North Star Air is mining with you

norTh sTar aIr Is mInInGwITh you! Air transportation is our business

“Moving passengers, cargo and fuel is our business,” says President and COO Jeff Stout. “We’re proud of our on-time delivery performance and flexibility to remote destinations and the types of cargo we can accommodate. We’re really into finding solutions for our customers.”

And those customers are you! Let’s face it, Manitoba has great geological potential, with a diversified mineral industry from which the entire province profits. Manitoba covers 649,950 square kilometres (250,900 square miles) with a widely varied landscape, from Arctic tundra to dense boreal forest, from lakes to prairie farmland. North Star Air and its team of over 260 staff members are the professionals when it comes to moving freight and passengers to the remote areas you need to be at. Take a moment to learn more about our fleet and services. The flagship of North Star Air’s fleet, the Basler BT-67 is based on the rugged and simple design of the Douglas DC-3. Every Basler is delivered as a “zero-time” aircraft, meaning all new components, including the Pratt and Whitney PT-6 turbine engines, one of the widest-used and most reliable engines ever built. The DC-3’s build makes it the optimal freight aircraft for Canada’s North. Large front wheels allow it to operate on short gravel runways, and, as required, onto soft, unprepared or ice runways. Its simple design is what makes it resilient to the harsh climate of Canada’s North. The DC-3 can be positioned throughout Manitoba, Canada, and North America as required. With a fly range of 2,140 nautical miles, cargo capacity of up to 11,700 pounds (up to 6,800 litres bulk fuel capacity) and a large over-size door (85 by 62 inches), the DC-3 is ready to transport your freight to your destination.

The ATR-72 is recognized as the most cost-effective regional aircraft in the industry. North Star Air is the first airline to operate the new 500 series ATR-72 in Canada. The aircraft’s short, gravel field performance is unmatched in its category. Our ATR-72 aircraft are based in Thompson; however, the aircraft is available for charter throughout Canada and North America. This regional workhorse has a shorter fly range (1,000 nautical miles), transporting up to 18,000 pounds of cargo (up to 9,000 litres of bulk fuel) in 2,666 cubic feet. The ATR is also capable of landing

on ice strips. NSA also offers solutions for passenger and workforce transportation. Our fleet of Pilatus PC12 aircraft, with seating for up to nine passengers, is the ideal aircraft for day trips, meetings and small cargo moves. Our Dash-8 fleet, capable of accommodating up to 37 passengers, is a great choice for larger charter parties and workforce transportation into small and remote airports. As the choice of departure times, destinations, passengers, and cargo are all in the hands of the booking customer, you can expect to have a far more exclusive and personal experience. As you will have the entire aircraft at your disposal, we do our very best to reach above and beyond all specific needs and requirements for the charter.

In response to the spread of COVID-19 virus within Canada, North Star Air has undertaken a series of key actions to help protect the health and safety of our passengers, customers, employees, and communities and to ensure continuity of the essential services we provide on a daily basis into the North.
