IMPACT 2018
P R O S P E C T U S
The largest and oldest mission organization focused on serving Spanish speakers globally
Why
Camino’s mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ among and with Spanish speakers globally. Social, economic, demographic and missional factors demand we come along side them with compassion and innovation. Demographic Reasons
Economic Reasons
Globally, 437 million people speak Spanish
1 in 5 Latin Americans live in chronic poverty
natively, second only to Mandarin
20% lack access to basic health care services
17% of the US population (55 million) speaks
40% of young people are neither studying nor
Spanish. 45 million of them are not Christ followers
working
By 2050, 106 million Latinos will reside in the United States
Missional Reasons There are still unreached Spanish-speaking countries.
Social Reasons Corruption - 12 Latin American countries are among the world’s most corrupt Violence - There are more violent deaths per year in El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico than due to terrorism worldwide Immigration - Massive global migration driven by violence, poverty and corruption
Less than 5% follow Christ in Uruguay. In Spain it is less than 1% God is raising up an army of cross-cultural missionaries from Latin America to go where US missionaries have been historically unable to enter. They have a huge need for training and resources False teaching is rampant in Latin America Only 5% of pastors are trained for pastoral ministry The task our Lord gave us is to make disciples, not just converts. That task is far from over
