It is with sadness that Ernie’s wife Barbara, daughter’s Courtney, Jennfer, grandson Wofie and best friend Mike W , announce hs passing with al of us by hs side

Ernie was pre-deceased by his Dad Lester Erne s also survved by Mother Joan, daughter Michele, brother Charlie (Wendy), brother Bran and sister Tracey

There are so many wonderfu friends n Ladner to thank for ther tremendous support during ths time To name a few, Kenny D , Jerry K , Wayne and Carol, Hiep and Lnda and the list can go on, we love you al

Ernie wil always be remembered for his quck wit, sense of humour and hs ove of motorcycles He had a heart of gold and wl be missed by al of us, especially by Barbara, the girs, and hs grandson Wofie, who he oved very much

GROVES, Anne “Doreen”

January 12th, 1938 - April 2nd, 2023

The only chid of Nicholas and Anne Simcoe, soulmate and devoted wife of Beverey “Bud” Groves, lovng mother of Nicole, Jordy and Dave, proud grandmother of nne, and loyal frend to many more, Doreen passed peacefuly with famly at her sde on April 2nd, 2023

Her greatest passion was watchng her chidren and grandchidren do anything and everything When she wasn’t cheering on loved ones from the sdelines, Doreen was crushing t on the golf course, curing, playng badmnton, voleybal, swimmng and with an ntelect to match her athletc and muscal prowess, she was the regning household Jeopardy champ!

A master host, Doreen oved to cook and oh how frends and famiy loved to be fed by her Most of al she oved her family and instiled n her chidren strong values that have served them well She wil be dearly missed and forever in our hearts

A ceebraton of Doreen’s ife wil be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 15th, 2023 at Church on Fve, 10200 No 5 Road, Richmond, BC

BUTSCHLER, Anthony Joseph (Tony)

Anthony Joseph Butscher (Tony) age 90, passed away peacefuly on Frday, March 24, 2023 He s predeceased by hs wfe of 66 years, Camla (Cam) He is survived by his 4 sons and their partners (Anthony Jr, Mchael and Caro, Chrstopher and Marianne, Andrew and Dedre); 11 grandchidren; 5 great grandchldren; and many extended famiy and frends

He was born in 1932 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and earned the importance of famly and hard work at a young age He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and met Cam n Whte Horse, YT They were marred in 1955 and settled in Richmond, BC in 1959

Tony was the rock and provider for a famly wth 4 boys He was very involved in hs sons’ activities and sports and was aways there to support He had great success in his busness lfe which allowed the famly many fabulous adventures and experiences

He wil be sadly missed, but we take comfort knowng that he s at peace

de Goutiere, Anna Marie October 17, 1930 - March 31, 2023

It s with great sadness we announce the passing of our Mom, Anna, after a period of il health She passed away peacefuly at the age of 92 at Kn Vilage Long Term Care Home in Tsawwassen, BC She was predeceased by her husband Justin, son Ron, ssters Hlda and Helene, and brothers Albert and Robert Our Mom wil be lovngly remembered by her sons Graeme (Carrie) and Mark (Carol), daughter in law Daphne, stepsons Davd and Peter (Veronica), grandchidren Vina, Benjamin, Daniel, Liam, Ncholas and great-grandchildren, Severn, Lorne, Rany and many nieces and nephews

Anna was born October 17, 1930 in Lake Thelma, Aberta She was accepted into the Vancouver General Hosptal Nursing School in 1949 and achieved her Registered Nursing Dploma in 1952, workng, off and on, as an RN untl retiring n 1990 In Apri 1957, she met the ove of her lfe, Justn de Goutere, and they were marred later that year n Vancouver They remaned together movng from West Vancouver to Port Coqutlam to Prnce Rupert and finaly to Tsawwassen until Justn’s passng n 1968 Mom rased 3 boys of her own aong wth 2 stepsons as a single mom remaning n Tsawwassen until her passing Along the way there were many trips wth her chldren and grandchldren, across Canada by train, to Dsneyland, Vancouver Isand, camping trips to the BC interor, Jasper and Banff

Anna had the travel bug for al her adult life, starting with a trp to Ireland and Engand n 1953 Her travel passon realy caught fire after retring in 1990, seeing the word, mostly wth her sister Heene, sometmes with friend Doreen and on her own to places ike India, China, Japan, Europe, Brazi/ Amazon and across North America Anna aso loved to garden and was a member of the Tsawwassen Garden Club for many years and vounteered for Deta Hospice Socety n their Thrft Store Anna’s retred life aso revolved around the joy of her five grandchldren and was intimately involved n their lves and activites They were her pride and joy as al of her famly and frends were wel aware

Thank you to the excelent care provided by the staff at Kn Vilage n Tsawwassen We also would lke to thank the wonderful staff at St David’s House for ther kindness and care through the COVID years

JOHNSON, Gwendolyn Elsie (nee Mott) 1927 - 2023

Gwen passed away peacefuly on March 21 at the age of 95 She was a beoved matriarch to a large famiy Gwen was predeceased by her husband Bil (2006) and granddaughter Kathryn (2020) She is survved by her six chldren; Jon (Leanna), Mark (Rae), Eric (Favia), Carl (Sherry), Barbara (Don), Janice (George), nine grandchidren; Wil (Kristina), Barbara, Caroline (Geoffrey), Johanna (Giuseppe), Kiera (Thomas) Ashley (Bran), Cody, Amanda (Matt), Tyer, and sx great-grandchidren

Gwen was born in Vancouver on August 8th She attended John Oiver Hgh School and Norma School to become a teacher She deveoped a ifelong confidence to not be imited by her gender After marrying Bil n 1950 they ived with ther young family in numerous BC cties before settlng in Tsawwassen in 1968

Throughout her ife Gwen became proficient at many activites In addtion to teachng - as a way of life - music was a passon She played piano, providing accompaniment at her many parties and famiy events, stil playing nto her nineties Early in life Gwen played tennis for exercse and the socia connections later becoming a taented png pong payer Then there were her many actvities such as: sewing, crafts, painting, cake decoratng, canning, and jam makng that she taught her chldren Church activites were a reguar part of her life To constanty improve her knowledge she joined an investment club for women Gwen wl be especially remembered, by many, for payng brdge and for teachng it at Knsmen for over thirty years

When her chldren were older Gwen returned to teaching as a substitute teacher Starting off in the local elementary schoos her ablites were quckly recognized and soon she was being caled to the Junior and Senior High schools where she was the first femae substitute teacher accepted to teach shop casses

Gwen and Bil enjoyed travellng, often on trips reated to Bll’s ob at B C Hydro They had an endurng, specal connection wth Brazil where there are stil many frends After Bil passed she went on trips and cruises with some of her chldren Also, she traveled to Waes on a church trip and then to reand

Gwen suffered a stroke in 2012 and contnued to partcipate in the communty whle lving with Barb and Don for the ast ten years Special thanks to Dr Noble, Leona, Katherne, Lndsay, Emiy and many others who made that possibe Aso, thanks to the staff at Deta Vew care home for making Gwen comfortable at the end

A Celebraton of Life in honour of Gwen wil be held at 2pm, Saturday, April 15th at St David’s Angican Church, 1115 - 51A St Delta
