Expert Advice and Insight
our Light Studio is dedicated to lighting and daylighting design.
We provide fully integrated lighting design services, working hand-inhand with our electrical, mechanical, sustainability and building performance teams to craft the lighting for a wide range of environments and spaces.
We are more than just green... we love to design high-performance lighting, but an efficient space isn’t any good if no one wants to be there. A good design requires clear concepts, thorough documentation and solid execution, and we are just as committed to making spaces beautiful whilst being efficient.
We are forging new pathways towards combining the science and aesthetics of lighting and are constantly integrating emerging research into light & health, visual comfort and controls into our practice, all while employing leading-edge tools. If you are looking for an integrated team to provide you with great design and execution, contact us!
User Experience
user experience is what ensures long term success. Lighting plays a key role, helping to create an exciting environment from the outset and maintaining this excitement throughout its lifespan.
Engage
Communication and engaging the client and design team are key to capturing the philosophy of a project. Briefings, design sessions and workshops are vital in our early thinking.
We engage with the design team to discuss ideas and expectations, agreeing on the fundamentals to move forward.

Visualisation
Whether computer-generated or sketch, interpreting our designs onto paper allow us to truly communicate our ideas and design intent.
We believe even simple sketches can speak a thousand words when translating ideas to provide a clear direction of the lighting design.
Technical Design
our deep understanding of architecture, optics, the physics of light as well as building construction equips us to design solutions which balance visual comfort, energy efficiency, health and wellness, and beauty.
Whether the source is electric light or daylight, we understand the nuanced process of balancing and controlling illumination in the visual environment.
Focusing
A project will never reach its full potential without focusing. Careful coordination with the project team and client allows us to aim, focus and set the scene within each space to ensure every element is staged perfectly and assure the success of every project.

Design Services
Urban Realm (including interior & exterior architectural and feature)
Lighting for communities provides safety, security and wayfinding to users as they make their way through a space. designed well, spaces surrounding buildings, pathways, pedestrian areas, soft and hard landscaping, can both guide and reassure users, whilst contributing positively to the nighttime environment and economy, making the space a destination in itself.
Equally important is the design of interior spaces. When applied creatively it can transform a space, define a brand or idea, create a positive user experience and support the health and wellbeing of users.
Highway & Transportation
the priority of highway, infrastructure and transportation lighting is to ensure that all users are safe, can navigate effectively and prevent night-time accidents.
Every tunnel is, unique so in all our projects we work together with other tunnel systems such as bore, ventilation and emergency management systems to provide a complete and integrated solution right from the start.
Stations offer a unique opportunity to build a safe yet visually stunning solution for travellers, drivers and users of the platforms, stations and infrastructure. the result, an instantly recognisable transport hub that leaves users relaxed and ready for their journey.
Masterplanning
From the initial sketch through to planning approval, Introba provide integrated, effective lighting solutions to maximise the potential of a development. With in-depth knowledge and expertise in adoptable standards and requirements, we can support technical decisions and provide recommendations for lighting designs that will stand out and provide a safe and welcoming environment for future occupants. Early involvement will allow us to advise on the best solutions for the people that will ultimately live, work and play in your development.

Exterior Lighting
Sympathetic application of light for spaces and structures can enhance key architectural elements and bring them to life at night, creating a landmark and an identity for a community, place or time. Working in harmony with the natural environment, we build solutions to highlight the character and history of a place whilst maintaining the delicate balance needed for sensitive flora and fauna such as bats, deer, roman snails and watercourses.
Aviation, Ports & Border facilities
Airports, ports, depots, inspection facilities, and national and international freight terminals. All have specific needs and requirements for users and workers as well as the environment in which the facility is situated. Movement of people, vehicles, animals and equipment is the function of these zones, and each needs the care and consideration that an expert lighting designer can provide. We provide bespoke solutions to keep these facilities running efficiently and safely with the comfort of users holding great importance in the overall design.
Sports
From school football to televised stadia, skateparks to international competition, the right lighting can mean the difference between success and failure for athletes, sponsors and spectators. We are champions at the design of sports lighting solutions, using the right amount of light in the right place, without glare or inappropriate shadows and with due care for the local community and environment.

Assessment and Support Services
Planning Support including Design Codes and Design Access Statements
Starting off on a journey to develop can be daunting. With the reports, studies and consultations adding to the planning process, often lighting can be overlooked. We are here to help you get the best outcomes from your applications and to guide you through the steps to gaining planning permission.
Input in to LVIA and ES chapter reports
Key to planning approval, LVIA reports and ES chapters can provide recommendations for improvements or suitable mitigation for existing or proposed lighting installations to minimise any negative effects on the surrounding environment.
Obtrusive & Lighting Impact Assessments including Environmental Baseline Studies
Where there is light, there is a potential for poorly designed or installed units that risk affecting public health or causing a nuisance under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act. to make sure that we are meeting our obligations to people and planet, Introba can provide site based and desk top assessments such as lighting impact and baseline assessments to ILP PLG04, modelling, and obtrusive lighting assessments to ILP GN01.
Daylight Analysis and Design
A truly balanced daylighting scheme can provide a link between space and nature, enhancing the health and wellbeing of users and reducing energy and carbon consumption whilst maintaining effective lighting levels that the task requires without significant reliance on artificial lighting.
L IG ht Stud I o 10
Photometric, Performance and Condition Assessments
on site photometric measurements provide evidence of the true installed performance of a variety of lighting installations, both existing and new. typical scenarios that would benefit from on-site measurement include assessing existing installations or following road traffic accidents to check compliance against design standards and measuring new installations using t R28 point grids to determine true performance against the lighting design submitted.
Expert Advice and Technical Approval Outsourcing
With the engineering skills gap widening, finding specialists in light and lighting can be difficult for approving authorities. Introba provides professional services to end users, specifiers and adopters for tasks such as design, specification, site assessments, technical approval, inspections to lighten the technical burden.
BCR and Business Case Support
Beyond the intricacies of design, the first hurdle is often gaining support and funding for a project. A robust and considered Benefit/Cost Ratio assessment or business case is often the tipping point at which a project goes from dream to reality so it pays to make sure that the project has the best chance of success.
