THE

SHOWS ABC/DISNEY TELEVISION STUDIOS

Jimmy Kimmel Live! Following a brief hiatus in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jimmy Kimmel is back in the studio with in-person guests for his late-night talk show. Known for segments like ‘Mean Tweets’ where celebrities read out reallife negative tweets directed towards them, Jimmy Kimmel Live! is the longest running late-night talk show on ABC. Rebel Inspired by the life of executive producer Erin Brockovich, the show follows renegade legal advocate Annie ‘Rebel’ Bello (Katey Sagal) as she fights for the causes and people she believes in. Though she may not have a law degree, Rebel will go to any length to win for the people she cares about. AMAZON PRIME VIDEO

Small Axe Created and directed by Steve McQueen, this five-part anthology series tells distinct stories about West Indian immigrants in London. Taking place from the 1960s to 1980s, these true stories focus on the experiences

of Black people in Britain as they fight to overcome adversity and a system entrenched in racism. Solos This sci-fi anthology series, created by David Weil, is an exploration of what it means to be human. In seven unique stories, different characters deal with isolation and the impact of being alone in uncertain times. They discover connections with each other in the shared human experience of searching for togetherness. Sylvie’s Love Sylvie Parker (Tessa Thompson) works at her father’s record shop in 1950s Harlem, where she meets Rob Halloway (Nnamdi Asomugha), an aspiring saxophonist, in this drama film written, directed, and produced by Eugene Ashe. Their initial romance lasts only a summer, but a chance meeting, many years later, reignites their feelings for one another. The Underground Railroad Barry Jenkins directs this limited series set in an alternate timeline of the 1800s, based on the Colston Whitehead novel of

the same name. Cora (Thuso Mbedu), an enslaved young Black woman in Georgia, attempts to escape and discovers an underground railway system that transports runaways to freedom. Her escape isn’t certain as she is pursued by slavecatchers attempting to recapture her. The Boys After the shocking conclusion of last season, Homelander and Vought hold more power than ever while Hughie (Jack Quaid), Butcher (Karl Urban), and the rest of the group are on the run. While still trying to expose Vought’s corrupt nature, a new sadistic superhero, Stormfront (Aya Cash), hits the scene and complicates their mission even further. Them Little Marvin created and executive produces this horror anthology series for Amazon Prime. The first season, dubbed Them: Covenant, takes place in 1953 and follows a Black family as they move to an all-white neighborhood in Los Angeles. Their new life seems ideal, until they start to notice not everything is as perfect as it seems.

Dickinson Hailee Steinfeld executive produces and stars in this historical comedy, depicting the comingof-age experience of 19th century poet Emily Dickinson. A period tale crafted with modern perspective, the series finds Dickinson in Amherst, Massachusetts, rebelling against her father, and the constraints imposed upon women in her time, while writing some of her iconic works. Mythic Quest Creators Rob McElhenney, Megan Ganz, and Charlie Day give an insight into the high stress world of video game design in this workplace comedy. The show follows Ian Grimm (Rob McElhenney) and his staff as they face the challenges of keeping their popular online game, Mythic Quest, on top. Unfortunately, their biggest challenge seems to be working well together.

The Mosquito Coast Justin Theroux stars as Allie Fox in this drama series based on the novel of the same name by his uncle, Paul Theroux. Fox is an inventor who lives off the grid with his wife and two children, taking odd jobs for income as his inventions don’t sell much. When the government finds them and starts tracking them down for their murky past, Fox and his family must flee to Mexico. Ted Lasso Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) is a successful coach of a collegiate American football team. When he is unexpectedly recruited as a coach for an English Premier League football team, he takes the job and moves to England despite not knowing anything about English football. He tries to connect with his new team using his folksy American charm and positivity, but the team immediately dislikes him.

The Late Late Show with James Corden Known for his iconic original segments, like ‘Carpool Karaoke’, James Corden hosts this late-night talk show. As opposed to the traditional American talk-show style of interviews, Corden uses the British style of having guests appear together for a group discussion. COVID-19 restrictions left Corden to host via Zoom from his garage, but now he’s back in the studio with his musical director Reggie Watts. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Comedian Stephen Colbert hosts this late-night talk show with a focus on discussing and satirizing current events and U.S. politics. The Daily Show with Trevor Noah South African comedian Trevor Noah executive produces, writes and hosts the third iteration of this iconic late-night series—the longest-running program on Comedy Central. The comedic news program sees Noah lampooning current events, both inside and outside of politics, from his unique perspective while engaging in interviews with an ever-growing roster of A-list celebrities and political figures. DISNEY+

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Taking place after the events of Avengers: Endgame, the governments of the world are poorly handling the return of half the population, leading to the rise of a radical group of super-soldier ter-

rorists called the Flag-Smashers. With Captain America gone, Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) need to team up and travel the world to stop them. WandaVision Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) live through classic sitcom tropes together in an idealized suburban home in the first Marvel TV series on Disney+. As they try to conceal their superpowers from nosy neighbors, the couple starts to suspect that things aren’t as perfect as they may seem. FREEFORM

Everything’s Gonna Be Okay Australian comedian Josh Thomas plays Nicholas, a 25-year-old who comes to Los Angeles to visit family, only to be left in charge of his two half-sisters, played by Kayla Kromer and Maeve Press, when his father suddenly passes away. Season 2 follows the family as they wait out the pandemic lockdown together.

FX

A Teacher Claire Wilson (Kate Mara), a young high school teacher in Texas, falls in love with Eric Walker (Nick Robinson), one of her students, in this FX miniseries. Created and directed by Hannah Fidell, this show explores a predatory relationship between a teacher and a student, as well as the consequences for both of them, and those around them. Breeders Martin Freeman and Daisy Haggard play Paul and Ally, two partners struggling with parenting their preteen children, in this comedy series created by Freeman, Chris Addison, and Simon Blackwell. Partially based on Freeman’s own experience as a parent, the series shows the trials and pains of parenting, rather than the easy and romanticized version social media may lead you to believe. Fargo Noah Hawley’s anthology series

returns with its fourth season, this time set in Kansas, Missouri in the 1950s. Cannon Limited, an African American crime syndicate led by Loy Cannon (Chris Rock), and the Sardinian Fadda Family, an Italian-American crime family led by Josto Fadda (Jason Schwartman), maintain a contentious relationship as both vie for control. Pose Winning Billy Porter his first Emmy, this series set in the late ’80s and early ’90s takes a look at New York’s underground ball culture in the African American and Latino communities. Season 3 finds Blanca (MJ Rodriguez) juggling motherhood, dating, and her new job as a nurse’s aide while the horrifying AIDS epidemic mercilessly rages throughout the LGBTQIA+ community. Snowfall Creators Eric Amadio, John Singleton, and Dave Andron take a look at 1980s Los Angeles during the start of the crack cocaine epidemic in this FX series. Damson Idris plays Franklin Saint, a drug dealer in his 20s trying to broker peace between two rival gangs while trying to keep his family safe. HBO

Lovecraft Country In the search for his missing father, Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) travels through 1950s Jim Crow America with his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett) in this horror drama series written and directed by Misha Green. The search becomes more complicated as they arrive in Devon County, Massa-

chusetts where they uncover dark occult secrets plaguing the town. The Undoing Director Susanne Bier puts a modern twist on a classic “whodunnit” tale in this HBO original miniseries. The Flight Attendant Kaley Cuoco executive produces and stars in this HBO Max series based on the 2018 novel of the same name by Chris Bohjalian.
