With Top Gun’s pedigree and EPDS expect his calves to improve your profit at weaning or on the grid. He is in the top 15 % CW, 1% MB, 15% ADG and top 4% FPI in the breed. Sired by Prophet, an Angus bull that is known to sire docile cattle that are born small, grow like crazy and are consistently high for marbeling. Top Gun, himself, ultrasounded the highest IMF in the herd, 4.285 (122 Ratio) with the least amount of fat, .19 inches of back fat! Now that is some beef. His dam, a favorite in our herd, calved one of our top bulls every year for the past five years. Top Gun is tall, long and thick with an impressive hind quarter and balanced look - a great choice for more mature cows. CED 13

BA 75 bull sired by BBDM Bolton Pay Day, AI sire known for calving ease and growth and who has consistently put some really stout bull calves in the sale the past two years, and whose calves consistently stand out! Use Huck to combine calving ease (top 30 % CED and top 20 % CEM) and muscle (-.06 FT (top 10%) and -.30 YG (top 15%) in a moderate mature size. Huck’s dam was injured so he was raised by another Gelbvieh/Balancer breeder from birth to weaning and isn’t rationed in with our herd but if he was, he’d be at the top. He has a 769 pound AWW, 1289 AYW and a 3.87 ADG. Bolton

Homozygous Black, Homozygous Polled 50% Gelbvieh Balancer Reliabull is another bull that ranked one of our top 205 weights at 726# (105 ratio)! His daddy, JRI Probity 254D28, was the 2017 National Balancer Futurity winner in Denver and Probity’s sire is Basin Payweight 1652! Reliabull’s mama, JOB DANELL CD Rue 12B, is a beautifully uddered female! This bull’s “genomic enhanced” EPDs (mostly the Milk EPD of 8) is an example of why I am having trouble accepting the accuracy of these DNA generated EPDs! Neither Reliabull nor Probity have any daughters old enough to be raising calves, yet his Milk EPD has dropped by about 14 points! I have noticed this drop in the Milk EPD of many other animals throughout the breed with no evidence of the cause! To the contrary, Reliabull’s dam has a nursing ratio of 105 on 3 calves and she produces lots of milk! I believe this bull’s Milk EPD, more accurately, should be around 19 or 20. Danell

ANGUS EPDS DEFINED - (ONLY THOSE SHOWN IN CATALOG ARE IN THIS EXPLANATION)
MATERNAL Maternal Milk EPD (Milk), is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability as expressed in his daughters compared to daughters of other sires. In other words, it is that part of a calf’s weaning weight attributed to milk and mothering ability. CARCASS Carcass Weight EPD (CW), expressed in pounds is a predictor of the differences in hot carcass weight of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.
Marbling EPD (Marb), expressed as a fraction of the difference in USDA marbling score of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Ribeye Area EPD (RE), expressed in square inches, is a predictor of the difference in ribeye area of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. $VALUE INDEXES are multi-trait selection indexes, expressed in dollars per head, to assist beef producers by adding simplicity to genetic selection decisions. The $Value is an estimate of how future progeny of each sire are expected to perform, on average, compared to progeny of other sires in the database if the sires were randomly mated to cows and if calves were exposed to the same environment. Weaned Calf Value ($W), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for preweaning merit. $W includes both revenue and cost adjustments associated with differences in birth weight, weaning direct growth, maternal milk and mature cow size. Beef Value ($B), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for postweaning and carcass value compared to progeny of other sires. are multi-trait selection indexes to assist beef producers by adding simplicity to genetic selection decisions. $Values are reported in dollars per head, where a higher value is more favorable. The $Value is an estimate of how future progeny of each sire are expected to perform, on average, compared to progeny of other sires in the database if the sires were randomly mated to cows and if calves were exposed to the same environment.

PRODUCTION EPDS Calving Ease Direct (CED), is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf heifers. It predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to first-calf heifers. Birth Weight EPD (BW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit birth weight to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Weaning Weight EPD (WW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Yearling Weight EPD (YW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Scrotal Circumference EPD (SC), expressed in centimeters, is a predictor of the difference in transmitting ability for scrotal size compared to that of other sires.

A super stout Resource son by our super powerful Upward daughter that has not failed us yet. She simply knows how to produce big topped, big butted bulls that will put pounds into their calves. This bull is no different. The mass down his top and into his hip is awesome and he has a look to boot. The only criticism we have with this cow is that she has only given us one female in 8 years! This is simply the most powerful bull in our offering this year. He is massivley made, a bull surely to add pounds to all his calves. Don’t count out his daughters as replacements either. The cow that he is out of is super maternal with big rib, lots of dimension down her top and as sound as can be. She is an eye catcher out in the pasture that produces a top calf every single year. A stylish made bull by the bull that Todd Foran sold to Krebs Ranch. We were super impressed with that bull and this calf seems to have a lot of the same qualities of that bull. He is smooth shouldered, long bodied and carries deep into his quarter. His Ten X dam is a consistent producer for us and comes from a very strong maternal family. Dam Production: WR 6@100 YR 4@101

This bull was a beast all last summer. A younger son of None Better, he simply hit the ground and exploded. His Upward dam is a favorite of all who see her. She is big bodied and massively made and she passes that on to all of her calves. If you want to add pounds at weaning, do not overlook this bull. The shear mass and dimension he has, his calves will surely tip the scales in the fall. Dam Production: WR 5@1112 YR 3@111

This super cool bull is out of one of our up and coming Granite daughters. This calf is deep bodied, big hipped and solid made. Being a younger calf did not hinder him at all. He was one of the top performers. The cow family backing this bull is phenominal. We have a ton of cows tracing back to this cow family with in the herd. This bull should sire some calves with pounds and be sure to consider his heifers as keepers.

He may be the youngest bull we are offering, but he is probably one of the higher growth bulls. This young calf by our herdsire is simply one that kept turning our heads all summer. He just kept getting better and better. His moderate framed three year old dam is fast becoming one of our favorites. He should sire some growthy calves that will tip the scale in the fall.
