MESSAGE FROM BCEA CHAIR
CHRIS BRAMS
Welcome to 2022!
Just when we thought 2020 was tough, nobody could have prepared us for what last year had to offer. From a record-breaking forest fire season to devastating floods, continued raw material shortages and supply chain issues – sprinkle in a variant or two – we were all in some way challenged more than ever before.
But we endured.
In speaking with many of our members after the holiday break, the overwhelming consensus was that it feels a little bit like Groundhog Day. I certainly can’t disagree – there’s something about wearing a collared shirt, tie, and shorts that is so 2020.
This year does promise to be a busy year. In 2021, building permits issued in B.C. increased by over seven per cent, with the largest growth being in the residential and industrial sectors.
Our volunteer-based committees are hard at work as well, planning many fun and educational events. We are excited to host some of these in person as regulations allow.
Finally, a big thank you to Barbette, Justeen, and our Board of Directors for their continued hard work, and to all of you for your valuable contributions into our industry.
I look forward to seeing you all soon! n
