2020-2021 School Year Handbook Addendum Pertaining to D.C. Everest Future Ready Restart and Related COVID-19 Protocol

In August of 2020 the D.C. Everest Area School Board approved the Future Ready Restart Plan. That plan centered on a safe return to the 2020-2021 school year, prioritizing the most essential educational outcomes while allowing choices for families.

Putting these ideas into action requires adjustments to many of our typical procedures. We also anticipate, given the nature of this public health crisis, that new information will emerge and require us to continue to refine our practices in order to ensure a safe and effective school experience for all students. This anticipation of additional safety-related adjustments could apply to all aspects of our operations. While we pledge to continue communicating with our families in a timely and transparent way, we also want to make you aware that temporary changes have been/will be made related to a number of areas currently described in the handbook.

Procedural Changes

*Health Room B, Serving to Isolate COVID-19 Symptoms Students who feel ill and are exhibiting symptoms that are not their baseline for known health conditions will be removed from the classroom and remain in the building's designated isolation room, Health Room B, until a parent/guardian arrives. When appropriate, parents/guardians will be responsible for promptly picking up the student and should contact the office upon their arrival while remaining in their car. In addition, arrangements should be made in advance if the parents/guardians are unable to pick up their student promptly.
