Datasheet of Afoxolaner

Description: Afoxolaner is an isoxazoline that inhibits insect and acarine ligand-gated chloride channels, in particular those gated by the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), thereby blocking pre- and post- synaptic transfer of chloride ions across cell membranes. It induces hyperexcitation in the nervous system of susceptible insects. This leads to uncontrolled insect nervous system activity and death of insects and acarines.Afoxolaner is selectively toxic to the insect and acarine nervous system due to differential sensitivity for insect and acarine GABA receptors compared to mammalian GABA receptors.
