THE HAGUE
Rhythm of the solids
The three walks : CITY AS A STRANGER CITY AS A HOME BUT CITY STILL AS UNKNOWN
OUTDOOR AS INDOOR
A city folded in layers; you discover each layer as you move forward. Further each layer is treated as a separate space, some spaces are large, some spaces and congested and claustrophobic. In the dictionary of spaces, some spaces act as a passing point, some as just a stopping point and some as the main square, some act like just an interaction space between the two.
Enclosed space, treated as a tunnel to cross one point to another.
Treated as hallway, passage to reach the main space.
SPACE AS A SILHOUETTE, SILHOUETTE AS A FORM
SILHOUETTING THE CITY A SOLID CITY
MAPPING - THE HAGUE
But what is beyond the SOLID city? What is The Hague? The Hague is movement, even when you are standing still, The hague has movement caused by the buildings connected to each other with no barrier, no breaks, no pauses,no stops. The Hague has rhythm, the rhythm of soilds. This conitnuous rhythm takes you to one space from another, from hidden lanes to the city center, from streets to park, from close to open. A play of the solids. This rhythm connects the two parallel worlds we see in The Hague.
