ANNEX BUS SHELTER

The Annex Bus shelter is located on the campus of Howard university. It was designed with the needs of the students in the surrounding residential buildings in mind. Based of the location of the immediate site, and conditions surrounding the location, the annex bus shelter satisfies these conditions, ans successfully caters to the needs of the students on the campus.

LOTUS POND PODS

The Lotus Pond Pods are biophilic office spaces that were designed to adhere and promote social distancing rules; rules that have been placed as a result of the pandemic that the world is currently facing. Inspired by the features of a lotus flower, the pond pods were thoughtfully placed across the pond to mimic lotus flowers. The pond pods ex-hibit biomimicry of lotus flowers, and their arrangement. The Lotus Pond Pods are a glimpse into how the aftermath of social distancing will affect modern-day architecture.

CONCEPT CONCEPT: THE LOTUS FLOWER

SITE PLAN

The relationship between the lotus flower and its placement on ponds, inspired my design for the pond pods

SERPENTINE PAVILLION

This project was about creating a spatial construct and then translating it and assigning it purpose. Choosing the verbs of “Folding and Twisting”, I was able to intertwine the harsh and sharp patterns of folds and turn them into a somewhat serpentine shape.

TWISTING AND FOLDING

EXPERIMENTATION WITH COLOR sharp language

Picking the transformation verbs “ twisting & folding” I was able to create a spatial construct that combined the harsh language of the folds, and the smoothness of the twists to create a brand new exprerience

colored trace paper against opaque white paper- creates colored shadows

smooth language

Experimentation with different color application techniques successfully conveyed different experience within the constructs. watercolor in one direction - creates a gradient effect

DEVELOPMENT Jagged edges

Captuing experiences within the construct

SCALE EXPERIMENTS

Experimentation with scale helped to identify what scale woould be more feasible for the design of the construct

Pleats of the fan-like construct operate as walls- construct operates as a building

1 2 Section cut starts to point out two possible experiences under the the same construct

Construct operates as a canopy

During the iteration process, I started to experiment with disrupting the smooth curve of the fan-like model.

GO-GO COMMUNITY MUSEUM

Inspired primarily by the history of Anacostia, and its environment, the gogo museum seeks for members of the community to see and feel the art (physical, and musical). The museum promotes reflection by creating spaces that would invoke thought. The gogo museum also seeks to bring the community together through shared experiences and love of art.
