Breeder’s Choice Gelbvieh Bull Futurity Will Be Live With Remote Voting
Breeder’s Choice Gelbvieh Bull Futurity will be live on Facebook Live this year. Follow Breeder’s Choice Gelbvieh Bull Futurity on Facebook and watch live. Members that are not present will be watching on Facebook Live and voting remotely this year via email and text. Remote voting members will have a ballot sent to them to be voted while watching the Facebook Live online. The ballot will be filled out and submitted for members votes to be counted. Members voting remotely will be sent separate ballots for each voting respectively as the bulls enter the ring. Proxy voting as in the past no longer exists as a new By-Law change to the futurity rules effective in 2024. Please contact Chris Mitchell to set up your remote voting at 334-695-1371
General Information The Breeder’s Choice Gelbvieh Bull Futurity was initiated by Gelbvieh breeders and supporters to increase participation in the National Gelbvieh Show, the National Gelbvieh Sale and to identify the most useful young sires in the Gelbvieh breed. The sponsor of the annual futurity is the Breeder’s Choice Bull Futurity, Inc., a non-profit organization, not associated with the American Gelbvieh Association. The Futurity winners will be selected by scored balloting of the participating breeder members. Ballots must have a different bull in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions. Ballots must include all three positions. Member present will vote on site and members not present will vote remotely. The consignor of the futurity winner shall receive the greater of approximately 80% of the net futurity funds or the net proceeds from the sale of the bull in the National Sale . Two runners-up will be identified to receive approximately 10% respectively of the net futurity funds. The Futurity winner will be sold in the National Gelbvieh Sale. The lesser of the net sale proceeds of the winning bull or the net futurity proceeds will be given to one breeder/member who will be selected by a random drawing at the Futurity Social on Sunday night, January 12, at the Embassy Suites, Denver Central Park. Each Futurity breeder member has the right to receive 20 (twenty) units of semen from the winning bull. The voting will be held at the Stockyards Event Center, Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 11:00 am. The top 3 vote winning bulls in the initial voting will come back to the arena for a second voting to select and announce The Breeder’s Choice Gelbvieh Bull Futurity Champion. Breeder’s Choice Gelbvieh Bull Futurity final events and drawing will held at Embassy Suites Hotel, Denver Central Park, January 11, 2025 at 7:00 pm. Food and drinks will be available at the Futurity and AGA Foundation Event night The 2025 Futurity is limited to 53 breeder memberships. We are selling 4 memberships during the Futurity Final Events at the Embassy Suites Hotel, Denver Central Park. Buyers of the new memberhips will be included in the drawing. All bulls entered in the 2025 Breeder’s Choice Gelbvieh Bull Futurity have been DNA tested for HD Genomic EPDs and are tested for the following genetic defects: AM; NH; CA; and DD. The winning Breeder’s Choice Futurity bull is AI qualified and all tests have been completed to meet the AGA requirements for AI sires.

The market signals are clear. Produce more marbling and more performance or become irrelevant fast. What better way to add both in a docile, extremely eye-appealing package with maternal strength than joining us and using Post Rock R.O.I.153M1. He has a simple name that makes a bold statement and has the genetic strength and predictors to back it up. Top 20% Marbling, top 15% Weaning Weight, top 10% Yearling Weight, top 15% Carcass Weight, and top 25% FPI, combined with top 55% Calving Ease. Maternally, he combines two of our best-uddered, soundest-structured, most eye-appealing donors at Post Rock on both sides of his pedigree. His donor dam, Queen Bee, is a past high seller by several thousand dollars at a past Chimney Butte sale, and her 11 year old dam was the highest selling aged cow in the recent Chimney Butte dispersal. A Queen Bee son was our second high selling Balancer bull in 2024. On the top side of the pedigree, the maternal strength abounds in the famous 198L cow family at Cedar Top and 82F, our donor who produced our 2023 Balancer Futurity Champion Post Rock Prominent. His sire, Post Rock Icon, was our 2023 high selling purebred bull to Flying H Genetics who is outbreeding all purebred bulls we’ve used in recent years. Long term returns on investments are tough to come by in production agriculture, but using R.O.I. in 2025 can produce immediate returns on Marbling, Performance, Maternal, and Market Share.

He also has the substance and power we have come to expect from a purebred bull and brings an extra shot of body and dimension. Evaluate his genetic chart and you will see he ranks towards the top of the breed in Growth, Maternal and Carcass. He offers an extended front with an incredible length of spine and a robust middle. Built on an ideal foot and leg structure to ensure longevity, he gets out and moves with ease and fluidity. Mac Daddy nursed a young BNC At Ease daughter who has weaned 4 calves for a 116 ratio. Performance wise, he himself weaned off at 733# to ratio 117. His growth EPD’s rank him top 4% for WW and 10% for YW. A full brother, CIBS Dunbar 3962L, was purchased in our 2024 sale by Twin View Livestock in Canada and they have already utilized him in their ET and AI programs.
