Joomi Lim is a jewellery brand based in New York in the heart of the “Fashion Disctirict”. The brand wants to keep its Made in America roots and all the jewels are made in New York and partly in the studio. I was lucky to join their team as a designer for six months. During this period, I was given a lot of freedom to develop a wide range of jewels. I was part of each step of the process, from the first sketch to the launch of the product. My role included a lot of tasks that led me to discover various aspects of the designer’s profession.
Research sketches / My Little Twin Stars x Joomi Lim
Sketching was the first key step in order to design a new range of jewels, but it was necessary to quickly move forward to the 3D modelling. During my internship at Joomi Lim, we purchased a 3D printer working with resin and therefore giving a very good print quality. We were able to validate each piece prior to move them to production. After printing the jewels in a regular way, we were using a blue castable resin which allowed us to directly manufacture the molds and cast the brass jewels to our suppliers. After that, they are sent for cladding and polishing before being shipped back to us to add stones or pearls that ornament some pieces before putting them on sale.

22 APRIL 2016
For this workshop, we had four days in order to think about a coworking space that would be compatible with the new Grand Paris office in Saint Ouen. We had the will to create a friendly space that reminds the purpose and the DNA of the Grand Paris. In order to do that, we thought spontaneously about Subway map, wagons and control center. We decided through this project to reintroduce these elements inside the available space, by designing a modular system and architecture in order to create a standard of working inside each group. We also wanted to ease sharing moments, essential in the coworking world.
First rough research for the desk, the mezzanine and the floorplan
The desks fully closed are inspired by the wagon that you can easily line up down the mezzanine to empty the space if needed. They are made out of OSB wood so they are strong enough. It’s possible to open only one of the two panel of the desk depending on how many people will work on it. To hold and keep the moving part of the desk open, user will need to put the drawers out. The two middle round pieces are the lights that are include outlet for all the worker devices.
The mezzanine is fully thought in agreement with the desks and the complete room. You can line-up the five desks under the mezzanine and you have five computer on the top. Each computer is the “control center” of the different coworking teams that are working in the space. It’s as a nod to the control center of the subway systems around the world.
Example of how the mezzanine work
Top view of the room / Preview of the floorplan with the desks and stage
This render is showing how the floorplan is organised and how the desks can be moved in the space. Each one of them is modulable and finds its place depending on how many workers are there. It’s possible to put away the desks under the control centrel which is on the mezzanine in order to totally free the space. The floorplan also offers the possibility to put three desks in central position for
the
sessions.

Challenge took place in Paris with the goal to rethink a urban space in the heart of Montreuil, the “Croix de Chavaux”. It’s a keypoint of the city and also a main axis to join Paris and split the traffic between Upper and Lower Montreuil. A thorough analysis of the “Croix de
Chavaux”
neighbourhood
was necessary. We observed that there seemed to be two different atmospheres on each side of this crossroad. FORUM project brings a new solution to gather Lower and Upper Montreuil in a way to minimise this obvious breach, with the will to simplify the traffic which is currently complex and overwhelming. The goal is to make this passing way a friendly place of living in the heart of Montreuil.

We also designed a range of simple street furniture in order to better understand and reappropriate this new space. From the tourism office to the group furniture and the individual one, everyone can find its place in the Croix de Chavaux Forum. Urban furniture holds open volumes in order to allow the user to enjoy to the fullest the all area and its many famous graffiti.

Dodot claims to be the Korean IKEA. The keyword of the company is simplicity. Indeed, products are sold in kit and the customer has to assemble them on his own. I had the opportunity to draw and developp a chair in a total autonomy and during all the steps, from the sketch to the making of a scale 1:1 model. INTERSECTION project results from a research of an easy assembly of two pieces. Curves are also an important aspect of this project, in order to keep fluidity and a sense of movement.

OCTOBER 2015
During my stay in South Korea, we were asked to design a birdhouse. This project required a precise observation of the birds and their needs to properly apprehend their nesting. Two observations stood out : current birdhouses are not optimised for birds’ safety and are as humans think a house should be. MOINO
project
is
inspired
by
hourglass, kind of a time metaphore. Indeed, birds use birdhouses only during nesting before releasing the space that is then used by other birds. Hourglass also has the advantage of offering two dinstinctive spaces, perfect to create a living space on the one hand but also a space that can help them to build their nest and to feed themselves on the other hand.

understand deeply the complexity of calibers we find inside our precious timekeeper. CUORE project was born with the will to design a watch with an open heart in order to be able to enjoy the beauty of the ETA mecanism. The watch dial and the index are made of rose gold and the case is made of white gold. The inside of the dial is in white enamel surrounded by a thin rose gold piece.

MCQ1 project meets the standards established by Tag Heuer and pays homage to the motorsport world. The concept was to insert the key components
of
the
watchmaking
world in order to bring an innovative touch in the way of rethink an headphone. Many nods to the watchmaking world are present under the form of the earpiece that are reminiscent of the case and the lugs of a watch, but also with the piece allowing to change tracks that is an obvious reminder of the oscillating weight. We also find the “côtes de Genève” ornament on the internal pieces.
Sketch research
This headphone is really simple and easy to use. Every working system are on the earpiece. - If the user wants to turn up the volume, he just have to put forward the “oscillating system. And if he wants to turn down the wolume he just has to go backwards. - To change the track, everything is on the opposite earpiece. Users only have to double tap if he wants the next track or tap three times if he wants to play the previous song.

During my exchange program, I had the opportunity to enter the Korean fashion world. Fall-Winter 2016 collection is inspired by Art Deco and displays a pattern expressing the beauty of decadence, of chaotic spirit and the daydream. I had the opportunity to design the key pattern of this collection in close collaboration with the famous Korean designer Yang Heill, and therefore immerse in the fascinating Korean fashion industry.
