Green Magazine United we lead Vol. 18 - May 2024

Foreword

Dear colleagues,

May is a remarkable month for us since it marked the milestone that Deloitte enter Vietnam market 33 years ago; and it's also the last month of the fiscal year. This precious moment allows us to look back at the journey of each member, each business unit, and the whole firm over the past 12 months. FY24 has seen a dramatic transformation of Deloitte, from a senior leadership position in Southeast Asia to the way we modernize our global storefront as announced by Deloitte Global CEO, all aligning to maintain a leading position in financial consulting and auditing globally, regionally, and locally.

The goal of “client-centric, people first” demands Deloitte members continue to carry the AS ONE spirit to unite, to affirm Deloitte's position in the eyes of clients, partners, and the community. That is the message of this Green Magazine edition called "United We Lead". When the strength of each and every individual is resonated, the collective energy exceeds to the maximum extent. I hope that with every story about the solidarity and collective strength of Deloitte people on the journey of serving our clients and creating meaningful values for the community, this Green Magazine will clearly demonstrate that spirit.

Also, Congratulations to Deloitte on stepping into 34th year of operation in Vietnam!

Warm regards,

C&M Self-leadership, leading the market

This issue of Green Magazine marks one of Deloitte's special transformational moments. In Vietnam, Deloitte officially achieved our 33-year milestone since its founding, building its position as the largest consulting and auditing firm in the market. A proud journey towards the 4th decade certainly awaits us with new expectations and successes. On that journey, we believe that our members will stand side by side to cope with many challenges ahead.

We are not an exception, together with Deloitte Southeast Asia and Deloitte global, we are all witnessing a new chapter of development. In March 2024, Deloitte global CEO Joe Ucuzoglu announced that we are modernizing our global storefront to make it easier to assemble the full breadth of our capabilities across our entire multidisciplinary organization as we serve clients. The core purpose of these changes is to bring together our skills and capabilities in a way that better aligns with how our clients are expecting uss to serve them. Our strategy remains on course and this storefront modernization will allow for greater collaboration and connectedness across our network. By modernizing and simplifying our storefront, we are leading the way for our profession, scaling up to allow for more integration across the firm, emphasizing what our capabilities are, and building our iconic Deloitte brand story around our SEA business, and how they bring value to our clients seamlessly.

Apart from Deloitte, many other businesses are also in the spiral of change. In this unstable situation when conflicts of interest or armed conflicts erupt in many parts of the world, businesses have to deal with many

pressures while improving service quality, increasing their financial strength, competing with domestic and foreign competitors, and complying with new laws and requirements of international practices. If we don't learn to adapt, we will be left behind. There is no other way, every business needs to update and apply new knowledge to maintain its position and expand its market share.

The historic milestone (13/5/1991 – 13/5/2024)

May is always a special month for Deloitte Vietnam. Since its establishment in 1991, Deloitte Vietnam has always been the pioneer of the independent audit industry, the right hand of the financial industry in establishing and building a strong and transparent financial system. Throughout its history, Deloitte Vietnam has witnessed changes in operations, market access, and service quality, thanks to which the name Deloitte is always considered a pioneer in the field and industry.

Deloitte Vietnam's green dot journey started from the period of “Mo Cua”, and was marked by the formation of VACO, the nation's first auditing firm. The independent audit industry in general, and Deloitte Vietnam in particular, have been a major support in promoting foreign investment, accompanying the stock market's development. With steady moves, Deloitte Vietnam has consistently demonstrated the competence, aspiration, and reputation of a professional service provider. Keeping the global spirit and succeeding in the essence of our 180-year-old legacy, Deloitte Vietnam has become an elite member of the world's strongest and most valuable commercial service brand name for 4 years consecutively.

06

Ever since our official ownership and management model restructuring in 2007, as well as becoming a part of Deloitte Southeast Asia, Deloitte Vietnam's position and status as a dynamic member have been increasingly affirmed, strongly contributing to Deloitte Global's development and securing the No. 1 position over the globe in terms of revenue, growth and workforce size.

Facing the inevitable transformation of Deloitte Vietnam, we share your concerns and questions about the upcoming journey. However, this change is a great opportunity for us to take advantage to maximize our potential and available strength. Not only does it create a clear change towards clients and the market, but this step is also a foundation to help members break through in their future

career paths. Improving our expertise, leveraging our work quality, reducing unnecessary tasks,... we are all have choices to increase our value and contribute to the overall success of Deloitte.

United We Lead. We believe that this message will help Deloitte Vietnam to affirm its already established brand value with clients and the community over the years. It is also marks an important turning point to each member of Deloitte to master their work, become their own leader, continue to maintain a pioneering position in the market in FY25, and proudly step in 34th year of operation in Vietnam.

HR When people thrive, business thrives

We are operating in a human-powered economy. Organizations are at a watershed moment, with many having transitioned from an industrial economy to a knowledge economy and now to an economy that is powered by the hearts, minds, and essential human traits of people—in short, our humanity.

Today, for many organizations, nothing is more important than its people, from workers and contractors to customers and community members. These human connections drive everything of value to an organization, including revenue, innovation and intellectual property, efficiency, brand relevance, productivity and adaptability. Yet organizations’ current efforts to prioritize these all-important connections are generally falling short—in part because many organizations are stuck in a legacy mindset that centers on extracting value from people rather than working with them to create a better future for organizations and individuals alike.

To truly lead in this new era, we must reorient our perspective around the concept of human sustainability – the measure of an organization's commitment to creating value for individuals as human beings. Focusing on human sustainability can help organizations create beneficial outcomes for people and for themselves.

As we chart our course forward, we must ask ourselves not only how much our people benefit our organization but, more importantly, how much our organization benefits our people. This shift in mindset requires a fundamental reimagining of the employer-employee relationship, where the focus extends beyond the transactional to the transformational.

Human sustainability is a long-term play: The strategies put in place today will help determine whether workers, organizations, and society endure and flourish both today and for future generations. It’s a path toward creating a better

08 Green Magazine vol.18

future for us all, underscoring the interconnection between everything we do and need as humans, including equity, trust, purpose, well-being, and belonging.

At Deloitte, we always put people at the heart of everything we do, and we are constantly thinking about our responsibility to improve the employee experience. Innovating and enhancing positive employee experiences is one of Deloitte's top priorities to maximize human potential, and create lasting value for our people, our business and our community.

Deloitte will continue empower our people to make a positive impact on a sustainable basis. Together we will build a solid foundation with Deloitte people possessing Deloitte culture and values as the most valuable asset. This is a powerful launch pad for us to continue soaring for many more years and beyond.

Title is also the slogan of Risk Advisory Townhall this year. The RA Townhall of 2024 was even more special as it was RA's last ever Townhall event. Despite this, each of us still captured every moment throughout the 3 days and 2 nights in the beautiful city of Ha Long.

The following day of the Townhall event was dedicated to RA's internal training. Members listened to their Partners, Directors and Managers share insights into the core functions of each division within RA. We were also updated on the latest developments and the direction of RA SEA as a whole, and RA Vietnam

we played our hearts out and strived for victory for the teams. Ultimately, the most important thing was that all the colleagues had unforgettable moments together.

The RA Townhall 2024 kicked off with an exciting teambuilding activity at Bai Chay Beach. While on regular days, colleagues are dressed professionally for partners and clients’ meetings, here, we shed our inhibitions and embraced the fun, regardless of the sand, dirt, or heat, as

specifically. Notably, Seniors and Associates had the chance to participate in a soft skill training course on Problem Solving led by Mrs. Ha Vu.

Thanks to her concise and easyto-understand delivery, as well as the real-life lessons she shared, we learned a great deal and gained valuable life lessons and experience to further develop ourselves.

In keeping with the spirit of learning and experiencing, the most special and anticipated part of any Townhall was the Gala Dinner. Unlike previous years, Townhall 2024 had no dress code, allowing everyone to unleash their inner star in their most dazzling attire. This year's Gala Dinner was even more

After the Townhall, each of us might have our own emotions or thoughts because it was the last Townhall of RA, also the last Townhall with the full participation of our colleagues who have joined together in many previous Townhalls. But overall, we always cherish the moments together and it will always be an unforgettable memory for each of us.

interesting with a flashmob dance performance by FSI, IA, and Cyber members; a rendition of "Let it Go" by an S&C member; and the hilarious skit "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?". Additionally, the organizers had prepared a special "Best Dress" award for ladies with the most stunning outfits and confident catwalks. This was a rare opportunity for RA's "budding

artists" to showcase their talents on stage and surprise everyone. The Gala Dinner finally reached its climax with the "Lucky Draw" prize, revealing the 6 luckiest attendees of the night.

The RA Townhall this year concluded with a memorable trip to Ha Long Bay. We had the opportunity to explore Thien Cung Cave and embark on a scenic cruise through the bay. These moments provided us with a much-needed respite from the hustle and bustle of work, allowing us to unwind and immerse ourselves in the breathtaking beauty of one of the world's seven natural wonders.

Let it go Green

Duong Kieu Khanh - RA

In the recent 2024 Risk Advisory Townhall, Sustainability & Climate Risk and Internal Audit teams have embarked on a creative endeavor with a profound message: advocating for environmental consciousness and sustainability through the arts. Amidst the backdrop of climate change and its looming threats, we utilized music and theater as powerful mediums to raise awareness and inspire action.

As the centerpiece of our endeavor, we meticulously crafted the gameshow "Who is the Sustainable Millionaire," a clever spin on the popular game "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire." Our adaptation went beyond mere entertainment, delving into critical sustainability topics such as greenwashing and corporate responsibility. Through clever plotlines and engaging scenarios, we not only entertained but also underscored the imperative of responsible business practices for sustainable development.

But the green wave didn't stop there. The song "Let It Go Green," a creative reimagining of the iconic tune from Frozen, has conveyed urgent messages about environmental degradation and pollution while championing sustainable solutions like renewable energy through a powerful chorus and witty lyrics. The song became a rallying cry for change, compelling us to invest in a greener future.

“Let

it go, let it go

For a future green and bright

Let it go, let it go

Let the change rage on

See me stand and hear me say Invest in green bonds

The coal always bothered me anyway”

12 Green Magazine vol.18

This activity exemplifies our unwavering commitment to driving positive change and nurturing a culture of environmental stewardship both within our organization and beyond. As we press forward on our sustainability journey, let us carry the spirit of "Let It Go Green" with us, empowering ourselves and others to become catalysts for positive environmental change, ensuring a brighter, greener future for generations to come.

Saigon – Hanoi and A Journey of SAP Implementation at Toyota Motors Vietnam (TMV)

Nguyen Ngoc Bao Tran - A&A

When Saigon entered the first summer days at the end of May 2023, I was assigned to participate in an SAP Implementation Project at Toyota Motors Vietnam (TMV). Accompanying me were two members from the Assurance HCM team, we had a flight to Hanoi to coordinate with the Assurance HN team to work at TMV. Due to the long-term nature of the accounting system implementation project, our whole team began a journey of more than 12 months in Hanoi to jointly support our client and other parties in this project. What followed were months when the project team consisting of more

than 40 people in Vietnam and other parties in Thailand worked together to overcome each stage of the project from DUR (taking customer requirements), UT (user test), to data migration phases. Here, our Deloitte members work with the responsibilities of consulting on accounting issues, as well as supporting TMV members through each stage of the project. Working at the one of the largest manufacturing companies from Japan in Vietnam, we were also able to learn and quickly adapt to the strict working rules of the Japanese here. There are days when the whole team must work overtime, but somewhere in

14 Green Magazine vol.18

this large office hall, there is always laughter and words of encouragement for everyone. In addition, from this project, I got to learn and practice more in the application of Vietnamese Accounting Standards and IFRS, improve data analysis skills, and directly participate in the process of building SAP system as well as test the system.

Interspersed with working days, our Deloitte team also has dinners and short getaway trips to enhance the bond between the Assurance HCM and Hanoi teams. We also got to explore the capital of Vietnam together. During New Year, we had a short trip to Sa Pa to conquer Mt. Fansipan, the roof of Indochina, and perhaps what is left behind in each of us are the most beautiful memories of this journey. We now have finally reached the last few months of the project, and soon everyone will see a new accounting system go-live at TMV. It is indeed the result of many efforts from many people working together through days and nights.

With Deloitte's working motto to "Make an impact that matters", I think participating in this project has given me the opportunity to make an impact in building the new SAP accounting system, which is to support our client, TMV, to achieve their project's goal. Seeing SAP going live successfully will probably be the greatest achievement for me and the whole team as it is evidence that our efforts have been recognized and that we finally made it. Even though this journey has many difficulties and challenges, I personally believe in the results the group will reap after this project. Therefore, it can be said that not only me but the whole team have worked together in this journey to create true values and impacts that matter.

People at the heart of sustainability

At Deloitte, we recognise that change starts from within. Deloitte’s WorldClimate initiative is our global strategy designed to drive responsible climate choices starting from within our organisation and extending beyond. April is Earth Month, a time to celebrate our planet and take action to protect it. With our "People at the heart of sustainability”, let’s take a look of some initiatives to take collective action together to drive positive change for our future.

Reduce waste in your daily life

Ask your family and friends to come along this journey through the 4 Rs – Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!

Refuse

Refuse single use plastic! Always say "No" if you do not require a plastic bag, cutlery, or straw.

Reduce

By #BringingYourOwn lunchbox, bags, or bottles, you immediately help in the overall reduction of single-use plastic.

Here are some ways for you to do your part:

Reuse

Reuse items in good condition where possible to reduce waste.

Recycle

Verify with your local recycling programme on the types of plastic they accept and wash, clean and dry plastic packaging (especially if it was used to store food) before putting it into the recycling bin.

Refillable water jugs and cups: Instead of offering single-use plastic water bottles at events and in meeting rooms, provide water jugs and cups that can be refilled instead. This reduces the amount of plastic bottles thrown away after every event or meeting.

Source for plastic-free corporate gifts: If you are sourcing for corporate gifts for clients, search for environmentally friendly gifts made of recycled materials, such as recycled paper pens or reusable water bottles.

Use reusable bags: Reusable bags are typically made from sustainable materials such as canvas, cotton, or recycled fabrics and are great alternatives to single-use plastic bags. Using these bags, especially when you do your groceries, can significantly reduce the consumption of single-use plastic bags in your daily life.

Choose plastic-free packaging: Look for products with minimal or no plastic packaging. For example, when doing your groceries, choose fruits and vegetables that are sold loose or wrapped in biodegradable materials instead of plastic packaging.

Declutter our cloud

Did you know that storing data in the cloud is not always as invisible as it seems? Large data centres housing our cloud storage use significant amounts of energy to operate. Deleting unnecessary files can reduce clutter in the cloud, which in turn lowers energy use, helping us contribute to a more sustainable workplace.

Reducing our cloud storage can help to:

Lower operating cost: Data centers use massive amounts of energy and water to keep servers cool and functioning properly. Every gigabyte of data we store contributes to this energy demand. By clearing out unused or outdated data, we lessen the overall workload on data centers, reducing energy and water consumption, and cutting operating costs in return.

Enable smarter resource allocation: Cloud storage space is not limitless. When we declutter our cloud, we free up data space which not only enhances efficiency, but also allows data centers to optimise their resources and potentially reduce their environmental footprint.

It is a good habit to regularly take a moment to declutter our cloud storage (i.e. OneDrive, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams and Deloitte Online Cloud (DOL)). By making this small change, we can collectively contribute to a more sustainable planet!

Electrifying future of our planet, powered by green innovations

Will Symons, our AP Sustainability Leader has spotlighted hydrogen's pivotal role.

The green hydrogen market is set to expand from US$642 billion in annual revenue by 2030 to a staggering US$1.4 trillion by 2050. This is not just about energy. It is about reshaping our economic landscape and steering us to a sustainable future.

Asia Pacific stands at the forefront, driving the global shift to clean energy. With investments, innovation, and a commitment to green policies, the region is gearing up for a transformative journey toward sustainability. Imagine a world where our industries, transport, and daily energy needs are met with zero emissions!

To continue to catalyse innovative climate and sustainability solutions, we recently launched our Asia Pacific Sustainability Centre of Excellence (CoE) in India. The CoE is a key differentiator for our multidisciplinary model that will enhance our ability to drive successful climate-led transformation and maximise our impact with clients and partners. One of the focus areas is accelerating the energy transition from fossil fuels to lowemission energy sources.

Our future energy system requires low-carbon molecules to decarbonise hard-to-abate sectors, such as aviation, heavy fleet transportation, maritime and more. These high-emitting sectors account for approximately 82% of total global emissions. Deloitte’s economic analysis shows how green hydrogen is expected to play a fundamental role in achieving net zero targets by 2050.

Green hydrogen can give us a second chance to decarbonise the planet, overcoming existing limitations and challenges posed by fossil fuels that add to greenhouse gas emissions. Green hydrogen is produced through electrolysis, where electricity is used to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. For the hydrogen to be considered "green," the electricity used in the process must come from renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, or hydroelectric power.

Those who act now can reap the benefits, economic and environmental, and our Global Hydrogen Center of Excellence is supporting clients to scale up clean hydrogen and drive large-scale decarbonisation.

Actions toward WorldClimate and together for a Green Planet

Audit group 1 – HCM

In recent days, with the sweltering heat of the coming summer, each of us can clearly feel the harshness of the climate increasing gradually each year. Without standing still, each member and each group of Deloitte Vietnam always strives to commit to protect the green environment from very small things such as saving electricity, water, printing paper, toilet paper, reduce waste and say no to non-recyclable plastic products, etc.

On the occasion of Earth Day April 22, 2024, urgent messages are continuously delivered not only to a separate country but to the whole world. Earth Day is to raise awareness and value of the Earth's natural environment. Earth Day was sponsored by US Senator Gaylord Nelson in the environmental conference first held on April 22, 1970.

In 2009, the United Nations General Assembly declared April 22 as International Mother Earth Day.

Deloitte Vietnam always understands this message as step by step leading in activities of ESG programs in the community, contributing to creating a sustainable society and raising awareness for each individual not only Deloitte Vietnam but globally, in the Deloitte community across continents and in the entire society. Accordingly, from a green office to a green future, Deloitte Vietnam accompanies and spreads this green value to family, friends, customers or anyone around us so that "Every day is Earth Day”.

We, the members of Audit Group 1Deloitte Vietnam, also join hands to accompany even with small effort but contribute to big things afterwards, including:

Deloitte Vietnam 33rd Anniversary

Proud to be part of the connection and value journey 13/5/1991 - 13/5/2024 Audit group 8 – HCM & Ngo Anh Duc

Deloitte Vietnam - 33 years of companionship and development with the Vietnamese auditing industry continues to maintain the guiding principle of creating positive influencing values. At Deloitte, people are put first, the most core element for Deloitte to continue to create, influence and develop.

Among the company's five core values, "Foster inclusion" and "Take care of each other" aim to build a healthy, caring, sharing and inclusive working environment; a place that unites people as a collective with fairness, trust and recognition. Deloitte also aims for a working environment that respects diversity, where all colleagues feel they belong, are developed and are proud to create values that have a positive impact, first of all, on employees. I would like to quote a quote from Madam Thanh when talking about these values:

" Peer spirit is the love between people in a family who do not share the same bloodline but share extremely noble values, contributing and developing their own humanity." Upholding that spirit, Deloitte Vietnam has continuously organized programs, workshops or training sessions to help employees understand the values that the company aims for. I still remember the day I received the gift basket and medicine when I had to stay home due to Covid-19, or the proud eyes of my colleague when talking about the day she received the food support basket a few days ago. glass. Impact month is also a typical example in the journey of efforts to create positive value. Fundraising booths, staying up all night making yogurt together to prepare for the booth; Together, we made Mosaic paintings and stood in front of many people giving presentations at auctions to raise funds. Giving is also receiving, I feel the value from my small contributions, a library built on an island district, to the smaller things like an additional unit of blood contributed to central blood bank.

With the remaining core values, Deloitte Vietnam is confident in providing high quality services, promoting business, helping businesses and the market reduce risks. Deloitte also always accompanies businesses, customers and related organizations to improve, develop and overcome difficulties during a period of market fluctuations. With the seriousness of my work and that

of my colleagues, I believe that we have always tried our best, with a lot of enthusiasm and eagerness to learn, to bring positive values to customers.

With those values, it is an honor for Deloitte Vietnam to receive the "Vietnam Best Places to Work" award for the 10th consecutive time and the Top 50 "Best Employer of Choice 2023 by Vietnam Student" award for the 3rd consecutive time. . That is the daily effort and effort of the company's leadership team and all colleagues.

Chat with Ms. Phuong - Audit Manager, who has nearly 10 years with Deloitte, shows excitement about all programs and activities of the company, always full of energy. Looking forward to the 33rd anniversary of its founding, she hopes to continue to experience many more anniversaries, witness many important milestones of the company, and her own milestones and also send her wishes to All colleagues are healthy, determined and sharing spirit. Or another time talking to Ms. B - Audit associate, has only been with the company for about 2 years, but you have already felt many of the values that the company is pursuing and wants its employees to pursue. “Even though the work is stressful for some

periods of time, with my youth, I hope to continue to contribute many positive values to the community and customers, and continue to develop myself to continue. continue to accompany Deloitte Vietnam."

On the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of establishment and development, an impressive milestone, we would like to wish the company to continue to achieve many achievements and contribute more positive values. Wishing the leadership team always be confident, wise and united, to lead a strong and growing Deloitte Vietnam. And the last wishes to all colleagues who work hard day and night; Congratulations and thank you for always accompanying each other.

Reflection on journey at the A-team

I joined the Deloitte family in June 2022. Even though I had experience working at previous companies, I was quite nervous initially, as this was the first time I had the opportunity to work for a professional services firm like Deloitte. After the initial period settling in, I gradually got used to the work pace thanks to the support of the team members in the Assurance team (or as everyone affectionately calls it, the A-Team), who are not only technically skilled, but also very sociable and approachable.

During my time working here, one l thing that made a strong impression on me was the strong sense of support and compassion demonstrated by my colleagues, including Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Tien, my Manager. Ms. Tien is what you would call a “superstar” manager in communicating and building relationships with customers, ensuring on-track project progress, as well as handling problems that arose during the project in a flexible and logical manner. Not only that, but Ms. Tien is also a very thoughtful person and helps team members

feel comfortable to share if they encounter difficulties during a project.

Besides, Mr. Bui Van Trinh, Partner of the Assurance department, is also someone I always remember for how friendly and approachable he is. Despite being a Partner with a packed schedule, Mr. Trinh regularly creates chances for everyone in A-team to chat with him and share opinions, regardless of the member's level. His dedication and warmth spread to each team member, creating a positive work environment, and encouraging everyone to dedicate themselves to their work. Besides Mr. Trinh and Ms. Tien, other Directors, Managers, and Seniors that I have the opportunity to work with are all very nice people and always enthusiastically support and guide me in my work.

My journey up to this point at A-Team has enabled me to learn a lot on how to work effectively, how to coordinate with members from different backgrounds to bring forward the best work results for the clients. It has been a truly memorable experience and an important development milestone in my career.

Joining Deloitte and A-Team as an Associate marked a lot of new turning points for my career journey and postgraduation chapter. The opportunity presented itself as a fresh start, offering a chance for me to gain valuable experiences and insights into a new field. Going back to when I was still a college student, I too, fell into the pit of setting somewhat expectations for the place and the people that I’m going to work with. Fortunately, reflecting on those expectations now, I realized that the environment and the people at A-Team together pose the expectation I once hoped to check. At A-Team, I find myself surrounded by mentors, coaches of a supportive team, who not only encouraged my professional growth but also my personal development. Each day presents an opportunity to learn and grow, both in terms of hard skills and soft skills, and I still find joy in this continuous process of self-improvement. I’m not typically one to say, “Life has been great here ever since I started with Deloitte, with the team and people.” But the truth is, it has been. However, I’ll put it this way: Life and work have been improved significantly in many aspects since joining A-Team and getting to know and work with all the amazing individuals here, and I’m more than just grateful for this journey.

It’s not just "A job" but is also the proof of "Dare"
Nguyen Thi Thu Ha - A&A
A project does not stop at 'just a job' but is also the greatest testament to the word 'Dare.'

Having gone through more than half of my working time on a project that is unique and novel to not only me but also to Deloitte employees in general, I feel very grateful and proud that I decided to participate in this project.

Truth be told, I am a person who is always curious and I have a big love to explore new things as well as always ready to take on new challenges. Therefore, when my bosses invited me to join the project, despite certain initial hesitations, I felt very excited and once again, I made the decision to face directly and bravely the word 'Dare'.

'Dare' here means daring to step out of the familiar and venture towards new things ahead. Before I started to join this project, it was emphasized that this was a unique and strange project. It can be said that very few employees at the company have experience in the type of service that I will provide in this project. The field in which I give consultation for the client not only just accounting knowledge as in other projects, but It also requires me to have a certain level of knowledge related to systems and SAP. Actually, I and my teammate did not have much experience with this knowledge of supporting the client to change systems and using SAP before so it was a

28 Green Magazine vol.18

big challenge for our team at this time. However, with the spirit of a Deloitter, I understand that I need to turn challenges into opportunities to break through my limits to deliver the best value for the client.

'Dare' because this is one of the projects where I am not only working and communicating with a single party, which is the client but also with many other vendors participating in the project. Therefore, this is also a major change for me. It can be said that this project is the job in which I have worked with the most vendors during my time at Deloitte. During working time on this project, we have to work and communicate smoothly and effectively with six parties including IT, software implementation side, legacy side, interface side, and others in both Vietnam and Thailand with different work styles and each party specializes in a certain field of the project. Working with many parties has trained me in patience, listening skills, as well as the ability to organize, arrange, and synthesize opinions from all parties to deliver to clients and then help to explain and support them to complete tasks successfully.

'Dare' here is also demonstrated in my willingness to accept changes to my long-standing habits. By participating in the project, I had to familiarize myself with an entirely new environment with management,

operations, and work styles that adhere to strict Japanese standards. Thus, all my activities and behaviors had to change to match the client’s culture. When working at Deloitte, I was used to working in a flexible work schedule with an environment consisting of many young, dynamic, and open-minded people. However, when I joined the project, I had to adhere to a strict schedule with work starting at 6 a.m. and coming back home at 7 p.m. Actually, I have to spend an average of 2.5 hours on the bus each day. Besides, My bosses and colleagues now are not Deloitter, instead of that, the client and other vendors collaborating on the project are our bosses and colleagues as well. These changes gave me the opportunity to familiarize myself with a new corporate culture as well as different work styles to grow more mature each day.

After all those instances of 'Dare', I feel that I have 'gained' so much: experiences, learning new things, growing more mature each day, and most importantly, being recognized and appreciated by the client for the values I have brought to the project’s success. Participating in this project once again strengthened my belief in the saying: 'When you have heart, wisdom, faith and you have to work hard, the universe will support you and help you succeed.'

Sharing

Switching from the Audit to the Assurance team can indeed be an exciting experience! It sounds like both teams have their unique dynamics and ways of working. Let’s break down some of the differences and also common point:

Busy Season:

Audit Team: Assurance Team:

Trinh Diem Hang

I officially began my journey with Deloitte in September 2016, and it has been over 7 years since. During this period, I have been fortunate to experience the working environment in both the Audit and Assurance function.

Prior to transitioning to Assurance, I spent 5 years dedicated to the Audit department. Despite facing work pressures and challenges while serving diverse clients across various industries, the knowledge I gained during this time has been valuable.

After 5 years in Audit, I realized that I not only want to identify issues for businesses but also assist them in finding solutions. This led me to transition into the Assurance. For me, this has been an exciting and enriching experience.

In the role of an advisor, you no longer have standardized accounting, auditing frameworks or procedures designed by Deloitte to rely on. Particularly in the field of Accounting Operation Advisory (AOR),

each client has a unique story and specific pain points, seeking tailored solutions that often differ significantly from other clients. Therefore, advisory demands a deep dive into a business's accounting processes and an understanding of how their Accounting department operates. From the initial stage of preparing proposals, the team collaborates to discuss and provide preliminary solutions to the client's challenges. Upon being selected as the service provider, the team collectively drafts plans, discusses report templates, and outlines knowledge transfer strategies to help the client address their issues.

Seeing clients agree to and implement our proposals, and receiving positive feedback, is incredibly rewarding, and motivating. I look forward to more opportunities to assist and contribute to the success of businesses in the future.
