Barrie Trojan’s Heading to Olympic Trials

Barrie Trojan Swim Club (BTSC) has had a successful year so far. This year being the year for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, swimmers get very excited and train hard to see if they can make the Canadian Team and represent their country. This year, BTSC currently has 3 swimmers qualified; Erika Thomas (age 15 Female) qualified in 200 Butterfly, Abby Howell (age 18 Female) qualified in 200 Breaststroke, and Ella Rennie (age 18 Female) qualified in 400 IM. The 3 Trojan Swimmers will compete at the 2020 Swimming Canada Trials, presented by Bell at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre from March 30 - April 5th, 2020. During this event, members will be named to the Canadian Olympic Team to represent the country for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics being held in Japan.
BTSC has had a very successful season so far, with swimmers 13 + under ranking fastest in Canada for their age group. These swimmers competed at the 2020 Swim Ontario Winter Festival Championship at the Windsor Aquatic Training Centre Feb. 22-23, 2020. Laila Oravsky, took home two golds for breaststroke (100m and 200m). In both the events she broke her own club record and took 2nd fastest time in Canada for 11-12 year old girls of 2:42.67.
High Points winner for the team was Julia Denes, taking home two medals, Silver for 100 Br (5th fastest in Canada) and Bronze for 100 Fl, as well as finishing top 10 for 6 other events). Her 100 Fly broke her own club record (old: 1:09.43 04/26/2019) with a new time of 1:08.25 and ranked her 3rd fastest in Canada for 12 year old Females.
Emma-Lee Jacques (13F) took home two medals; Gold for 800 Fr and Bronze for her 200 Fr. Her 800 Fr ranked her 11th fastest 13 year old Female in Canada.
Keaton Trichilo’s 100 Fr took home silver for the 13 year old boys, ranking him 9th Fastest in Canada for 13 year old boys. BTSC has programs for all ages and abilities.
