Nuvola is an indirect lighting system for urban areas which creates a uniform, glare-free illumination on the road. The system includes a reflector screen in polyester resin reinforced with fiberglass and a Lingotto floodlight.

Banners are fixed to a supporting bar with a special hem and held taut by a stiffening rib sown into the actual hem. This installation ensures that the fluttering movements do not cause unsightly wavering in the fabric.

The asymmetrical optic (A) emits its greatest intensity of light at 45°. Limiting direct glare, it enables large spaces to be illuminated without producing stray light. It is suitable for lighting urban areas.
The flood optic (F) provides a broad, uniform light which is particularly suitable for illuminating public areas, facades and large spaces.

The medium optic (M) provides a uniform flow of light, at the same time controlling glare. It is suitable for lighting up large spaces, fronts of buildings and outside areas.
The spot optic (S) is used to highlight architectural details. Concentrating the light flow of the lamp and avoiding the dispersal of light into the environment, it minimizes glare and light pollution.

Lingotto design: Renzo Piano
The Lingotto optical compartment is made of die-cast aluminum. The doorframe enclosing the tempered glass lens is also made of die-cast aluminum and has a silicon gasket to seal the fixture from dust and water.
For fixtures with M.H. lamps, the ballast is enclosed in an aluminum box which is connected to the optical assembly with an armoured cable.
Here, the Lingotto is shown with open door frame for maintenance.
The hinge component enables the chassis to rotate vertically (180°) and horizontally (360°) on various supports.

The Lingotto fixture is composed of: a die-cast aluminum housing, a reflector of 99.85% super-pure aluminum, and a tempered glass lens with silicon gasket, held in place by the die-cast door assembly. All hardware is made of stainless steel for superior corrosion resistance. Four different optics are available to suit most lighting needs. The components needed for the M.H. fixtures are contained in a special aluminum ballast box. The optical assembly is connected to the ballast box by a hinge assembly enabling the chassis to rotate 180° vertically. The fixture is standard with a grey painted finish and a yellow hinge assembly. The technical characteristics of the fixture comply with EN60598-1 standard. This fixture is rated IP55. UL Listed “Suitable for wet location”
Light pollution The Lingotto asymmetrical optic (A), medium optic (M), spot optic (S) are ideal to light large urban areas without producing stray light while it emits with great intensity. Therefore, it enables designers to control light pollution and spills and limit direct glare.

Platea design: Mario Cucinella
The Platea floodlight was created to meet the demand for improved functional and decorative lighting in urban spaces. Fixtures are available with different reflector configurations: asymmetric, flood, spot, super spot, longitudinal linear and roadway. These fixtures are made of die-cast aluminum with stainless steel hardware. A hinged front with a tempered glass lens and silicon gasket allows for easy access to the optical compartment for servicing the lamp. The technical characteristics comply with EN60598-1 standard. All fixtures have an IP66 rating which protects the fixtures from intrusion of dust and moisture from even high-pressure water jets. UL Listed “Suitable for wet location”
Light pollution Platea superspot optical systems provide designers with new tools for controlling light pollution and spill. Beam concentration enables the highlighting of details and architectural features while minimizing the uncontrolled dispersal of light into the environment. The addition of concentric baffles will further reduce spill and glare.

Platea is manufactured to a class II standard of insulation. This ensures greater safety as it prevents even accidental contact between the live parts and the body of the unit. Installation and maintenance costs are reduced since there is no need to ground the unit.

The Platea is especially suited for mounting on walls of buildings. The various lighting distributions work equally well for either up lighting or lighting walkways.
When mounted and aimed down at 0°, the Platea is a full cut-off luminaire. See below for various distribution patterns.

Flood Optic (F) – The best use of the flood optic is as external lighting of large spaces.
Asymmetric Optics (A) – The asymmetric optical system has the greatest intensity at 45°. It projects the light forward without need for up tilt of the fixture. Glare and light pollution are therefore greatly reduced. This also reduces the amount of light on the mount wall, thereby reducing the resulting effect of the reflected light.

MiniWoody and Woody floodlight components are made of die-cast aluminum and supplied with a 99.85% super-pure aluminum reflectors. The optical assembly is closed at the front with a die-cast ring with tempered safety glass lens and silicon gasket to ensure a dust and weather-tight seal. The fixtures are equipped with a locking device to allow adjustment in both the vertical and horizontal axis. This adjustment can be locked in place. Two optical systems are available: spot and flood. The low voltage fixtures are supplied with an integral transformer, available in 120V or 277V. All hardware is stainless steel for superior corrosion resistance. The technical characteristics of fixtures comply with to EN60598-1 standard. This fixture is rated IP66. UL Listed “Suitable for wet location”

This type of beam enables details and small features to be illuminated.

Floodlights are made of die-cast aluminum and supplied with a 99.85% superpure aluminum reflector. The box is made of extruded aluminum with cast aluminum plugs. The compartment is closed at the front by a die-cast ring with a protective glass cover and silicone gasket to ensure a dust and watertight seal. The fixtures have joints for horizontal and vertical adjustment with the possibility of locking the position. There are two different kinds of optic: flood and spot.
This serie is supplied with integral electronic ballast of 120V and 277V. Screws and bolts are made of stainless steel. The technical characteristics of the fixture comply with EN 60598-1 standard. This fixture is rated IP66. UL Listed “Suitable for wet location”
The pole mounting, with the single or twin floodlight, and the wall mount solutions highlight the system’s versatility and its modern and functional design features.

The concentric ring louver offers 45° shielding while the visor completely cutoff direct glare. MaxiWoody is a projector for external use designed for quartz or ceramic discharge metal halide lamps from 70 to 400W. The reflector is 99.98% superpure aluminum, anodized and polished. The optical assembly is equipped with closing glass and sealing gasket at the front, guaranteeing water tightness. Special apertures on the frame allow rainwater to run off. The projector offers seven different types of luminous distribution (superspot, spot, medium, flood, longitudinal linear, elliptical and road). The fixture is equipped with a double cord grip for through wiring. MaxiWoody can be adjusted on the vertical axis using graduated bracket with a 10° increments precision. It is equipped with mechanical locking devices to guarantee the stability of the light beam after aiming. Horizontal adjustment is done by fixing a plate to a cement base.
In addition to ground installation, wall and pole mounting are also possible. The installation was designed to allow for an easy maintenance. Access to the optical assembly is simplified by the use of a decompression valve to eliminate the problem of lower internal pressure. All components are mounted on a single plate with captive screws, enabling rapid non-routine maintenance operations. The liquid acrylic paint on the frame gives maximum protection against outdoor conditions and UV rays. The technical characteristics comply with EN60598-1 standard. The fixture is rated IP67. FrameWoody enables projectors to be pointed towards horizontal surfaces, with the possibility to move the projectors on both the horizontal and vertical axes. The use of MaxiWoody fittings with the appropriate optics and accessories makes it possible to have diversified and accurate photometric distributions. The possibility of using simultaneously a range of optics and multiple light sources on one structure allows the lighting profesionnal to meet any challenge presented by the lighting project: from luminous distribution to chromatic yield, with mixing of various color temperatures. The FrameWoody system has various applications. It can be mounted on short poles to light up pedestrian areas and quiet roads, or on large poles to enhance elements of significant architectural impact such as avenues and squares. FrameWoody was designed to house a wide range of light sources combined with one another. One or several projectors can be oriented upward.

FrameWoody is a system of linear and square structures, which can also be combined together, designed to support the various MaxiWoody projectors for lighting horizontal outdoor surfaces. The structure has a frame in galvanized steel with a powder paint finish. The square frame uses projectors complete with bracket, while the linear one uses projectors without bracket. The frame is secured to the pole by means of a pole bracket and is angled at 15° with respect to the horizontal axis. It is supported at the top by two stainless steel rods which are secured to the pole by means of a pole bracket.
FrameWoody is specially designed for MaxiWoody (small and medium body) and offers various possibilities for maximum use of luminous distribution from the projectors, which are also designed to accommodate a high performance roads optic with a 150W metal halide lamp T6, RX7s. FrameWoody pendant design: Mario Cucinella
The suspended system is made up of linear and square frame, used to support multiple MaxiWoody projectors, to illuminate outdoor horizontal and vertical surfaces. Its structure is made of galvanized steel support treated with powder paint finish. The square shape uses the projectors complete with bracket, while the linear shape uses projectors with no bracket. The FrameWoody system is suspended with four stainless-steel cables – the diameter is 1/8” and the length is 13 ft. (adjustable). FrameWoody was specially designed to use

MaxiWoody fittings (small and medium-sized bodies). The system can be adjusted in order to fully exploit the luminous distributions made available by these projectors. Any of the MaxiWoody optics can be used to provide the optimum performance for any application. All internal accessories and light sources of the MaxiWoody projector can be used. The MultiWoody system was designed for the application of MaxiWoody as an instrument dedicated specifically to architecture. The grouping of projectors on a single pole makes it possible to highlight details while also lighting facades, with great versatility and operational precision. Ellipse is a surface mounted fixture for wall and ceiling applications. Fixtures are available in incandescent or compact fluorescent versions. The fixture is very efficient due to the special design of the glass lens. The high diffusing glass lens is mounted within a die cast aluminum frame that is attached to the injection molded polycarbonate housing. The use of polycarbonate ensures that the housing will not corrode. This new serie of bollards were designed with today’s environments in mind. The need for visual comfort and energy efficient lighting fixtures has never been greater. The fixtures need to please the eye and be available in a wide range of lighting sources. The design of iWAY is innovative as it is available in both square and round with an elegant base on the bottom. This is accomplished without diminishing the structural integrity of the fixture. The use of continuous internal tie rods transfer the moment to the top of the bollard rather than to the base as is common with many other designs. PENCIL offers a continuous band of soft illumination with a completely flush lens and internally sealed optical chamber. The absence of visible screws defines PENCIL’s essential linear and clean style.

The iWAY system was designed with an innovative patented optical chamber. This ensures excellent photometric distribution and very high visual comfort. This is a “Dark Sky” compliant bollard as there is virtually no upward component. The 360° distribution designed by J. M. Wilmotte can be internally shielded to create various light patterns. Luminaires with internal louver assemblies or frosted diffusers for fluorescent lamps are also available and will provide a Type 5 distribution. These provide softer illumination where the upward lighting component may be desirable.

PENCIL is available in either a round or rectangular cross section. The appearance is emphasized by the vertical cut of the diffusing screen. The use of internal louvers will diminish the upward component and increase visual comfort or concentrate the beam for a narrower distribution. The fixtures are available with 1 or 2 sided openings allowing for many different applications. The PENCIL is an evolution of existing optical systems already applied to many architectural outdoor lighting designs.
