humans, and the lower floor is the ecological area, equipped with robot animals to guide and manage the activities of the six domestic animals.
The poster on this page, originally a whole one, is now divided into ten parts. The colored part in each part corresponds to the content highlighted in this part (i.e. different floors for different organs)
Since Human Museum is designed for animals, it should be a semi-closed, self-circulating management ecosystem. Humans are not prohibited, so they can visit and observe from outside through the four types of vehicles on the left.
The picture above shows seven animals viewing their own living areas from their own perspective.

Project type: March Architectural Design
Location: UCL Bartlett School of Architecture
Time: 2022.08
Rapid urbanization and the clean, sterile exterior of modernist architecture are isolating humans from green spaces and microbes. Microorganisms play a key role in the field of human health and are closely related to human health. It is important to restore the microbial diversity of human habitats to create a healthier living environment.
Microorganisms play an important role in the ecological cycle.
Humans are surrounded by ubiquitous microorganisms of primarily natural origin, and the microorganisms of a rich and diverse environment are beneficial to the human immune system and health. However, industrialisation and urbanisation have led to a reduction in urban green spaces, thereby reducing microbial diversity and increasing the risk of disease for urban residents.
“Currently we try to exclude other species [in buildings],” Krueger says. “Then, we go camping on the weekend in 'nature’ because we feel renewed by the contact with the species we have eliminated.” Instead, architects should develop multi-scale, multi-species design criteria that enable us to co-exist with other organisms.
Microorganisms can do much more than we think; they can repair building materials, fight disease and perpetuate ecological conditions. Architects should develop multi-scale, multi-species design standards that allow us to co-exist with other organisms. Perhaps house microecologies will be designed through the selection of materials, conditions, spatial configurations, and inoculations.
We assembled the shapes of the components into various assembly methods, and then pasted the loofah on the surface. The pattern of the loofah changes with the rotation of the components, which is continuous.
By connecting different components together, we get different spatial forms as part of the building. We used concrete, wood boards and mycelium to complete multiple sets of manual models to verify the feasibility and rationality of this design.
Due to the relatively small volume of components produced by splicing modules, we try to use panels to make modules, and fold the panels at a certain angle according to the direction of splicing modules. Mirror the copy to get a hollow member and fill it with concrete or other reinforcing material.
This special shape can be spliced with another similar shape at the end, or can be spliced with other shapes with slight changes in a more complex way. After multiple groups of splicing, a more stable structure can be formed.
After determining the final shape of the loofah components and verifying its feasibility through manual experiments, we proceeded to the architectural design of the entire loofah structure. This process transitions from more random aggregate design to very detailed spatial structure design.
