URSULA NISTRUP With an extraordinary ability to listen and learn from the materials she works with, audio and visual artist Ursula Nistrup explores interesting depths and challenges our way of thinking. Ursula’s artistic vision is objectified through sculptures, photography, installations, text, performance and drawing. From her latest exhibition From the Pink Sand, Ursula Nistrup created a sensorily-saturated future scenario for Holstebro Kunstmuseum. The exhibition speculatively examined how living organisms become altered over time by geology and the complex ecosystems of the Earth. The focal point is on a particular species of butterfly that, during droughts, feeds exclusively on desert sand. This adaptability led Nistrup to consider the ability of mankind, to develop new forms of existence and survival beyond that of biological logic. For Dawn Exhibition the butterfly has evolved into light units - elegant abstract silk sculptures created in collaboration with clothing designer Lotte Henriksen. @ursulanistrup www.nistrup.com
