It is imperative that all coders stay current on changes in the official ICD-9-CM codes and be prepared to implement those changes by October 1st. This session will provide an overview of the changes with particular emphasis on the changes that are most likely to impact home health care services and payment. While coders never code based on payment alone,

knowledge of the diagnoses that impact payment is an import aspect of the coder's tool box. Although we were anticipating minimal changes to ICD-9-CM For 20112, there are a plethora of changes including: 166 new codes, 11 new subcategories, 168 revisions to existing codes and 88 deleted codes. .
