The sire of this solid black purebred Angus, MAR Innovation 251, was selected to use in our AI program, not only because of exceptional calving ease, growth, and carcass, but also because of his sound feet and structure. We had 5 calves from Innovation 251 – 4 heifers and 1 bull. All 4 heifers were retained in herd and - Wow! – they are as exciting as this bull! This sire adds length, depth, weaning and yearling growth, and sound feet. Innovator has a great disposition, a clean sheath and big scrotal circumference, he is long as a freight train and very eye appealing and a score of 10 for tenderness! Innovator’s performance speaks for itself – a 726 lb weaning wt (109 ratio), a 1461 lb yearling wt (112 ratio), a 13.40 ribeye (101 ratio), and a 4.570 IMF (144 ratio)! If you are looking for a purebred Angus cow bull that will put pounds on your calves and put replacements heifers in your pen, get excited because you are looking at him! We will be A.I.ing to this sire in the future and collecting this great son, Innovator, before he leaves the ranch. Danell

This homozygous polled, homozygous black 50% Balancer bull is as exciting as they come! From a 1st calf heifer, starting at 73 lbs and growing to a 742 lb adjusted 205 wt (112 ratio) and a 1363 yearling wt (105 ratio) with our highest average daily gain of 4.9 lb/day (126 ratio), Riser’s performance is very rare and he embodies a seedstock producer’s goal! Riser’s mama, Reesa 11B ET, comes from our best Angus cow family with a perfect udder. Another cow bull with exceptional calving ease and growth in the Top 1% of the breed, marbling in the Top 20%, and FPI (feeder profit index) in the Top 2%! This bull is a herdsire prospect that will add pounds at weaning, improve udders in your replacement heifer pen, and comes with a great disposition. Riser is smooth fronted and big hipped with exceptional length.

Tanner is a polled/scurred, solid black 75% Gelbvieh Balancer that started life at 78 lbs and has a 699 lb 205 wt (105 ratio). Tanner is one of those bull calves that has caught our eye since birth! I had to keep reminding myself that this high growth calf started at only 78 lb! Tanner is another cow bull with exceptional calving ease, strong growth, and great carcass for a 75% Gelbvieh. He also has a good disposition and is clean fronted and big hipped!

This homozygous polled, homozygous black (solid black) 63% Gelbvieh Balancer is a true heifer bull. We don’t keep many heifer bulls to sell in our sale – when we do, we are pretty sure he will be a “sleep easy” heifer bull. We A.I. our heifers to Joseph’s sire, Joey 7A, without any worry at calving. This 74 lb BW bull is very clean fronted, good footed, tight sheathed, and should be considered for your heifer program!

He is a cow bull that has CE in the Top 3%, BW in the Top 10%, and he grew to a 685 lb 205 wt (103 ratio) and a 1247 lb yearling wt (96 ratio)! I use Razzle’s sire, Drew, because he improves udders and produces great mamas and Razzle’s dam is from a line with strong maternal traits. Upward Bound is a homozygous polled, homozygous black (solid black) 50% Balancer out of Sitz Upward 307R. An 83 lb BW, a 722 lb adjusted WW (109 ratio), a 1265 lb yearling wt (97 ratio), and a 14.10 ribeye (104 ratio) make him one of my favorites! In fact – if we had not won the Balancer Futurity bull at the Northwestern Stock Show in Denver this past January, this bull was one I wanted to use as our herdsire. He is stout made and good footed with a big scrotal measurement. I would have liked him to be a cleaner fronted Balancer bull, but he has everything else I am looking for in a herd bull, including a 9 for Tenderness! Upward Bound is in the Top 10% for CED, BW, WW, YW, Milk, and CEM – a rare thing to have exceptional calving ease and birth weight EPDs with such strong growth EPDs! Coalminer is a single polled, homozygous black purebred Gelbvieh bull. He is another cow bull that is a powerhouse to look at and his EPD package backs his performance! They are exceptional from calving ease to WW and YW (Top 3%) to carcass and Top 2% for FPI (feeder profit index). Coalminer is big hipped, long bodied, deep ribbed, with a good disposition and performance plus! Coalminer’s mama, Natalie 11Y, was the female Gelbvieh Futurity winner at the Billings N.I.L.E. in 2011. She has turned out to be quite the producer. She has a 97 BW ratio (3 calves), a 110 WW ratio (3 calves), and a 102 YW ratio (2 calves). Natalie is beautifully uddered, has an excellent disposition, and is good footed. Coalminer should raise a powerful set of calves with quality heifer replacement potential that will come easily.

Grand Slam is a homozygous polled, homozygous black (solid black) purebred Gelbvieh that is appropriately named. Mama hit a homerun with bases loaded with this bull calf! Grand Slam is one of the most exciting purebred bulls we have ever raised! He is one of the most clean fronted, small headed, big square hipped, tight sheathed, good footed, big topped, eye appealing bull you will run across! Grand Slam offers CE in the Top 10% with WW and YW in the Top 1% - not many bulls show as wide an EPD spread! His carcass traits put him in the Top 10% for MB, Top 1% for FPI, and Top 4% for EPI! Those EPDs are backed up by his performance – weaning at 747 lbs (112 ratio), yearling at 1290 lbs (99ratio), ribeye of 13.95 (103 ratio), IMF of 2.749 (87 ratio) with a .19 fat thickness (77 ratio)! His dam, Pammy 15Z is co-owned with Bar IV Livestock in Kentucky and was the Futurity winner at the Billings N.I.L.E. in 2014. Pammy was sold to Bar IV Livestock at the Select Female Sale and we bought back ½ ownership and kept her home in Montana. She is beautifully uddered, and good footed with a calm disposition. To sum this all up – Grand Slam will be collected for in herd use before he leaves the ranch, will have an AI permit and we feel he will make an impact on the future of the breed. Danell

Spitz is a purebred Angus that will be an exceptional cow bull that started life with an 89 lb birth weight and grew to a 746 lb adj 205 (112 ratio) and a 1364 lb yearling wt (105 ratio) with a 4.495 IMF (142 ratio)! Spitz is by far the most powerful bull we have raised from this outstanding cow family. His natural dam is also one of our lead donor dams and we have kept a pile of females from her and her mama because of the beautiful udders and their easy fleshing ability. If you retain your heifers, Spitz should have a very positive effect on your heifers’ udder quality, growth, milk, structure, and carcass. Spitz also has a 10 for Tenderness (on a scale from 1 to 10), which also makes him unique. He is clean fronted, tight sheathed, and good footed with a good disposition. Spitz will be collected for in herd use before he leaves the ranch. January 2017 American Gelbvieh Association Non-Parent Gelbvieh Average EPD’s

I love this bull’s dispostion! He is halter broke with a puppy-dog dispostion. He combines a calving ease, maternal power, high growth and high carcass EPD profile with the look of a true beef bull. Use this bull’s great genetics in herds that need a bump in multiple EPDs without sacrificing phenotype and maternal strength. He weaned off his dam at 876 pounds earning him a 110 ratio, ultrasounded at 1186 pounds - 106 ratio, and all of his index values are in the top 2 to 10% in the breed.

This bull has a much depth and dimension of rib as a person could ask for but yet he still has the growth and muscle to make him a complete package. his young dam is definately making her mark for Tanner.

ANGUS EPDS defined - (ONLY THOSE SHOWN IN CATALOG ARE IN THIS EXPLANATION)
Marbling EPD (Marb), expressed as a fraction of the difference in USDA marbling score of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Ribeye Area EPD (RE), expressed in square inches, is a predictor of the difference in ribeye area of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. $VALUE INDEXES are multi-trait selection indexes, expressed in dollars per head, to assist beef producers by adding simplicity to genetic selection decisions. The $Value is an estimate of how future progeny of each sire are expected to perform, on average, compared to progeny of other sires in the database if the sires were randomly mated to cows and if calves were exposed to the same environment. Weaned Calf Value ($W), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for preweaning merit. $W includes both revenue and cost adjustments associated with differences in birth weight, weaning direct growth, maternal milk and mature cow size. Beef Value ($B), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for postweaning and carcass value compared to progeny of other sires. are multi-trait selection indexes to assist beef producers by adding simplicity to genetic selection decisions. $Values are reported in dollars per head, where a higher value is more favorable. The $Value is an estimate of how future progeny of each sire are expected to perform, on average, compared to progeny of other sires in the database if the sires were randomly mated to cows and if calves were exposed to the same environment.
Maternal Maternal Milk EPD (Milk), is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability as expressed in his daughters compared to daughters of other sires. In other words, it is that part of a calf’s weaning weight attributed to milk and mothering ability. carcass Carcass Weight EPD (CW), expressed in pounds is a predictor of the differences in hot carcass weight of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.

Production epds Calving Ease Direct (CED), is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf heifers. It predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to first-calf heifers. Birth Weight EPD (BW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit birth weight to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Weaning Weight EPD (WW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Yearling Weight EPD (YW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Scrotal Circumference EPD (SC), expressed in centimeters, is a predictor of the difference in transmitting ability for scrotal size compared to that of other sires.
