I started accumulating experience as a photographer during my National Service with the Singapore Armed Forces.

This photo series, ‘Infantry,’ on Singaporean Sons going through the final phase of their Basic Military Training won me a nomination in the International Photography Awards 2009.

After close to 2 years of field training, parades and ceremonies while braving the weather. An opportunity came to do a studio shot of senior officers and specialists that would be framed. The assignment was done without fancy equipment and only with a basic DSLR and a standard kit lens. I improvised the light source with a hand torch and rice paper.

In recent years, with better gear, better lens and lighting equipment. I started covering event photography assignments.

Always being there at the right moment and capturing my subjects in the most flattering light.

If there’s an opportunity to travel, my lens will always find a way to tell a story about a foreign land: its culture and people.

Yes, I enjoy shooting people and portraits.

And I’m also fond of conceptual work where I can stretch creativity. This is a conceptual self-portrait.

That was a series that could go viral and done for just for fun. Still, I prefer to flatter clients in my shots 99.9% of the time. Though I might add that I love working with clients who are open to creative ideas and new types of photography like High Dynamic Resolution photos.
