THIS INTIMATE SAFARI INCLUDES: TRAVEL: All scheduled travel and transfers within Kenya by private 4x4 vehicles including a chartered flight from Tsavo back to Nairobi. (International flights are not included) ACCOMMODATION & PARK FEES: Full-board accommodation at Hemingways Nairobi, Umani Springs, Ithumba Camp and Saa Nane House, including a day-room at Hemingways on your final day back in Nairobi. The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is inviting you on a once in a lifetime safari with exclusive access to the Elephant Orphans of the Nairobi Nursery, our Saving Habitats initiative, and brand new Umani Springs Rehabilitaion Unit in the Kibwezi Forest, and the Orphan’s Rehabititation Units in Tsavo East, whilst hosting you at the Trust’s renowned private properties - Umani Springs, Ithumba Camp and the Trust’s field HQ Saa Nane House. During this unique safari you will be expertly guided by the Trust’s Field Managers and introduced to many of the team, from bush pilots to veterinary officers to the remarkable elephant orphan Keepers, who are all fighting to save wild lives today and securing threatened habitats for the future. This incredible safari has been created as a perfect Holiday Season gift for yourself and a loved one, whilst allowing you to actively support the ongoing work of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
DAY 1 & 2

The Nairobi Nursery
Hemingways Nairobi is a mere 40 minutes from Nairobi’s international airport located in the famed suburb of Karen overlooking the iconic silhouette of the Ngong Hills. This airy and spacious 45 room boutique hotel is situated close to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust based in Nairobi National Park, all the while avoiding the inconvenience of traffic. Personlized service will ensure that you are met at the airport by Hemingway’s and your days can be designed according to your personal preference with your own vehicle and driver at your disposal throughout your stay in Nairobi. You will be able to enjoy exclusive and unique VIP access to the Nairobi Nursery orphans outside of public visiting hours, with the added opportunity of meeting both Daphne and Angela Sheldrick and the rest of the DSWT team.
DAY 3 - 4 - Umani Springs - Kibwezi Forest Leaving Nairobi you will be transferred by road 3½ hours further south to the remarkable Kibwezi Forest, Kenya’s last remaining groundwater forest and one of the DSWT’s protected habitats and home to the Trust’s most recent Relocation Unit for orphaned elephants. Here you will discover the forest and its surrounding wilderness and enjoy the elephant orphans from your exclusive home-awayfrom home at the DSWT’s private Umani Springs eco-property, which offers tranquility in stylish comfort. During this leg of your safari you will be hosted and guided by the DSWT’s Field Manager whilst having the opportunity to visit the Chyulu Hills National Park and joining one of the DSWT’s field teams out on patrol within the forest.
DAY 5 & 6 - Ithumba
Camp - Northern Area Of Tsavo East After the delights of the Kibwezi Forest you will be driven 2 hours by road to the remote wilderness of Tsavo East’s Northern Area to Ithumba Camp. Ithumba is a simple but beautiful property that you can enjoy exclusively, ably guided by our team. This rustic yet stylish camp is based at the foot of Ithumba Hill, commanding views across the Yatta Plateau offering a truly wild experience. Sleeping under canvas in comfortable safaristyle tents you can shower under the stars and immerse yourself in the sounds of nature, whilst being wined and dined in style. Ithumba is where one of the DSWT’s three orphan relocation units are based, and where you will have the opportunity to meet and enjoy the Ithumba orphans and their wild born babies and elephant friends.
DAY 7 & 8 -
Dswt Field Headquarters
Driving through the Tsavo East National Park you will arrive at the DSWT’s Field Headquarters and Saa Nane House situated on the stunning Athi River. This house was built in memory of David Sheldrick and is set within a beautiful 4000-acre private conservancy bordering Tsavo East National Park. Here you will be exposed to many of the DSWT’s field operations and have the chance to meet more of the team, whilst also having the opportunity to visit the DSWT’s Voi Relocation Unit and spending time with the Voi elephant orphans and their Keepers.
