This premier event has evolved from several successful sales to become one of the best in the central United States. In the early 2000’s, the American Gelbvieh Association hosted the Maternal Edge sales which then turned into several years of Warner Beef Genetics and Cedar Top Ranch’s commercial sales. A multi-breed approach to seedstock and replacement female marketing is not a new concept. However, an event with the volume of quality females, planned matings, and unconditional customer service is not easily duplicated. I speak for the entire group in saying this is the best one to date.

All the females selling have been diligently combed through to take the headache away from replacement female buying. The offering in this sale is the front end of nearly 5,000 heifer calves total born on the respective ranches. Regardless of breed type, calving date preferences and lot size, this sale offers what no other sale can.

The heifers are AI bred to proven ABS Sires. You can be confident in the calving ease and performance of your calf crop. Plus, the marketability of the coming calf crop adds value to your bottom line.

LOTS 28-44 / 121 HEAD OF BALANCER HEIFERS Balancer females that are sourced from our own commercial and registered Balancer herd and from top Warner Beef bull customers. We take great pride in keeping our cowherd aligned with the needs of today’s commercial cattlemen. The females will carry 25%-50% Gelbvieh blood, most of these heifers are sired by bulls that are 3/8 to 1/2 Gelbvieh. Understanding the balance between maternal efficiency and performance is our highest priority. Heifers sell bred to Tehama Patriarch, Ruggles Charisma, Beiber Energize and cleaned up to Angus bulls.

LOTS 1-3 / 30 HEAD OF ANGUS HEIFERS These exceptional heifers come right out of the replacement pen. They carry a lot of Basin Angus, Sitz Angus, & Hoffman Angus genetics, and are heifers from proven cow families. They will be a great addition to anyone’s commercial cattle herd. They have excellent feet, udders, and dispositions that come in an extremely attractive package. They should raise heavy muscled, powerful calves that will tip the scales for many years. Bred to the very popular ABS sire Tehama Patriarch.

LOTS 59-70 / 150 HEAD F1 BALDY HEIFERS These fancy heifers are both home-raised and purchased. The Hermes Livestock baldies are bred specifically for the commercial cattlemen. Originating out of an exceptional black angus herd these heifers are raised and developed on the plains of Northeastern Colorado. Using both A.I. and natural service, carefully selected Hereford genetics are used to sire these heifers that will make exceptional easy fleshing cows, that are extremely fertile, with the longevity everyone expects from the F1 Female. The purchased heifers originate from two large ranches that outsource all their strictly black Angus replacement females, and service only to Hoffman Hereford sires from Thedford, NE. This means that these heifers are sorted out of 400 head of F1 heifers from each ranch that do not retain their own replacements. Bred to the ABS sire Ruggles Charisma.

We have been sourcing these heifers for the last five years and then breeding them back to PB Simmental bulls. They have raised some of our best and biggest calves with several raising bulls and replacement females.

LOTS 71-73 / 25 HEAD OF SIMANGUS HEIFERS Sorted from 400 head of top-end SimAngus heifers, the feeder mates went on to top the Superior sale in 2021. Steer calves on last year’s heifers weaned off at 635 pounds at six months of age. They will be a 5/8 Simmental, 3/8 Angus cross. We utilize A.I. on our cows to progress the genetics, especially on the maternal side. Alot of these heifers will be sired by Winchester 3030, who stands in stud at Beef 360. You are going to drive the wheels off the truck to find heifers with this kind of docility and high maternal traits. They will raise big, soggy, deep middled steers or high-quality replacement females. Heifers are AI’d to sexed female Hickok semen and cleaned up by Beaman Angus low birth weight Casino Bomber sons. Ai’d for 10 days, due to start calving Feb 7th and bulls were pulled June 22nd making their last possible due date March 31st.
