Tumbes Mangroves National Sanctuary
We will begin our route in the Zarumilla zone, on the border with Ecuador. There we will visit the majestic Sanctuary of the Tumbes Mangroves, a protected area which is home to specimens of more than 20 meters in height. During the route we will utilize rowboats or kayaks belonging to the villagers. In this community we will find four species of mangroves: the red mangrove, the saltwater mangrove, the white mangrove and the button mangrove, as well as some 40 other botanical varieties. These mangroves are the proper habitat for an ample range of species. We can also find different species of snail, crustaceans, mollusks and fish, many of them with commercial importance. We will also find a great variety of endangered birds and mammals, such as the raccoon or mangrove bear, northeastern otter, amphibians and reptiles. We will end the tour in Puerto Pizarro, visiting the crocodile breeding zoo and Isla de Los Pรกjaros (Bird Island).

Puerto Pizarro Mangroves
We will travel to picturesque Puerto Pizarro, a few kilometers from the city of Tumbes, to begin an excursion among younger mangroves visiting attractions such as the Crocodile Breeding Zoo which currently houses close to 300 animals, where you can also learn about their complete life cycle, and Isla de los Pรกjaros (Bird Island), an enchanting tour point where we can find frigate birds, herons, ibis and other species proper to the mangrove ecosystem. Adventure in Máncora
Only 30 minutes from the Royal Decameron Punta Sal is Máncora, a paradise of contrasts for enjoying inhospitable landscapes. The Canopy of the Eco-Fundo Adventure “La Caprichosa”, offers 4 flights for a total of 1600 meters of routes, reaching heights of 120 meters. They will test physical resistance and concentration in an arena with three levels of difficulty and a zone of cables with a set of towers and different height challenges. Deep-Sea Fishing
Peru’s northern coast is an exceptional zone for deep-sea fishing; along these coasts was captured the world record for fishing, a black Marlin weighing in at 1560 pounds. Here is where the cold Humboldt marine current and the warm El Niño current converge. This produces conditions unique in the world, which is why Punta Sal and its adjacent zones are a fishing lover’s dream come true in an excursion which will take them in search of impressive marine species such as the striped Marlin, the black Marlin, the yellow-finned tuna, the wahoo and dorado. Coastal Trip
Only 25 kilometers south of Punta Sal, Los Órganos is a tempting alternative for those who seek greater tranquility beside a town that offers everything. Due to the warm equatorial marine current, also known as El Niño, the predominating average temperature in this tropical sea eco region is around de 24 °C, along the regions of Tumbes and north of the Piura. Our boats will take you sailing from Los Órganos to Cabo Blanco on an excursion where it’s possible to sight the impressive marine fauna of Piura. Seals, groups of bottle-nosed dolphins, dozens of common dolphins, marine turtles and colorful blue-footed boobies may be part of this wonderful adventure. What you see will depend on nature. We will also go fishing with line and bait and go to the best “bajas” (fishing spots) of the zone and use the day’s fresh-caught bait. With this fishing technique one can capture coches, monkfish, viejas, devilfish, among others. The activity is tenable depending on the weather, respecting the minimum sizes for catches. Later we will stop in a protected bay where you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the sea. It’s a memorable experience which you’ll enjoy to the utmost any time of the year. Whale watching (in season)
During the months of August, September and October we’ll take you to see the enormous humpback whales. These colossi reach Peru’s northern coasts from Antarctic waters to reproduce and raise their whale calves. During the whale watch tour you may see these magnificent cetaceans making spectacular leaps, swimming and diving in groups or watching their young play their first games under the watchful eye of their mothers. This marine excursion will take us sailing from Los Órganos to Cabo Blanco in a wide run with an 85% success rate in sighting the whales. The visitors may contribute to the scientific research by taking precise photographs of the ventral side of the tail to identify the individual whales sighted. You can also observe other associated species navigating in the zone where the cold Humboldt and the warm equatorial ecosystems converge. Surfing
Nearly 3,000 kilometers of coastline along the Pacific Ocean are ideal for the consistent, perfect waves of the Peruvian coast. Peru’s extensive coast is characterized by its irregular topography full of bays, sandy beaches, peninsulas, cliffs and rocky places. The waves break day and night without ceasing. In Peru, surfing is a very popular sport thanks to its good waves along the entire national coastline. Among the best scenarios, the seaside resort of Los Órganos stands out offering excellent spots to practice surfing, known locally as "Casablanca", "El Codito" or "Organitos,” with the wave named "Órganos" or "La Vuelta", one of the best of northern Peru. Hemingway Route (overland)
We will begin our excursion at the El Ñuro Dock, where we will enjoy an interesting activity with the arrival of the fishing boats that bring in the produce of the sea and the commercial interchange of the fishermen; here we will also observe the turtles while they feed. Continuing along the route, we will stop for a rest at a lovely cave naturally sculptured out of the rock from which we will have an amazing view of the Pacific. Finalizing the tour, we will get acquainted with the spectacular landscapes offered by the zone of Cabo Blanco, along with the stories about the capture of the enormous Marlin, which attracted the special attention of the celebrated American author, Ernest Hemingway, winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1953 for the novel The Old Man and the Sea. At Cabo Blanco we find a fascinating photographic archive conserved by the man who was Hemingway’s bartender. Swimming With Sea Turtles
The El Ñuro sector is home to an important population of Green Sea Turtles which inhabit this zone, optimal for their feeding and rest as part of their life cycle. These large sea turtles are distributed over tropical waters around the world and are excellent regulators of the ecosystem, making this a privileged zone for having examples of this species in northern Peruvian waters. During this activity, you’ll be able to observe their behavior and have direct contact with these animals while enjoying a pleasant swim in the ocean; you’ll also be able to see other associated species like birds and fish. Besides reveling in a delightful experience with nature, this tour offers us the chance to raise our awareness of the importance of protecting and conserving the sea turtles and their habitat. Bubble Maker (Children)
This is the best way to introduce children to the fascinating world of diving. The experience is designed for children 8 years of age and up. They learn and have fun under the supervision of a PADI instructor in a swimming pool. The children learn how to breathe under water, the basic principles of diving and how to use the necessary equipment. MINIMUM 2 persons DURATION The course usually lasts an average of 2 hours. REQUIREMENTS Be at least 8 years old and a maximum of 12. This is your first step to follow in discovering the wonderful underwater world. It’s a diving experience but not a PADI course. The dives for certified divers vary depending on the ocean conditions and the level of certification. Boat Tour (Cancas-Punta Sal)
Beautiful excursion to enjoy the landscape of our Peruvian sea. On board the yacht FantasĂa we begin the tour of the Coast until we reach the Punta Sal resort. On the route we will sight a large variety of birds such as frigates and pelicans, and if nature permits, we’ll also be able to observe close up great specimens of sea lions. Likewise, we can enjoy a delicious swim in the ocean. We continue our tour passing opposite the town of Cancas, traditional for its fishing activity, to return to our point of departure. Bus Parrandero (The Party Bus)
Enjoy a colorful and animated excursion along the Northern Resorts aboard an entertaining party bus. We depart from Punta Sal towards Máncora, known for its lively nightlife and ample variety of bars and typical restaurants, with a great ambience every day. From Máncora, we head North toward the town of Zorritos, which has a grand boardwalk and lively sites at seaside.
