A M E S S A G E FROM THE PRESIDENT
Greetings, This is a very dynamic time at the Club. There are some exciting developments to announce. The Club has hired Richard S. Mogensen as the interim General Manager. He will be starting on June 1st and he is expected to be here for 60 days, while we continue our search for a permanent general manager for the Club. Rich joins us from Streamsong Resort, Golf and Spa, where he served as their General Manager for over 7 years. Leo Chomiak Streamsong is an award winning golf resort set on 16,000 President acres, featuring 228 luxury guest rooms and suites, three nationally ranked 18 hole golf courses, five restaurants, luxury spa, sporting clays recreation, bass fishing, tennis, and archery and catering and conference space of over 25,000 sq. ft. of meeting facilities for up to 400+ guests. He has experience in managing major hotel and club facility renovations and openings. In addition, the Club has hired Julio C. Canales as the Food & Beverage Director. He will be starting on June 12th. Julio joins us from the Four Seasons Baltimore, where he ran their food and beverage operations for their fine and casual dining facilities, their lobby bar along with their banquet operations. Julio has over 20 years of experience. He has extensive experience at coaching and developing team members. Julio will work with Chef Jon to update our menu and create culinary events and experiences for the membership. Both Rich and Julio come from world class organizations known for their culture of excellence. Their hiring shows the Club’s commitment to raising the level of service to improve your experience at the Club. The search is in full gear for finding a new head golf pro. There are approximately 10 candidates under consideration. The hope is to announce a hire before the end of June. The clubhouse renovations continue to move forward. However, we have encountered some unexpected issues involving the need for additional low-voltage wiring, painting windows and replacing piping for the chiller. The renovation team is confident that these issues will not cause any major delays in the completion of the project. We are still working with the City of Coral Gables and the county for obtaining the permit for the 19th Hole. As soon as we have that we will begin work in that area. The greens on the golf course continue to improve. In June, we will commence our golf course maintenance program with the first scheduled aerification on June 1st. Our summer closure schedule can be found elsewhere in this edition. You may have noticed Jimmy Germana and team have started treating the right side rough on the 9th hole to eradicate the encroachment of Bermuda grass and weeds.
