rapefruits are reported to have been first discovered in the West Indies around the 18th century. This hybrid fruit, which is a cross between an orange and a pomelo, varies in colour from white or yellow to pink and red. Its taste can range from acidic and bitter to sweet and sugary; and on top of all that, grapefruits are filled with nutrients. Let’s look at some of the perks of adding a few slices of grapefruit to your diet.
Improves Skin Health The vitamin C in grapefruits is also beneficial to the skin. Vitamin C contains collagen, the main support system for the skin. Grapefruits are more than 80 percent water, hence consuming them will keep your skin hydrated. Worried about dry skin? Having a few slices of grapefruit per day will help protect your skin from potentially harmful UV rays from the sunlight.
Controls Appetite Another important feature of grapefruit is its fibre content. Fibre slows down digestion, which means you feel ‘full’ longer. So, if you’re looking to cut back on the fast-food and snacks, grapefruits are one way of filling the gap. Also, since you feel less hungry, you’ll generally eat less, which can help with weight loss.
Good for the Heart
Boosts Immunity System Grapefruits are a good source of vitamin C, which improves your recovery rate from illnesses. They also contain vitamin A, which helps to reduce inflammation and several bacterial, viral, and fungal infections. In addition, grapefruits contain minerals such as zinc, copper and iron that help to improve one’s immunity. So if you want to beef up your immune system, grapefruits are a great option.
Studies have shown that consuming grapefruits regularly can help lower one’s blood pressure. Grapefruits contain high levels of potassium, which breaks down sodium in the body. Furthermore, they help reduce the level of bad cholesterol that can clog your arteries.
Reduces Fatigue Grapefruits are beneficial in the treatment of fatigue. They contain nootkatone, a rare compound that improves energy metabolism in the body. So next time you need a quick energy boost, have a glass of refreshing grapefruit juice. Make sure to keep the pulp. www.dazzlethemag.com DAZZLE 9

Video Marketing Trends to Look Out For in 2019 It’s said that a photo is worth a thousand words. If so, a video must be worth at least ten thousand.
V
ideo is arguably the most entertaining form of online content, earning far more viewer engagement than text or images. As a result, many businesses are now getting involved in video marketing. However, to create a great video marketing strategy, it’s important to be aware of the current trends.
Here’s a look at some video marketing trends that you should take note of in 2019. Storytelling Everyone loves a good story. Video is a persuasive form of media. However, what makes a video truly impactful is the plot behind the story. Effective storytelling hooks your audience and leaves them 12 DAZZLE

curious to know more about your business and product. Furthermore, storytelling helps humanize your brand, making it more relatable to consumers. Don’t feel pressured to spend thousands of dollars on flashy and elaborate videos. Just focus on the story you want to tell.
Live streaming People like to live in the moment, which explains why live streaming has been rapidly growing over

Collaboration with Influencers
the years. So much so, it is now a feature on most social media platforms (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, etc.). Companies use live video to show off new products, provide coverage of events and offer various services, such as tutorials, webinars, Q & A sessions and much more. This simple and free method of marketing allows businesses to increase brand awareness and interact with consumers in real time (and all you need is your smartphone).
How-To Videos When trying to figure out how to use a product, consumers gravitate more towards demonstrations than manuals. That’s why many businesses have tutorial videos, either on their website or YouTube channel, in order to show customers how to use their
In order to market movies successfully and attract large audiences, movie producers usually cast A-list actors. The same tactic is used for video marketing. Businesses team up with individuals who have large social media followings in order to boost their brand awareness. This includes featuring the influencer in video ads, letting them promote company events via live streaming and so on. By having influencers involved in your video marketing strategy, you not only give your customer a reason to trust your brand, you also gain access to the already-established community of the featured influencer. To conclude, video marketing is growing and is an avenue that still has so much potential. Apart from being aware of current trends, it’s crucial that businesses understand their respective target audiences and tailor their video marketing strategy to customer needs.

f you know Bandbox, then you would recognise the brand as one that is unique and adds a delightful new flair to fashion in St. Lucia.
Kimberly ‘Kim’ Charlery is the brains behind this creative fusion of colourful, eye-catching styles that are quintessentially St. Lucian. An alumnus of the Ave Maria Girls Primary School and Saint Joseph’s Convent, Kim also attended Sir Arthur Lewis Community College part time before starting off her journey into the world of fashion, which has always been her main focus. “Bandbox is a lifestyle fashion brand,” Kim explained. “I like to say a lifestyle brand because, to me, we’re more than just clothing and accessories, and mood chords, inasmuch as this is a signature of the brand. We try to encompass how you live and how you represent yourself. We want the brand to be something that celebrates life and is not afraid to show up and show out.” Bandbox is all about creativity, hence the reason the name sparked quite a bit of interest. “Bandbox means well groomed. It means the same as chic and dapper. I wanted to rebrand from the original brand name. We used to be ‘KCha Clothing’ but I found it too personal. I wanted a name that was unisex. Chic was too girly and dapper was too manly. Bandbox is an old saying. It’s a round box, which is kind of weird but I love weird things. It was used for carrying hats back in the old days. When someone said, ‘You look fresh out of a bandbox, it meant you looked really good. That’s where the name came from.”
14 DAZZLE
www.dazzlethemag.com
Despite being a relatively new brand, the business itself has grown over many years. Before it was Bandbox, and even before it was KCha, it used to be something else. “I’ve been working on this for the past ten years — since my son was born nine years ago, so the business has been around for a while. Bandbox is a little over a year old but the concept has been around for about ten years. We first started off with bags, which is how I funded my unconventional education to do what I do now. “We don’t only do mood chords, we also mix and match designs for shirts as well. That’s my passion; mixing different prints to get something new and different. It’s not just fashion, it’s being able to get inspiration from something and turning it into something different. The mood chord inspiration came from a table. I looked at a piece of furniture and the idea of a necklace just came to me. I find it interesting to have someone look at something and wonder if they like it. And I actually have a background in evening wear. I’m certified in that, I just haven’t gotten around to it yet.” Design wasn’t something that just sprung up on Kim, it was a dream she’d been working towards for a long time. “I always wanted to do design. I didn’t go to formal school for it but I did a lot of short courses, classes and readings from many experts to get that education. I did a lot of expensive trial and error learning. I always wanted to build a lifestyle brand. I was an art student and, from school, my best friend and I always wanted to create a brand that had its own boutique with our own things, designed by us. But it was always a challenge to have someone bring my designs to life. I knew exactly what I wanted, so I taught myself how to sew. Initially, I didn’t really know anything about sewing and bringing a design to life, so explaining to a seamstress what I wanted was difficult. Now, as I’ve taught myself what I need to know, I can better communicate with someone and say, ‘This is what I need.’ Learning is not just being able to do, it’s being able to get things done.” Despite being passionate about fashion designing, Kim still needed that extra push to get it done. “My son got me started. After he was born I decided to take the risk and go for it because it was something I wanted. I used my maternity leave to get started and that’s where I began with bags. I figured it was less risky; I didn’t have to fit it. Once I started, I was done in two seconds.”

DAZZLE 15
Learning a new skill isn’t always easy but for Kim, fashion designing has always been part of her. “Learning to sew came like second nature to me. I was an art student at school, so I’m very good with my hands. I did a lot of crocheting at school, waiting for exams to finish, and by the end I’d come out with something new. I had to learn the aspect of sewing as a skill but design was always something that was just there.”
Starting a business and keeping it afloat comes not without its challenges, Kim noted. “Sourcing material is my biggest challenge. The world has become so small that it’s easy to duplicate patterns and designs, even with African fabric. There’s a Chinese version which is softer and it serves for somethings I guess but not for what we need it. And you can’t just buy it online because you need to know you’re getting good quality.”
The process of producing unique and captivating designs is an everyday thing for Kim. “I don’t really have a thought process for my designs because I’m constantly designing. I illustrate what I cannot make because there’s a shortage of variety here when it comes to fabric, so whatever I don’t get to make, I put on paper. I used to be really self-conscious about my designs but I’ve started posting them a lot more on my social media pages now.
Even with the challenges she’s faced, Kim can see Bandbox growing further and reaching its full potential. “We’re definitely not at the level I envisaged us being, as yet. Bandbox is a stepping stone or a legacy that I’d like to build to inspire others to do the same.”
“I’m currently working on a princess collection along with my fiancé. We’re redesigning their outfits. We recently did the elements; earth, water, wind, fire and metal and we took those words and illustrated what they represented. I did the fashion illustration and he did his style, which is more three-quarter view or a bust-style view of the character where he embodies them through different accessories in their hair, which is really interesting.”
fun facts What are your top two favourite movies? The Greatest Showman; comic book movies. Favourite holiday? Christmas. Number one pet peeve? I hate blissful ignorance and bullies. Worst and best ice cream flavour? I love anything that has cheesecake and yogurt. I’m not a fan of chocolate. Kim credits her son with much of her inspiration. “My son has been my inspiration. My goal is to create a legacy that he will be proud of. No matter what, I need to be able to look him in the eye, and it’s more than just being able to provide a roof over his head. It’s also about him being proud to let people know I’m his mother, or that he’s affiliated with Bandbox in any way, and it’s not something he’s ashamed of.” 16 DAZZLE
www.dazzlethemag.com
Bandbox has also opened up new opportunities and avenues for Kim to expand her business. “I came from Barbados recently and I’ve been to Martinique through Bandbox. We have a store in Anguilla that sells our designs, and one at Anse Chastanet and Jade Mountain. We’ve partnered with other entrepreneurs as well. I believe there’s strength in numbers. I believe supporting others can get you far. I always tell people it’s not just about supporting local because they’re local. You support them because it’s the right thing to do.” Like most successful entrepreneurs, Kim is not content to sit on her laurels. She is moving down her checklist at a reasonable pace and is confident that she’ll be exactly where she needs to be in terms of fulfilling Bandbox’s legacy. Bandbox has given fashion in Saint Lucia a whole new meaning and Dazzle Magazine wishes both Kim and Bandbox all the best in the near future.

How to Make a Great Impression While Networking
N
ow more than ever, it’s important for entrepreneurs and their brands to continuously build a solid network throughout the lifespan of their business. If your field of expertise is in web design, you should build a network of people who are in that field, as well as similar fields. The same rule applies for virtually every other career ecosystem.
Get Straight to the Point Before you go off to network with others, it’s important to have a plan or a goal in mind that will guide you towards what you want to achieve in the end. Doing this will enable you to be brief yet informative, in whatever way you plan on communicating. As the saying goes, ‘Time is money’. No one is happy when they feel like their time is being wasted with unnecessary information that won’t be of any benefit to them. In addition to this, being concise establishes 20 DAZZLE

your professionalism and attention to detail, even in such a small way.
Always Listen Attentively It’s quite easy to ramble on and on about your experiences and everything that you’ve struggled through and accomplished. However, when it comes to building networks, it’s equally important to listen. There are so many reasons besides being courteous why you should listen as much as, or even more than you speak. Most of all, there’s always something to learn and giving someone the chance to speak could enable you to gain insight into some matter that may come up later on in your career. Speaking without listening will cause you to come across as being uninterested in what the other party has to say; which makes your chances of getting referrals much slimmer.
who’ve helped you achieve that initial success. It takes very little from you to do so and you can reap huge rewards in the future.
Show Gratitude and Give Back Building a genuinely solid network includes showing gratitude to those who have helped you along your journey. It can be easy to move forward onto new projects with tons of experience that you’ve gained from your last networking session. However, it’s always wise to be mindful of, and thank, those
Giving back goes hand in hand with showing gratitude. There will always be someone who needs information that you possess, and the reverse is also true. Sharing your knowledge on a particular subject is important for the overall growth of the community, as well as your network. Another form of giving back that can have a huge impact is conducting lectures at various schools. Chances are, someone growing up wants to be in your field later on in life and your insight and encouragement could serve them well and help them achieve their dreams. Those same persons could end up working with you later down the line, so establishing that first connection is a great idea! These tips about building your network are by no means, exhaustive, but if followed correctly they can give you an advantage when you go out into the field of business!

e had the pleasure of sitting down for a tête-à-tête with Ted Sandiford, the man behind countless drawings, animations and music videos from ACID Kreationz, among other memorable works of art. Ted spoke on what he’s all about and even the things that not many people know about him. Dazzle: You’re well known to the public as an artist, a teacher and a fitness fanatic but how do you see yourself? Ted: Well, fitness is to maintain my sanity because of my busy schedule (laughs), alongside staying healthy. But I do all these things and work so hard because of my family. So my life is a combination of family, fitness, art and work. Dazzle: In creative industries it’s easy to assume that you can learn everything with the hands-on experience of working in the field. However, you chose to do online schooling with the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. What prompted you to take that route? Ted: I’ve done a few electives at SALCC, workshops and seminars in Trinidad and Jamaica, in traditional classrooms. The reason I chose to do online schooling instead was because I had responsibilities; my family. I didn’t want to get up and leave for four years. Ideally I would have liked to attend The Art Institute in Florida but after doing more research I found out about the online division in Pittsburgh. Even then the price was a huge deterrent for me. But I told myself ‘Just start, you will finish’. So I took a small loan and got started. Smaller jobs started coming in to help me finance my schooling, and that forced me to start my business ACID Kreationz around 2008. Dazzle: How did ACID Kreationz start? Ted: ACID (Audio Crew In Defiance) started off with mixtapes, because I was a DJ back then. After releasing seven volumes of mixtapes I teamed up with Kendell ‘Scady’ Eugene. It was then the idea of Cocoboy & Girard got developed; two characters who always got themselves in trouble. At first they’d only appear on skits in between tracks on the mixtapes but Scady prompted me to visualise them since I could draw. Then we did weekly comics in the YO! Magazine where he worked. Soon after we switched gradually from sound to visuals and ACID Kreationz (now Artistic Creative Innovative Dynamic Kreationz) became what it is today. But still, because of limited finances I took breaks from school, sometimes a whole year. At a certain point I realised that I needed to finish this thing, so I started a crowdfunding campaign. With IndieGogo you could give people an incentive to donate and mine was to do caricatures for everyone who asked,
once they donated. Dazzle: That ended up being a hugely successful campaign. What was it like while it was all happening? Ted: That was the time that I worked the most. People had the option to just donate but I’m thankful that they opted to get the most expensive caricature along with their donation. Doing those definitely kept me busy. I did over 100 caricatures in that time and I exceeded the goal I had set for myself in the first place.
fun facts
Last thing you do before going to bed? I check my Apple watch to see my activities for the day. Favourite project you worked on in 2018? So many…but it’s my last animated short film project that I did for school, What’s the most amount of drawings you’ve completed in 24 hours? I once drew for 14 hours non-stop and got 36 caricatures done for various clients. Favourite childhood cartoon? Transformers. Dazzle: In Saint Lucia we hear a lot about ‘the struggling artist.’ How have you been able to, if at all, overcome that stereotype? Ted: There’s no avoiding it because the stereotype is always there. You just need to ignore it. However, seeing how greatly art is appreciated in first-world countries compared to here can be discouraging. Some clients can make it difficult when they say things like ‘You only take five minutes to do that… You just drawing something on a computer, why does it cost so much?’ and so on. But it took me multiple years to learn how to do that in a short space of time. It’s a huge investment to gain that expertise and knowledge to do what I do now. Previously, I would bend to the client and lower my prices but I don’t anymore. Dazzle: At what point were you able to stick with that and say ‘this is my price and I’m not changing it’? Ted: I learned a lot about valuing myself and my work in my time at school. I didn’t just learn how to animate, I also learned the business of being an artist. The jobs are out there because there’s always a need for art and design, which is an advantage because

you always get work. But the disadvantage is that you always get work (laughs). And that’s because of time. Time management is something that you have to master. That’s my downfall because I haven’t gotten a good grasp of it yet. All jobs are different and all clients have different needs. Sometimes I don’t have the zeal to do a job at the time so I do another job to find inspiration. I try to approach artists to do music videos for free, but with full creative freedom, just to get back on track. The most recent one was ‘Bad in Bum Bum’. Dazzle: You’ve also done quite a few music videos to date, the first one being ‘Hey Scady.’ What other art forms are you actively engaged in? Ted: Fine arts (painting), graffiti, music videos … I can do murals but I really dislike doing them since I specialise in animation and graphic design. I’m readily available for those things. I truly enjoy doing them. With painting, it can easily take up to a year to complete because I mostly paint when my emotions are heightened, whether it’s happy or sad. After the ‘Hey Scady’ video I kept doing videos for Ricky T, Mongstar, Sherwin Winchester, Subance and Mighty, Freezy and others.
Dazzle: What’s the most misunderstood thing about you as an artist, and the art form you make a living off of? Ted: When it comes to animation, people always believe that animation costs less than real life art. I get that a lot. Earlier on in my career it really used to bother me. But like I said, there’s always a need for this kind of work. But there are, of course, exceptions. My prices for my usual clients are not my prices for schools and youth activities. Often, I take on work for free, especially if it’s for charity or a good cause. Dazzle: So far, you’ve been achieving most of your dreams. Are there any other things that you’re still chasing after? Ted: Regarding fitness, it’s like art; it’s ongoing. I’m never satisfied with my art but the beauty of it is that you’re the only one who knows your mistakes. Someone will see a piece of art and think ‘Wow this is perfect, I love it!’ but it will never be perfect for the person who created it. And that’s because you know where you could have improved and where you could do better. So I treat fitness like art and never settle. As for what’s next? My dream is to have an animated series on TV, starring Cocoboy and Girard. I know that TV is losing its impact because of the internet. But it’s been my dream from long before the internet took over, so I still want to see it come to reality. I don’t plan on being the sole contributor to the series because animation is a team effort and each person has their own set of strengths. It is difficult to foster that collaborative spirit among artists in Saint Lucia. That’s why when I teach, I try to include lots of group assignments to try to break that mould. Dazzle: How do you balance out all these various parts of your life? Ted: It would be nice to have all my kids involved in the same thing but each of them has their own separate interests. I try my best to be present at all of their different activities because it lets them know that they have a supportive father there with them. Sometimes, during the busy season, I feel like I’m neglecting them but there are times when I need to take a break, play some games with them, and so on. My eldest son is into art and anime, so I bond with him while getting him into the industry as well. I even learn things from him and what he’s doing. My eldest daughter is into photography too. And it costs quite a bit to finance their dreams but it’s most certainly worth it. With so much going on in his life, we wish Ted Sandiford all the success that he’s working so hard to achieve!

Shoot Videos like a Pro Lens Filters Every Videographer Should Own Mirrorless that use interchangeable lens, filters thread onto the front of the lens. The filter size you need will depend on your lens’ thread size, which you can find out by looking for the symbol ‘ø’ with a number next to it. Now, to the types of filters available.
I
f you shoot videos, you should always want to master your craft. While equipment won’t always help you improve your shots, there is one range of tools that you can use to enhance the quality of your footage. Filters are one of those small but very handy tools that you probably have not considered when shopping for camera gear. For cameras like the DSLRs and 28 DAZZLE

Ultra Violet protectors While there’s not much to be said about UV filters, they are important for keeping your lens protected. They safeguard the glass from intense UV light, scratches or cracks. It’s a great investment because damaging a five-dollar filter is preferable to ruining a $500 dollar lens.
Polarizers Polarizing filters are great for cutting out glares and reflections. For example, if you’re shooting a glossy car or a large body of water, polarizers are ideal for getting a unique shot when used correctly. Polarizers can also make photo colours look more vibrant and full of life.
Pro Tip: Buy the largest filter size that you’ll need, along with cheaper step rings to use for all your other lenses. Filters can cost hundreds of dollars, while step rings cost only a small fraction of that. Important things to consider: ND filters from different manufacturers tend to give different colour casts to your footage. This is something that can be easily fixed with most editing software. Variable ND filters from any brand, however, will add crosshairs to your image once you get close to the maximum ND strength.
ND Filters (Neutral Density) These come in two circular variations; variable (also known as faders) and fixed. Simply put, ND filters act like sunglasses for your lens. These are particularly useful for shooting videos outdoors when you need a shallow depth of field but want to maintain good exposure. This is often difficult to achieve in daylight when shooting at 1/50th shutter speed with a fast aperture like an f1.7 or f2.8, even at your lowest ISO. Variable ND filters can be adjusted on the go, depending on how many stops of light enter the lens. Fixed ND filters, on the other hand, only block a certain amount of light.
As always, no single piece of gear will instantly make your footage better, but they can certainly enhance whatever story you’re trying to tell if you use them well.

Young, vibrant and full of talent! Just a few words to describe the band Dynamix.
E
ven if you’re not familiar with the group, the band members’ names will surely ring some bells. They include Rashaad Joseph (saxophone), Gershom Gerson (bass), Dwight Florent (guitar), Dylan Thomas (drums) and Danyl Daniel (keyboard). Coupled with their manager, Sydwina Desmangles, these musical maestros have been wowing audiences with their dynamic sounds in St. Lucia and beyond. Dazzle had the pleasure of interviewing the members of the band in an effort to gain some insight into their fascinating world of melody, as well as their origin and their accomplishments, and the bond they all share. “It started back in Form 5,” said Dwight. “We all (excluding Danyl) kind of met at the Black Ants Jazz Band, near the Saint Lucia School of Music and from there we decided to form the band Dynamix. But we knew each other well enough prior to that. Later on, we expanded on it by adding Danyl.”
fun facts
Over the years, the band has performed at events such as the Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival and the Soleil Roots and Soul Festival. They have also done gigs at hotels and on cruise ships, including The Pearl. They don’t limit themselves to any one music genre. Their repertoire includes local, regional and international selections. “I would say that Dynamix is different from other bands, because for one, we don’t have a headline singer,” guitarist, Dwight Florent explained. “If you noticed, we have a saxophonist (Rashaad) as the lead front man, so I think that alone in itself gives people a different air towards the band,” he added.
Favourite colour to wear as a band? Black! That’s not even a question! Everything black. Favourite band performance? The UK tour. Just being in a whole different environment, different air, different experience. What band most inspires you? Individually, we follow various musicians... we learn off of everybody.
Originally a group of four, the band decided to bring Danyl Daniel on board as their keyboardist at the beginning of 2017. Danyl, who also works with Ronald ‘Boo’ Hinkson, described being part of the band as an enjoyable and fun-filled experience. “What I like most about being in a band is that each member brings their own personality and skill set, and so it gives me the opportunity to express myself, my personality and my instrument,” said Danyl. Although he is the oldest member (age 30), he has a great sense of humour and appears to be just as jovial as his bandmates.
Danyl, for his part, thinks Dynamix has succeeded in distinguishing itself from other bands. “Dynamix is different from many other groups, mainly because of the age range of its members and their youthfulness. Usually, other groups who would be performing at similar events or on a similar scale as Dynamix would be much older, so that makes us unique in a sense.” When asked about the band’s accomplishments, the group pointed to their international tour back in 2017. “There was a tour we did in the UK. That, personally,

is one of my most treasured accomplishments so far,” said Gershom, the bass guitarist. “To reach that point where you can travel to play music, that’s our main accomplishment so far.” The tour took place in June that year. Dynamix performed at several venues, including North Yorkshire and Hull.
Another interesting topic discussed was the band’s future. Given the youthfulness of the members, the question of their future as a group came up. They believe that travelling overseas to perform is inevitable in order to further their individual growth, and their careers as professional musicians.
Although it has been a long journey for the band, the members said, so far, they have not faced too many challenges. Rashaad explained, “It’s more about getting together and going to rehearsals, as all of us have our own schedules. All of us are doing our own thing.” Danyl added, “I would say every musician is busy with several other groups. Individually, we are part of other groups as well, so that would be our main challenge.”
“As the band leader, I can say that the future of the band is kind of blurry,” Dwight said, “For me, I will be moving to the US soon. That’s the plan, and obviously each member has has their own plans.”
With such a diverse group of personalities we were curious to know how the band balances the individual strengths and weaknesses of the members. “I think it's just a matter of understanding each other and that’s the way we work around it.” said Dwight. Danyl feels the band members’ mutual respect for each other also helps keep them together. “Within Dynamix, you have a situation where everybody has a natural respect for everybody. We have varied personalities but there’s still that innate respect, so no one takes anything personally. We joke a lot, we play a lot, but you know, it’s all a very light atmosphere most times.” 32 DAZZLE

Nevertheless, the group remain unfazed by the seeming uncertainty that lies ahead. “For sure, the brotherhood, the chemistry cannot be lost,” says Dwight. “So, whether travelling is something that we will have to do during the next 10 or 20 years...we know that we will come back together to do something, whatever is called for at the time.” Dwight’s colleagues share his sentiments. Gershom said, “Something is there, something will always be there.” Drummer, Dylan Thomas concurred. “Dynamix is more than a band, it’s a family,” he added. We wish Dynamix all the best in their future endeavours, both individually and as a band.
God Friended Me
G
od Friended Me is a fairly new series. It started in September of 2018 and if it hasn’t already, the first season is about to come to a close. The series, as its name suggests is about Miles Finer, an atheist with a podcast that’s on the verge of dying when he gets a friend request from a ‘God’ account on Facebook. Brandon Michael Hall, who plays Miles Finer is the preacher’s son which is ironic considering he has trouble believing in God. But when he reluctantly accepts a persistent God Account’s friend request, which turns his life upside down, his faith is tested, and his podcast is saved. The series intertwines what most believe to be fate and the question about whether God exists or not. There are movies and shows that uncomfortably focus on the subject of religion and despite the theme, this isn’t one of them. It’s interesting to see how everyone is connected in the show. It’s even more interesting to see Miles start to come around after the God account undoubtedly changes his life. It’s like a domino effect. The account
helps Miles by allowing him to help those who need it the most. While he’s conflicted about having to submit to ‘God’, he equally does his bidding and tries fruitfully to find out who’s behind the controversial account. If you’re looking for something unique, I think God Friended Me might be exactly what you’re looking for. There’s nothing better than a show that remains interesting even after you’re aware of what direction it’s heading. It’s great, and hopefully it’s renewed for a second season!

Breadfruit Croquettes Ingredients 1 medium sized breadfruit 1 egg ½ cup finely chopped onions 4 large cloves garlic, chopped fine 2 stalks of celery, chopped fine 2 cups grated cheddar cheese
Method
Cut the breadfruit into quarters removing the center stalk and skins. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil, and boil the breadfruit flesh until it is soft and malleable. Drain the boiled breadfruit free of excess water in a colander or large sieve, and place the breadfruit in a bowl. Use a potato masher and pulverize the softened flesh. Set aside to allow it to cool down enough to handle. Add and stir in the rest of the ingredients except bread crumbs, and 34 DAZZLE

2 bunches of fresh parsley, chopped fine 2 cups of bread crumbs salt and pepper, to taste oil, for frying
blend together thoroughly. Shape the seasoned mixture into balls – the size of the balls is your choice, but of course the larger they are, the longer they will take to cook. Roll the balls in the bread crumbs, making sure they are coated evenly all over. Heat oil in a frying pan. When oil is hot gently lower balls into oil. Remove breadfruit croquettes from the oil when golden brown.
