‘Twas a night of Luminaria, and all through the trails, Wild creatures were glowing, from meerkats to snails. Desert Botanical Garden has so much to celebrate this season, and we are honored you are making our holiday tradition your holiday tradition. Much like the Garden, Luminaria has a rich history rooted in humble beginnings. What started off with homemade cookies and 700 hand-lit paper bags has attracted approximately 2 million visitors in its more than 40 years, serving as one of the most iconic holiday traditions in the state. This year we are thrilled to feature the glowing creatures of Wild Rising by Cracking Art. Learn more about the exhibition on pages 8 and 10 of the trail guide. We wish you a warm and wonderful holiday season, and thank you for joining us for Las Noches de las Luminarias!

Wild Rising llegó—it’s time to play, So let’s wander el Jardín, we’ll lead the way! Our frogs and meerkats by now you’ve found, Más animales unleashed are all around. Animal crossings signal to creatures ahead, Les gusta que los toques, but not climbed on or fed. Once you see where the arches stand tall, En tu imaginación, you may hear the wolf call. ¡Salta, salta! through a fluffle of rabbits, Dive into an SOS about plastic habits. A la vuelta de la esquina, things aren’t as they appear, Frogs form the cactus that we hold so dear. Head to our tallest cactus—face your fears, Este cocodrilo no muerde, he only sheds tears. Un safari de color once you’ve completed, Their message is one not to feel defeated. Todas las criaturas big, medium and small, We rely on each other—un planeta for all.

The great outdoors and the great indoors, all in one. Have you ever noticed that folks always say the great outdoors? Well, what about the great indoors? Can’t they be great, too? They sure can. And Maravilla Scottsdale is a perfect example. Some would say it’s about as beautiful as a retirement community can be. But here’s the best part. Maravilla is located smack-dab in the middle of the great outdoors, too. And you can take advantage of it all by joining one (or several) of our many active clubs. Come experience the great indoors AND outdoors for yourself at Maravilla Scottsdale. Please call 480.359.2664 to schedule your complimentary lunch and tour. RESORT R E T I R E M E N T

design with water in mind
The first thing to think about when landscaping is water. This is why we recommend xeriscape landscaping which requires the least amount of irrigation to thrive. There is always a potential for water shortage, so we’re always looking for alternate ways to protect our resources. It’s what happens when you SEE WATER DIFFERENTLY. TO LEARN MORE, VISIT
