LEON ALVA ART MAGICAL WORLDS

León Alva is an artist with an overflowing imagination, a tireless creator of magical worlds. His works are populated by characters with big eyes and cosmic smiles that invite the viewer to travel to a playful universe, where happy dreams become reality.

Born in Mexico City in 1963, Alva grew up surrounded by the majestic murals of Carlos Mérida, and under the direct influence of key figures in Mexican art. His uncles, Ramón Alva de la Canal, a pioneer of the muralist movement, and Ramón Sánchez, who collaborated with giants such as Orozco, Siqueiros and Rivera, guided him in his first steps in the artistic world.

After the devastating earthquake of 1985, which destroyed the murals of his childhood, León decided to leave the city and move to the sea, finding new inspiration in Cancún. There, he became the most prolific painter in the region, becoming an icon in the Mexican Caribbean whose creativity seems to have no limits and he uses it to surprise.

His art has traveled the world, with more than 40 solo and group exhibitions in cities such as New York, Miami, Osaka, Geneva, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Havana, Montreal, Bologna, Belize, Paris, Bethlehem and his native Mexico City. All of his work has been meticulously documented, reflecting his tireless creativity and passion for building parallel realities through art.
