Casual Living writer among journalists selected to judge Dream Room contest

China devalues currency amid economic concerns

Laurie Rudd will be among the competition's judges. Casual Living Staff Casual Living, February 24, 2015 RALEIGH, NC Laurie Rudd, freelance outdoor living writer for Casual Living and owner of Laurie Rudd Public Relations and Marketing, was recently selected by the Decorating Den franchise organization as a judge for its 2015 Dream Home competition. The contest, which is in its 31st year, is conducted online with judging in ten categories. The 2015 competition culminates with a presentation of awards on May 15, during Decorating Den’s annual conference. Judges for the competition were selected from journalists across the U.S. and Canada. For each of the voting categories, including kitchens and outdoor rooms, before and after photos are provided for projects by Decorating Den franchise owners. First, second and third place votes are entered online and then tabulated to determine category winners. From the ten first place category winners, a Decorator of the Year is selected. Cash prizes and prestigious Tiffany bowls are among the awards given to winners during their conference celebration. “I have had the pleasure of working on articles featuring designers and projects from within this organization and appreciated being asked to participate as a judge for their competition,” said Rudd. “Although my focus has been the outdoor segment representing and writing about casual products, retailers and designers, with the current blurring of lines between interior and exterior decor, many of the same design trends apply.” Between March 20 and April 11, the competition will include a round of judging that is open to the general public resulting in a People’s Choice award. “In 2014, this portion of the competition drew over 25,000 votes,” said Ross Feltz, Decorating Den, Easton, Md.
