Quality Backlinks The quality of these backlinks matters the most! So, for creating backlinks you can use techniques such as guest posting, social bookmarking, and directory submission, etc. In doing so, you should use high PR (page rank) site to get do follow backlink. High DA (domain authority) pages would also be a plus when focusing on backlinks since low-quality backlink doesn’t affect your website ranking. When choosing which social media platforms to get help from, focus on looking for websites with high trust and domain authority. By searching these exact keywords in Google, you should be able to find many options to choose from! Here is an answer from Tim Halloran, owner at Defy9to5.com: “Backlinks are a signal to Google to let them know who is linking to you and how they are linking. A good link profile should be a part of an SEO strategy, but it’s not the full story. Google uses many signals to determine the value of someone’s content. If your content isn’t good, people won’t naturally link to it and share it. If you don’t get enough people to see it, this won’t happen either.
Here’s a few other signals which Google will use to determine how (and if) to rank your content in the search engines. •
Keywords in your title and headers - If you’re targeting a specific keyword in your content, make sure it’s in your headings, copy, title and image alt tags too. • Backlink profile - Have other similar authority sites linked to you, or just your own? How regularly has your content been linked to? Does this look natural? What are the main keywords which are being used to link to you? • Shares on social media are another important signal. If your content has no shares it shows little evidence to Google that you have a strong social presence or that people are naturally sharing your content. • Time on page - your visitors will spend some time reading your content. Google can see how long they stick around. This gives them a strong idea of how well your content is received. • How long is your article? The size of your content can help determine how to judge its worthiness in the search engines. Longer posts have more chance to use more keywords and gain more approval from Google, especially if they answer more questions about a certain topic. • Deep links - Always ‘deep link’ back to your keyword targeted articles. This shows Google what your content is about and what keywords you want it to rank for. A deep link is the keyword you use to link back to your content from new content you create. So, short answer is no, backlinks aren’t the most important factor in developing a good SEO strategy. Google certainly likes to see backlinks from high domain authority sites and sites with huge link profiles are given more credence than new sites with no backlinks. Some SEO factors are given more weight than others but the truth is that only Google knows by how much backlinks matter. A good strategy should focus mainly on creating excellent, quality content because everything else comes after that. Good content will determine a number of factors: • • • •
