Training and Development - What we offer:
Education Durham - Governance Service provides an independent, high-quality professional clerking service and comprehensive training and development programme for Governors/Trustees of maintained schools, Single Academy and Multi-Academy Trusts. Our aim is to support your Governing Body/Trust Board to develop their skills and understanding in strategic leadership and accountability and to ensure compliance with your 3 core functions.
We provide a range of support including a comprehensive programme of centralised development which takes account of the statutory/legal requirements and national/local developments in leadership and governance and bespoke in house training. What we offer:
We provide expert advice and support on the recruitment and retention of teachers across all schools in County Durham. A range of services are available, some of which are centrally accessed, others are available on a consultancy basis.
A recruitment pool for Newly Qualifie Teachers (NQT) in both the primary and secondary phases. Head teachers with school vacancies will be able to access the NQT pool application forms securely. Candidates meeting the requirements of the vacancy and of interest to the school will be contacted by the head teacher directly and invited for interview. Appointments should be made in line with the Durham County Council recruitment and selection policy. Durham Supply Teacher Partnership is incorporated into this SLA and provides supply teachers to cover staff absence in schools. Our recruitment and selection of supply teachers is done in line with the Durham County Council recruitment and selection policy. All registered supply teachers are required to undertake our bespoke annual CPD, as well as having access to additional training courses. Advice on staffin structures and staff deployment. Incentives for staff retention. Easy to follow guidance is available on how to access the local and national initiatives including: - job share - retention allowances - career mapping - national professional qualificatio for head teachers Advice and guidance on career profilin for teachers. In order to help you be fully compliant, we have developed a support package and specialised training courses to deliver an integrated solution to safeguarding and child protection. These are especially tailored to County Durham schools and the local documentation provided by the Durham Safeguarding Children Partnership and other agencies.
Termly briefing via the schools’ extranet and the DSCP website to inform head teachers and designated staff about changes to safeguarding and child protection policy/practice/procedure, good practice and new resources. Telephone consultation support around relevant paperwork and procedures in safeguarding and child protection. When training is due, reminders are sent to schools. You are assured of a first class, consistent, integrated service which works professionally with all partners and stakeholders to meet their needs and aspirations. This is done through providing or brokering support and challenge to help schools, settings and academies continually improve.
What we offer:
We have developed our new service level agreement in consultation with school leaders and are pleased to offer a choice of partner or affiliate level. Bespoke arrangements are also available on request. Acknowledging that one-size does not fit all, our offer is relevant, responsive and flexible. At this time of challenging financial circumstances for schools Education Durham believes that the revised SLA structures provide the flexibility that our partners need to purchase services efficiently, ensuring valu for money. The Education Durham team has a proven track record and can respond to specific and detailed requests across a wide range of training and development needs. All members of the team are skilled professionals using evidenced based approaches and drawing upon a wide range of educational leadership, subject and inspection expertise. The Education Durham team includes experienced school and system leaders, headteachers, experienced and current practising Ofsted inspectors, national subject leads, examiners and CPD leaders. Each SLA is offered annually to schools, academies and other institutions, and runs over a financial year, 1 April to 31 March. Your school will be allocated an account manager who will work with you to find the best SLA for your school, develop a bespoke support and training package to meet your needs and oversee the contract process from commission to delivery.

Cleaning Equipment Maintenance and Repairs
Cleanliness and tidiness may seem low on the organisation’s agenda, but we all know that a clean, safe and healthy premises makes for a better working environment. Cooker Service
With technology seemingly at the forefront of the 21st century, there is still a place in the curriculum for more traditional subjects such as food technology. Budding chefs need safe, working equipment, which is where we can assist. This service ensures staff and students are protected by maintaining, repairing and testing cooker equipment in line with Gas Safe and/or electrical standards. Whilst this service is primarily aimed as the schools’ market our qualified Gas Safe certification enables us to maintain and service all non-commercial gas and electric cookers.
Electrical Installations
Radiation Service
Our competent team can undertake a broad range of electrical installations, completed in accordance to the current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
Employing a fully trained Radiation Protection Supervisor means we can support your school in ensuring the harmful radiation sources kept in your science department do not affect the health of students, staff and visitors.
Installation of electrical sockets; Upgrading lighting systems;
The service involves measuring and ecording radiation levels, as well as providing advice on legislation and best practice.
