I started TREW seven years ago with two great friends, John and Chris Pew. We began with one simple focused mission—design the next wave of technical apparel for the core skier and snowboarder. Our close connection to customers drove product development and we grew and launched annual collections of outerwear and apparel with an expanding retail distribution. Over time, we realized the best products couldn't be made in the traditional retail model. R&D IN THE VALKYRS This past March we made a trip up to Valkyr Lodge near Nelson, British Columbia to hopefully find some powder and test these products, and an array of new textiles and ideas. Valkyr Lodge sits high, 7,000ft, in the Selkirk Mountains, with high-quality ski touring right out the front door. It’s surrounded by an endless amount of micro-zones ready to be yo-yoed, with bigger alpine ascents within a day’s walk. We brought our latest samples of NuYarn® baselayers, QUIX DOWN® insulation, and our new touring outerwear featuring the Dermizax® NX membrane. The mountains obliged with a good mix of riding conditions and perfect gear-testing environments. The new layers and outer-layers were tried and tested when frigid mornings turned boiling hot under clear skies, our new hard-shells were pelted with 50mph ridgetop gusts and snow flying sideways, and of course the one pair of NuYarn ® merino baselayers that I wore every day was adequately proven anti-microbial. QUIX DOWN® Garments: Regular Fit. Our down-insulated garments have a regular fit that can transition between mid-layer and outerlayer. Length is shorter than our shell garments for comfortable layering.
Touring Outerwear: Athletic Fit. The Touring Outerwear has a trimmed fit, with focus on 3D articulation that reduces unnecessary bulk. The jacket is shorter than the freeride garments, and the pants are more trim around the thigh, knee, and bottom opening.
