Notes from the Artistic Director Coming off the Sochi Olympics, our eyes are opened to a bigger, wider world wherein there lies immense richness in cultures, struggles for life and liberty, and joy in the artistic elements. Tonight, Olympia Youth Chorus brings to life a few samples of the vast wealth of cultural music offered in this big, wide world. It is easy to be complacent, to relax in the knowledge that we live in a wonderful country, full of opportunity. But, for our children to experience the music of people, outside of themselves, is wealth unto itself. We have spent many hours refining the languages, the rhythms, the movement, and the expressions of love and joy found in this music. OYC is also proud to welcome an Olympia icon, Samba Olywa to the stage. This powerful dance and percussion ensemble is the perfect addition to our World Tour 2014! We invite you to listen, smile, move, and clap as the combined choirs of the Olympia Youth Chorus and Samba Olywa take the stage! Thank you for joining all of us this evening. We appreciate your support! Cynthia Dinsmore, Artistic Director, Olympia Youth Chorus
Mission Statement The Olympia Youth Chorus was founded in 1995 to offer a program of vocal music education to young singers in South Puget Sound, Washington, by nurturing the appreciation of choral arts and the shared experience of creating fine choral music with children of all backgrounds.
