MICOL SERGIO MAZZA GIULIANA GRAMIGNA

La lampada Micòl è stata progettata all'inizio degli anni settanta e riflette la ricerca allora in atto, verso forme pure e semplificate, che traessero la loro immagine da rigorosi rapporti geometrici e dall'impiego di materiali "classici", nei quali la finitura e la lavorazione avevano un ruolo determinante. Così la Micòl si esprime con la sovrapposizione di due forme primarie: una sfera di vetro soffiato opale bianco satinato che si appoggia su una lastra quadrata dalla finitura specchiante, il cui lato ha misura uguale al diametro della sfera. This lamp named Micòl was designed at the beginning of the '70s. It reflects the research, which was being carried out at that time, into pure and simplified shapes deriving their image from rigorous geometrical relations and from the use of "classical" materials, in which the finishing and the manufacturing played an essential role. Therefore, Micòl finds its expression in the overlapping of two primary shapes: a satin-finished white opal blown glass globe resting on a square sheet with a reflecting frame, the side of which measures as much as the globe diameter. Dal più semplice cono di luce in cristallo trasparente al più elaborato lampadario composto da sei elementi bianchi o colorati che creano forti contrasti tra di loro, in un sapiente gioco di contrappesi; è STILO, una collezione che comprende anche due versioni di lampade da terra. The STILO collection ranges from the simplest cone-shaped light diffuser in transparent crystal to the more elaborated chandelier made of six white or colored elements, which create sharp contrasts in a wise play of counterweights. This collection also includes two models of standard lamps. Being functional is the main feature of a lighting element. The MOTION series has been provided with the possibility of rotating the light beam by 360° in all directions, thus rendering this collection of modular elements extremely suitable for rooms where lighting has to guarantee functionality. By developing MOTION we have achieved our objective, since its functionality perfectly matches the lightness of the materials that have been used, and the catching design of the lighting elements. Nella collezione MOTION non si è voluto rinunciare alla maggiore efficienza della luce alogena evitando, con i nuovi spots GU10 a 220 volts l’utilizzo della bassissima tensione (12 volts). I vantaggi di tale soluzione sono principalmente: corrente a basso numero di amperes, quindi un minore stress dei componenti elettrici e ingombri più contenuti, venendo a mancare il trasformatore di corrente. The MOTION collection has chosen not to renounce the greater efficiency of halogen light, and the use of the new 220-volt GU10 spots has given the opportunity of avoiding the use of very low voltage (12 volts). The main advantage provided by this solution is low-amperage power supply and, consequently, lower voltage of the electrical components and smaller overall dimensions, since the current transformer is no longer necessary. In der Kollektion MOTION wollte man nicht auf die größere Effizienz des Halogenlichtes verzichten, wobei mit den neuen Spots GU10 mit 220 Volt der Einsatz der Niedrigspannung (12 Volt) vermieden wurde. Die Vorteile dieser Lösung sind vor allem die Folgenden: Strom von niedriger Amperezahl, daraus erfolgt eine geringere Beanspruchung der Elektronikteile und ein geringerer Platzbedarf, da kein Spannungstransformator mehr eingesetzt wird.

Un gioco sottile nel rapporto struttura e vetro diffusore, una tensione anche visiva in questo progetto innovativo che affronta l’antico dilemma della quadratura del cerchio, reso attuale con l’utilizzo di materiali opposti. La tensione anche fisica tra l’opaco e il trasparente è resa necessaria dalla funzionalità del meccanismo a saliscendi. A subtle game takes place between the structure and the diffusing glass. This creates an even visible tension in this innovative work which faces the everlasting dilemma of the squaring of the circle brought up-to-date by using opposite materials. The physical tension between mat and transparent elements is required by the up-anddown mechanism. Ein spielerisches Tändeln in der Beziehung zwischen der Struktur und dem Glasdiffusor, eine sichtbare Spannung in diesem innovativen Projekt, das die Herausforderung des antiken Dilemmas von der Quadratur des Kreises annimmt, in der aktuellen Form des Einsatzes von gegensätzlichen Materialien. Die gleichermaßen physische Spannung zwischen Opazität und Transparenz wird durch die Funktionalität des Schiebemechanismus notwendig.

Contemporaneamente, il diverso orientamento nello spazio dà all'oggetto forme e geometrie sempre nuove che, esaltate dalla compenetrazione di due forme perfette come il quadrato e il cerchio, danno un alto valore estetico. The possibility of placing the lighting source in different positions, so as to obtain either direct or indirect luminous beams, is the most functional feature a lamp can o f f e r. Simultaneously, the various orientations in space provide the lighting object with always new shapes and geometries, which are exalted by the interpenetration of two perfect shapes, namely the square and the circle, and gives them a highly aesthetic value. Der Leuchtkörper in dynamischem Einsatz ist ein Tendenzobjekt. Die Möglichkeit, die Lichtquelle in verschiedene Positionen auszurichten, wodurch ein direkter oder indirekter Lichtstrahl erreicht wird, bedeutet das Höchstmaß an Funktionalität, das eine Lampe bieten kann. Gleichzeitig verleiht die unterschiedliche Ausrichtung im Raum dem Objekt immer neue Formen und Geometrien, die vom gegenseitigen SichDurchdringen zweier perfekter Formen (Quadrat und Kreis) hervorgehoben werden und einen hohen ästhetischen Wert ausdrücken.

Dare funzionalità all'oggetto lampada quando non è accesa come quando diffonde la luce è stato lo stimolo più forte di questo progetto. Il gioco di vedersi riflessi nello specchio o illuminati dallo specchio stesso è intrigante, quanto l'idea di poter guardare da punti di vista differenti, come se in un particolare angolo della propria abitazione ci fosse la possibilità di osservarsi da fuori e da dentro. The strongest impulse to this project was conveyed by the desire to guarantee functionality to the objectlamp both when it is switched off and when it diffuses light. Playing at watching oneself either reflected in the mirror, or lit up by the mirror itself proves to be as intriguing as the idea of being able to look at something from different points of view, as if in a specific point of one's own house there were the opportunity of observing oneself both from the outside and from the inside. Der größte Ansporn dieses Projektes war es, dem Objekt Lampe eine eigene Funktionalität zu geben, gleichgültig ob sie ausgeschaltet ist oder Licht ausstrahlt. Das Spiel, sich im Spiegel zu sehen, oder vom Spiegel selbst angestrahlt zu werden, ist ebenso bestechend, wie die Idee, von verschiedenen Blickpunkten aus zu beobachten: als ob es an einer bestimmten Stelle des Zuhauses die Möglichkeit gäbe, sich gleichzeitig von drinnen und von draußen zu beobachten.
