Game challenge
Foreword Dear all members of Deloitte Vietnam, We are entering the last few days of May and preparing to close financial year 2022. At the same time, the society is recovering and step by step exiting from the challenging two-year due to COVID-19 pandemic – a challenging time that testify our endurance and significantly changed the way we live and work. Many organizations and corporations have applied new working policies to adapt with the pandemic situation, especially promoting flexible and innovating working trends to be ready for new working conditions, not just only focusing on how to overcome the challenge of the pandemic. In the 4.0 digitalization era, more than ever, we have more options to ensure work productivity and continue maintaining online interactions instead of face-to-fact interactions. With the responsibilities of a pioneer, not only in the field of expertise, Deloitte is considered the pioneer in applying hybrid working policies even before the pandemic broke out. We can confirm that our people are truly “safe, adaptive, capable” in dealing with Covid-19 in the last 2 years. Despite our careful preparations, each Deloitte member had their own memorable working experience in this crisis, one of the most challenging pandemics in the human history.
This Green Magazine volume - “Deloitte Experience”, will provide a recap of the two-year ups and downs, from the stories of working with partners and clients, working experience in different locations, to exceptional experience in adapting and consolidating a new working culture.
May is always a special month, and 2022 is an incredible milestone to mark the second year in our fourth decade of establishment in Vietnam. Deloitte people will certainly be equipped with enormous values and skills to light up a brighter future.
Let's welcome a decade of steady transformation together to continue our pioneering position and breakthrough in the new decade!
Best Regards, Pham Van Thinh Chief of Executive Officer

Reinventing employee experience in the new era of work HR & Learning team
A
lthough our world was already in the midst of shifting to adapt to the future of work, the pandemic brought a sudden change to the way we live and work. We found ourselves swiftly adopting new technologies, new way of working and modified workforce strategies. One might expect employee experience to have been placed center stage as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, but our research tells us that it had already been emerging as one of the top global human capital trends over the last few years. Building a positive employee experience through people-centred strategies and policies is the key to boosting organizational health and thereby performance. In the new era of work, as organizations evolve and transition to being more digital, they are compelled to change their work, workforce and workplace arrangements. Organizations will shift from traditional talent management to re-architecting work itself to maximize what humans can do and create a high-impact workforce. Flexi or remote working will be a way of life, although office spaces will not completely disappear. Workplaces will be designed to stimulate creativity, collaboration, wellbeing and high-performance.
12
Green Magazine vol.14
Flexi or remote working will be a way of life, although office spaces will not completely disappear. Workplaces will be designed to stimulate creativity, collaboration, wellbeing and high-performance. At Deloitte, we are leading the transformation of work in professional services, changing how work is done, where work is done and the composition of our workforce. Deloitte believes the future of work will be more productive and provide an enhanced experience for our people and our clients. We expect most of our workforce will follow a new way of working; being more flexible about where work is done at client sites, at Deloitte offices, or virtually. The Deloitte approach to new way of working puts trust in our people to manage the actual day-to-day balance of where work is done to ensure quality and meet the needs of our clients.
“New way of working” policy with flexible working arrangements like Flex Time, Flex Place, Flex Hours and Flex Break has come into practice. The new policy allows our people to have the power of choice with ways of working that emphasize flexibility and customization. This will bring new outcomes that create positive changes, from higher productivity to greater innovation. In person connections will still remain important and Deloitte is intentional about how we meet to accelerate personal growth, development, wellbeing, to build our culture and allow us to harness the power of collaboration.
13
Aside from a flexible working policy, Deloitte also continues to focus on other strategies to deliver a positive work experience for all of our employees. The ALL IN diversity and inclusion strategy, which went into practice in 2018, aims at providing everyone with equal opportunities to grow, develop and succeed in an environment where we hold each other accountable at all times. This reaffirms Deloitte Vietnam's effort and commitment to support the needs of our people and build a humane working environment for all.
Green Magazine vol.14
At Deloitte, we always put people at the heart of everything we do, and we are constantly thinking about our responsibility to improve the employee experience. Innovating and enhancing positive employee experiences is one of Deloitte's top priorities to maximize human potential, and create lasting value for our people, our business and our community.
Deloitte will continue to empower our people to make a positive impact on a sustainable basis. Together we will build a solid foundation with Deloitte people possessing Deloitte culture and values as the most valuable asset. This is a powerful launch pad for us to continue soaring for many more years and beyond.
Happy Deloitte Vietnam’s 31st anniversary!

My Deloitte Experiences Nguyen Hong Minh, Audit & Assurance
For each Deloitte member, I firmly believe that every person is full of pride, gratitude, and filled with positive energy when expressing their feelings about the experience of working at the firm. Ever since the first day of working under the same roof, we have gone from one excitement to another, only to describe it with these words "That's wonderful".
We still remember the first days, eyes wide opened. It was the culture of sharing, bonding, and love from Deloitte's people that brought us closer together. Indeed, during the journey, we have received support, help, and achieved our goals together owing to that. It is also the spirit of being not afraid of difficulties, steadfastly stepping forward that encourage each person to accumulate countless experiences and development.
15
Green Magazine vol.14
The solidarity in each Deloitte individual reminds me of these words:
I would like to send my sincerest thank the Executive Board, Team Leader, and my colleagues for creating such an amazing working place and for the opportunity to work and learn every day at Deloitte.
"No job is hard If one's will is enduring Even digging down the Mountain or filling up the Ocean is done by one's will" Thanks to the constant caring of the company, the determination in each Deloitte employee is deposited every day. For example, on the first day of the pandemic, the firm has introduced policies to support employees and their families when people were at risk of facing a new strain of the Coronavirus. This considerable encouragement acts as the vital vitamin to help us for become mentally stronger to prevent and overcome the unprecedented times, and quickly return to work.
On the occasion of celebrating Deloitte's 31st anniversary, I wish our beloved Deloitte all the best and more success along the way.

Flexibility in the workplace Hoang Anh Tu, Audit & Assurance
Green Magazine Vol. 12 was issued with the theme "future-ready" as a thankyou note for Deloitte's 30 years of establishment and development in the past as well as looking forward to a promising journey in the future. Meanwhile, Green Magazine Vol. 13 with the theme “The Deloitte Experience” will open the first chapter of that future by introducing the working experience in the new context at Deloitte, with a focus on flexible policies, typically the policy of "New way of working", allowing Deloitte employees to work anywhere.
"New way of working" or "new flexible working policy" is a growing trend in today's working environment, especially after the prolonged Covid-19 pandemic. Deloitte is proud to be one of the leading companies in the financial sector with new and flexible working policies to ensure the physical and mental health of employees.
17
Green Magazine vol.14
At one time, I was fortunate to have a conversation with a friend about my journey working for the company. His sharing of his working experience in the US has cleared all my doubts about adapting to the new working scenario at Deloitte, “There are things you can learn from working face-to-face with the clients, but there are also things you can learn from working online. It's all worth it, like two sides of the same coin." Besides, after the quarantine periods, I realized that in the process of working remotely, rules should be set up and followed, for example: when to start working, where to work and how to create boundaries between work and personal life, as well as fully prepare equipment for working remotely. Generally speaking, each of us is trying to change and adapt to life, especially when the COVID - 19 pandemic has left huge impacts on the well-being of ourselves and our families. At Deloitte, flexible working policies and the “We love & We care” support program has always accompanied the employees, helping us to adapt more quickly to the new era.
After all, working hard does not always ensure the achievement of our dreams. However, by overcoming challenges to achieve our goals, we have the right to be proud of ourselves to work towards bigger goals in the future.

The journey of an auditor's "well-being" experience Doan Dieu Huyen, Audit & Assurance
Deloitte's study of global human resource trends in 2020 shows that, "Wellbeing" is always on of the top trend for businesses. 80% of the nearly 9,000 managers participating in the survey said that this trend plays a huge role in their organization's success. According to the Cambridge dictionary definition, “Well-being” is a state of feeling healthy and happy. As a result, many Wellbeing-focused campaigns have been officially launched at Deloitte, with the aim of allowing employees to focus and experience "well-being" according to their individual wishes, thereby helping each individual relax and recharge in unique ways. Us, the auditors, the members of the Division 3’s family have also experienced "well-being" in a special way in each period of a financial year. It is a journey filled with memories, lessons, happiness and influential values. Like the division's lucky number 3, this journey is divided into 3 parts: Connection; Encouragement and Exploration.
19
Green Magazine vol.14
01 Connection
Before the busy season in 2022, we experienced the first trip with the team in the Division 3’s family. All the anxiety and fear before the busy season was extinguished thanks to the honest sharing and inspirational stories from the team leaders, department heads and especially "our chief" – Mr. Pham Tuan Linh. This important and valuable connection has helped us understand the auditor's work ethic and get ready for the upcoming peak season. A month later, our family was happy as we met our new interns. This has brought fresh energy to all family members before the busy season. At Deloitte, not only staffs but also interns are given great care from our colleagues.
02 Encouragement
Busy season came, everything was in a hurry and everyone was busy with work. However, in February 2022, the real turbulence began when one by one in our family got infected with Covid-19. Being F0 in the busy season is an unforgettable experience. The number of Covid-19 cases in Hanoi set a new record everyday. Our fear and anxiety kept multiplying. But thanks to the dedication and encouragement from my colleagues in the team as well as the thoughtful care from the Deloitte family, we overcame all worries and fear to successfully complete the assigned tasks. Encouragement and inspiration at the right time is always a miracle to help people overcome all obstacles and difficulties.
20
Green Magazine vol.14
03 Exploration
The busy season was over, it's when the members have more time and start making plans to develop themselves. Some groups gather to talk, others choose to go on trips together. During those trips, each member enjoys the fresh air, experiences the cuisine and culture of the land they set foot on. As for me, when watching the vast ocean and enjoying the cool sea breeze, all the residual stress of the busy season suddenly disappeared. All members of family still maintain the spirit of the Deloitte people and try to create values everywhere we set foot on. When traveling, if you come across bottles, plastic waste, etc. please take a few minutes to pick them up and put it in the trash. After this trip, each member discovered many values and felt healthy and happy from the inside.
Thus, our one-year journey of experiencing “Well-being” has temporarily ended. It is a parallel journey of both individually and collectively of Division 3’s family, with the hope that each member finds their own experience of "well-being", thereby supporting and spreading positive energy to the other members, and then to everyone around. We hope that in every moment, each Deloitte person finds and experiences their own “Wellbeing”, thereby spreading Deloitte's culture of Well-being to the community.

How does flexible working affect the auditors positively? Vu Thi Thu Huyen & Vu Thi Hong Van Audit & Assurance
Generation Z – the citizens of a new era are gradually making their mark in changing working style and culture in the office environment. In the past, “working hard” used to be the guideline that promotes the diligence of each individual who has contributed to the organization. Now, it is replaced by “working smart”. Indeed, instead of working hard but vaguely knowing the destination, finding out the strength and weaknesses of each individual, developing in the right track of each person to reach the same goal will improve the team's work productivity and create a comfortable environment for each person to focus on developing the things they love and are good at.
23
Green Magazine vol.14
Deloitte is creating such a working environment by offering many policies to assist audit warriors in having the most comfortable working spirit, thereby improving the quality and efficiency of work. One of the policies to be named is flexible working policy.
Flexible working hour changes the definition of "nine-to-five job" that people often refer to when talking about office workers. At Deloitte, employees only need to ensure to meet the required working time in a week, without having to be at the office at a fixed time. For many colleagues, they choose waking up early to work as they feel more productive and effective. For myself, as a “night owl”, I prefer the quiet of late night. There are days when I stay up until 2 – 3 AM due to my passion for work, and I feel very fortunate that I do not have to wake up at 6 AM and suffer the traffic jams to be at the office at exactly 8 AM. All thanks to Deloitte's flexible working hour policy.
Flexible working location is also one of the things that positively affects me, both in work and mental health. Flashing back to the outburst of pandemic in Hanoi, especially during the busy season, I thoroughly understood the importance of health. In order to effectively protect the health of employees, Deloitte has introduced a flexible working policy. We can work remotely, without going to the office, as long as the performance and quality of work are still guaranteed. For me, that policy not only helps me protect myself from getting the virus but also saves me quite an amount of money compared to when working in the office.
Each policy launched by Deloitte is based on the prospective of the employees, to make the working environment both professional and comfortable so that each Deloitte-er feels that the company is like a second home – warm and familiar.

Change
Nguyen Quynh Anh, Tax & Legal
If my relationship with Deloitte is compared to a journey, certainly it will be an emotional love journey.
It has been three years since I officially became a member of Deloitte. Thousands of events have happened throughout three years, and above all, the days “Deloitte and I” were forced to separate due to the citywide lockdown directive, making “us” appreciate our time together more than ever. We began to change and learn how to adapt during these difficult times.
Sometimes we change to keep some things unaltered. In order to be the same as always, we must constantly take care of this very instant. If we always love each other like the beginning, we will love each other forever.
We keep the balance by always moving. Situations have changed as the time goes by, and we change so that we can protect ourselves. We lose ourselves by remaining unchanged, rather than learning to adapt. Transformation is the way to protect ourselves. What does not change actually has experienced the most transformation. The train stops for us to walk.
25
Deloitte and I have moved through the long months of lockdown with meetings via Zoom, or meetings to discuss jobs on Teams. Surprisingly, we have mobilized together and adapted to the days of sitting at home but still able to handle a dozen jobs. It is also interesting to know that without meeting in person, we still feel so close to each other. Small gifts are always a little sweet spice to make the love deeper. Nothing better than the care from people we love. The days when i got Covid-19, Deloitte was still by my side with special prescriptions or SPO2 detector. Sometimes just a fruit package was more than enough to make me feel better. Maybe there was the catalyst that encouraged us even though we were far apart. Despite not being together everyday, we always sensed each other's presence. After all that we have been through, we always believe that in order to keep things the way they were, we must learn to adapt constantly.

From an architecture student to a member of Deloitte
Doan Quang Minh, Risk Advisory
To be honest, at the moment I still can’t believe my career journey and experiences in my recent years at Deloitte. I still remember how the dream of becoming an Architect was always motivated and flaming, how I hated the numbers and swore to never work in the field of Finance. However, "destiny" has come and led my life to a completely new chapter, so that today I am a member of one of the leading auditing and financial advisory companies in the world - Deloitte.
In a recent reunion with my high school friends, I found that each person has built their own career, have a direction of their own, one works as a doctor, one becomes an engineer, one works as a banker, one does business,... but the common point is that they are all quite surprised with my choice to "turn the corner" of my career. People also speculated that it must have been "great" for me working at Deloitte to change my mindset like that. But perhaps, "great" or not depends on each person's point of view.
27
Green Magazine vol.14
In the past 07 years, there have been times when I am frustrated by the pressure of work. There have also been times when I am determined to change the environment and nature of my work, in search of another opportunity to help refresh myself. But then, at that moment, Deloitte and my colleagues appeared again, reminding me of why I chose this path to start my career.
Fortunately, all of this is in my experience at Deloitte. I am a practical type, and I do not like to say long-term promises, but I hope that in the upcoming journey, every time i feel tired, discouraged, Deloitte and my beloved colleagues will still be there, so that I do not forget why I chose this career.
For me, the joy of work is to absorb new knowledge every day, face new challenges and meet new people in many different fields.
Thank you Deloitte and all of my colleagues at Risk Advisory.

Busy season of “give and take” Vu Ngoc Tung, Audit & Assurance
2022 is not the first busy season, nor the first COVID year, but an exceptionally busy season, in a special year. This busy season started off like any other, but in addition to the worries about work and the deadline of each auditor, we are now more concerned about COVID when the first unlucky cases of COVID began. The work is still there, but the difficulties are piled up because they are significantly affected when they cannot sit together at the office to perform tasks that require high teamwork such as auditing.
It was during the most difficult times that wonderful things appeared to help Deloitte members get through this busy season together. It turns out that remote working time does not create distance, but on the contrary, it makes sharing become a bridge for people to stick together. Isolation is no longer an obstacle when members can connect with each other regularly with the technology support at Deloitte.
29
Green Magazine vol.14
Since then, even at home, each individual does not feel like working alone when there is often interaction from colleagues. Words of encouragement are no longer obscured by geographical restrictions when everyone can still hear each other's voices through online meeting applications. At the same time, our health concerns are shared in a timely and effective way when we can easily register and receive quick support from the We Love, We Care program. Sometimes, I am really touched when I receive encouragements from friends and colleagues that I have not even had the opportunity to work with, or receive help from other team members even at midnight when having issues. All these things seem small and simple but help to spread love at the right time.
It's been a busy season to remember and it's truly extraordinary for each of us to be able to reach our goals on time. And in that extraordinary, there are simple things like giving and receiving but they are precious. This is the expression of the value of sharing - what makes up the beauty of the working environment at Deloitte Vietnam.

My Green journey Doan Hoang Thai, Risk Advisory
For the last 4 years under the Deloitte family roof, working with talented colleagues, receiving guidance from compassionate leadership, undergoing multiple difficult projects, I have the chance to improve greatly both my technical and communication skills.
My journey with Deloitte began in late August 2018 as a Senior Consultant at the Risk Advisory function after returning from working in the US for 2 years. By that time, I only got to know Deloitte as one of the Big4 best consulting firms with high professionalism, an ideal place for me to apply what I have learnt when studying abroad.
31
Green Magazine vol.14
At Deloitte, I also harvested some of best moments in life. I could never forget the time when colleagues from both Hanoi and overseas offices who were my companions through many projects attended my wedding. The presence of my friends and colleagues from Deloitte made the special occasion of my life to be even more special. I could also never forget the moment when I expressed my wish to take some time off Deloitte in order to pursuit my personal endeavor, Ms. Ngoc Tran has provided all the understanding and supports I needed. Only 8 months later, Ms. Tho Nguyen once again welcomed me back into the firm to continue my journey with Deloitte.
Now standing right before the next doorstep on this journey, I am thrilled more than ever for any upcoming challenges and developments that might come.
