Watch for the emergence of Coral, Jewel Tones— especially Peacock—and reds and yellows! Black and white, and white and white – classic looks were abundant. Ease of Care: Performance fabrics, such as Sunbrella, Crypton, Alfresco, and Brisa were a big story. Many fabrics can be cleaned with bleach. Acrylic Furniture: From sofa legs to dining and side tables, the clear sparkle of acrylic was shown in every look from traditional to contemporary. Painted Finishes: Look for white, black, and bright colorful arms and legs on upholstered
furniture. Smaller Scale: Manufacturers are showing smaller scale furniture for smaller spaces such as condos and homes. Polished Brass: True! Not only brushed, or antique brass, but polished brass was found all over the showrooms. Silver metal looks were about equal with the gold metal pieces. Texture: Either visual or tactile, texture won out over pattern. Fur, faux or real, is making a statement. Fur for the bedroom or living room is out there in all colors from white to black. Look also for velvet’s beautiful feel, elegant style, and rich colors everywhere from the living room to the bedroom. Glass was a star performer, mirrored, clear, or frosted. Midcentury: Looks from the
50’s and 60’s were everywhere, from the good to the best price points with modern takes on Mad Men style. Traditional and ornate styles are falling by the wayside. Curves: Furniture styling is moving from all the straight lines of the past decade to embrace curves, seen in barrel chairs and loads of spool turning on chairs, beds, chests, and tables.
