For many of us psoriasis is a name of some kind of a disease we never really had any interest in, and many people live their whole lives without any knowledge of this disease and its devastating effects and psychological strains. For the 3% of the population that is diagnosed with psoriasis the learning and knowledge of the disease is probably critical from the first day they feel that something is wrong, or they notice some rash or redness on parts of their bodies. Effecting the scalp, face, arms, fingers, hands, lags, back and the bottom of the feet, psoriasis is one of the most difficult diseases people have to deal with, the lack of awareness to this disease and the people who suffer from it make this even more difficult to bare, and the psychological effects can lead into a road from which there is no return, there are not many health people that can justifiably judge and criticize a psoriasis patient. Common mostly in adult population this disease almost never appears in childhood or adolescence, the psoriasis disease is considered an immunity system disorder that has significant effect on the skin of the patient. What actually happens is that the immune system is producing the skin cells too quickly, a thing that causes the skin to be replaced every other day, which is much faster than usual, resulting in a reddish and flaky skin, that is often incredibly irritated and itchy, psoriasis patients have to deal with constant irritability and itchiness, which by itself is a mental burden that claims a lot of the damage this disease does. The psychological effects of psoriasis are indeed difficult, in the past many of the psoriasis patients shut themselves out to the outside world, never wanting to go out and expose their obvious disease to their neighbors and friends, in more modern times some psoriasis patients fear the effect of the sun, as this can significantly worsen the psoriasis condition and increase chances of an outbreak, thus refraining from going out at all. Both in the past and the present psoriasis patients are dealt a heavy blow to their sense of self worth, socializing abilities and regular normative everyday life. The psoriasis disease has its roots in genetics and is hereditary, this does mean that the patients necessarily know anyone in their family who ever had psoriasis, but rather that it did pass on the bloodline. Once diagnosed with psoriasis most patients are encouraged to maintain normal life and embrace a new way of life that includes an enhanced understanding of the disease, paying attention to overexposure to the sun, starting a specific diet and avoiding certain foods to try and decrease the chances of the psoriasis attacking, and taking medicine. Most psoriasis patients look for more help, usually form the alternative and biological medicine, which in some cases do a lot of good. We all must understand the great difficulties a psoriasis patient faces and try, as a society, to help and encourage these patients to fight back and win, just as science is constantly looking for better
