Here is a good example of why we have used the Iron Horse bull. His daughters make exceptional females; they have great udder shape, are clean made and attractive. Bred to Nevada for an early Feb calf you can’t go wrong here.

All things considered what a great replacement female she will make. She is deep bodied easy fleshing and made right. We think she is one of the really good ones and would not have considered selling her but we kept her full sister from last years heifer crop.

A good red one is hard to find, her dam JCOV 707E is one of those cows that easily made her way into the donor pen at a young age. This female is sound and will be sure to catch your eye as soon as you walk in the pen. We have been keeping an eye on her since she was a calf. This female brings alot to the table!

Really put together nice. She is long made with plenty of thickness, style and eye appeal. Her dam has been a consistent producer of the higher end calves each year. These are the kind of females you can expect from Apollo.

This heifer has some big shoes to fill and in our opinion she is doing a good job. She is a full sib to JCOV GUINNESS and out of a female that we purchased from Taubenheim Gelbvieh. Her dam is and extremly deep bodied female that is extremly stylish and functional. This is a hard one to let go of!

A really functional female here sired by YJMR Iron Horse who is known to produce good solid females. This female is no exception, stout made, with good foot and bone. Her dam is a moderate sized cow coming from a long line of females that created a solid foundation for our herd.

What a great show prospect here. If we had been able to show in 2020 this heifer would have been our top pick of the show heifers. She is a full sister to Lot 1. Such an outstanding couple of females we have flushed her mother again to Apollo for 2021 calves.

If your looking for an outcross here she is, rocket fronted and big ribbed, she is sired by the Champion Gelbvieh bull AWB The Boxer. Her dam is a balancer and a real eye catcher with perfect teat size and udder structure. She is a favorite to everyone who sees her. We really look forward to the future of this female!

JLSL Apollo has proven himself to stamp his calves with a big hip, top and rear quarter. He is an outcross to alot of the cattle in todays market and will be sure to add a lot to any herd. We have been extremely happy with the quality he produces in both bulls and females.
JLSL APOLLO 759E
Mark and Nancy Covington established Covington Gelbvieh in 1982 in South Central Colorado. We managed Broken Fork Gelbvieh Ranch where we were impressed with the natural traits the Gelbvieh breed has to offer, the docility of the animals, the mothering ability, the growth and structure of the calves, and the ability for Gelbvieh cattle to perform at higher elevations. In 1990 we moved to Montrose Colorado with kids, Justin, Ann Marie, and Nicole in tow. Upon moving to Montrose Colorado the goal became to raise cattle that would work at the higher elevations and promote a cooperative purebred Gelbvieh bull sale. In 1991 the Pot Of Gold Bull Sale was established and the ever changing business of raising bulls would begin. Our goal was to establish cattle that would work not only in the region but across multiple states. Coming from the mounatins these cattle had to be structurally correct and would have to work not only for the purebred breeder but also for the commercial man. As time went on with the kids getting more and more involved we started to travel to junior shows including state fairs and AGJA junior nationals, allowing the kids to be involved as well. Jumping forward a few years and after a lot of college experiences we are still involved as a family. Having everyone back in the same area with grand kids here and some on the way we are proud to say we are passing the torch on to more generations to come. We take pride in where we live and how we run cattle. Running cattle from 5400ft to 10,000ft in some of the thickest and roughest country Colorado has to offer. Our cattle have to be structurally sound with good feet and legs in order to hold up. They also have to convert feed into pounds when there is little to chose from. The high elevation brings on its challenges as well, Pulminary Artery Presure Testing (PAP) is something we have to test for in both bulls and heifers. We have been taking test data for 39 years, there are studies proving that a lower PAP test animal will survive at higher elevations and reduces sudden death in stocker calves while being fed at lower elevations due to bad hearts. We have full faith in our breeding program, and know any of these breeding animals offered will be a positive impact on your program and the Gelbvieh Breed. -Covington Gelbvieh-

THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR LONG TIME FRIENDS & CUSTOMERS FOR THE CONTINUED SUPPORT! SALE TERMS BREEDING GUARANTEE: All females sold under the conditions “safe in calf ” have been pregnancy checked, and sell with no further guarantee. No guarantee is given that bred females will deliver a live calf. All heifer calves are guaranteed breeders. If the heifer failed to breed, we require a statement from the veterinarian who checked her, stating the problem and that the problem was not due to negligence or improper management, which will void the guarantee. This guarantee may be void if 1) a female is highly obese, has been shown extensively past July 1st and has not steadily been attempted to be bred and 2) if she is flushed at any time in the first year after the date of the sale 3) or if she is in poor body condition. These three exemptions do not apply if the female is examined by our vet to have an underdeveloped reproductive tract that would have been present at the time she was sold. Infections or other enlargement do not constitute “undeveloped.” 100% of the purchase price less salvage value on heifer calves will be credited to the next sale. No other expenses occurred in the female will be reimbursed to the buyer. In cases where the animal is subject to hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques or damage caused by foreign bodies after the sale, this contract is null and void. The seller is not responsible for sickness not apparent at time of sale. It is useless to breed more than two heat cycles, artificially. If they haven’t settled artificially then, they must be put with a fertile bull for the summer. In no event will the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price, less salvage value. TRUCKING: All trucking, pricing and trucking fees are the responsibility of the buyer, but we will help you all we can with coordinating loads. CONTRACT: The above Terms and Conditions of this sale shall constitute a contract between buyer and seller and be equally binding on both. Animals that are resold following the sale shall constitute a separate trans- action and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected there to are not covered by these Terms and Conditions. RISK: All animals are at the owner’s risk prior to their sale and become the property of the buyer as soon as the animal is declared sold by DVAUCTION at which time the buyer assumes all risk. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND GETTING ANY AND ALL INSURANCES AS SOON AS POSSIBLY. SEMEN LOTS: Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs of semen
