Since childhood, I have always found it easier to express my feelings and thoughts through the performing arts, in which for me, the person’s image is the blank canvas on which a story is told. I found then the need to learn how to use fashion to express my ideas with greater detail and scope; as well as to express the concerns of other people who feel and think the same way I do.

In an era in which we find ourselves more and more observed and our lives are subjected to the judgment of the masses, “Nonexistenteyes” is presented as an experimental collection of 8 outfits which try to convey the experience of the growing social phobia to the public. Through the use of elements such as deconstruction of the suit, tight-fitting siloutte, contrast of fabrics, and psychology of color, this collection tries to generate empathy about the difficulties that these people live in their daily lives.

This palette reflects the contrast between crisis and calm situations: tan tones and green transmit serenity, confidence, and relief that loneliness produces, while the rest of the colors express the anguish and insecurity of this phobia.

[12]

The fabrics chosen are a mix of different shades of linen (normally associated with summer because of its freshness) and thicker fabrics, to generate contrast. In addition, each fabric is associated with a certain feeling: Linen: lightness, calmness. Twill: represents the skin, on which the eyes are embroidered, as a symbol of the feeling of being continually judged. Knitted wool: moments of isolation that produce comfort. Synthetic leather: stiffness, tension, anxiety. Organdy: transparency representing vulnerability when exposed to social situations.

Just as by combining different elements we can generate a harmonic composition in music, music unites all human beings regardless of their origin, ethnicity, age, or gender. That is why Synesthesia aims to be a visual representation of this idea, combining and contrasting different colors, shapes, and textures; just as music is formed by numerous elements that produce stimuli in our brain.

Rural apology With the arrival of the pandemic and domestic isolation, the new generations felt overwhelmed, leading them to a search for an escape from reality. And what could be further away from the hectic urban and modern life than rural life and nature? A new aesthetic emerged that romanticized the country life of the past centuries, not only in terms of clothing but also in terms of lifestyle. The popularity of this increased due to the positive effects that could help improve the environmental problems we are currently going through. Making our clothes, growing our food, and in short, living a slower, more appreciative, and sustainable life makes this aesthetic a cultural movement that has turned the lives of millions of young people upside down.
