Codices Mayas, WTA Finals Cancún

The relationship between tennis and Mayan culture is not direct, since modern tennis did not exist in the time of the Mayans. However, some researchers have pointed out similarities between the ball game played by the Mayans and sports such as tennis and squash.

The Mayan ball game was a ritual game with religious connotations and was often played on rectangular-shaped courts, where players hit a ball with their hips or forearms. Although the similarities are not exact, some have speculated whether it could have in some way influenced the evolution of more modern racket sports.

However, at Códices Mayas we took on the task of giving our products to the ‘best tennis players in the world’, such as Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, Cori Gauff, Jessica Pegula, Storm Hunter, etc., during the WTA FINALS CANCUN, fulfilling our objective of promoting the wonderful Mayan culture to the whole world and obtaining as a reward the commemorative bag with the signature of them, organizing authorities and elite commentators in a collector’s item.
