D. C. EVEREST SCHOOL DISTRICT

FutureReady Restart Working Together to Stay Healthy

Welcome back! We are excited to welcome our students back! The support and partnership of our Everest community has long played a critical role in the success of our district. Now, we must work together to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our community. Families can help us maintain healthy learning environments and decrease the likelihood of having to temporarily close a classroom, building or our entire district by monitoring personal health, keeping students home when they are ill, following recommended quarantine and isolation protocols, and assisting with contact tracing as needed. Please check our FutureReady Restart webpage often for the latest information concerning: DCE healthy learning environment protocols; COVID-19 information from local, state and federal health officials; Frequently asked questions (FAQs); Technical assistance for students and families; Bus rules and information.

Regardless of the learning environment, parents are asked to contact the attendance office if their student is ill and unable to attend in-person instruction or complete remote/e-learning sessions. Precautions at School IF A STUDENT BECOMES ILL AT SCHOOL Symptomatic students will be removed from the classroom and remain in the building’s designated isolation room until a parent/guardian arrives. Parents/guardians will be responsible for promptly picking up the student. Parents/guardians will remain in their car and contact the front office upon their arrival. Parents should make arrangements in advance if they are unable to pick up their student promptly. Please ensure your contact information is up to date.

IF THERE IS A COVID-19 CASE AT SCHOOL The Marathon County Health Department will notify the district if there is a confirmed case of COVID-19 linked to a school. D.C. Everest will not share the names or health information of students and staff. Instead the district will work with public health officials on communication and the next steps, which may include isolation, quarantining, self-monitoring, contact tracing, and testing. Following a positive case, a thorough cleaning of the school will be conducted.

HEALTH ROOM AND ISOLATION ROOM Each school will have a health room and isolation room. The health room will be used for students who do not feel ill. This room will be used to: Administer medication for identified conditions Diabetic care Injuries Bloody nose Feminine hygiene products Bathroom accidents The isolation room will be used for any student who is feeling ill and is exhibiting symptoms that are not their baseline for their known health condition.
