DEMUR Alternative Office Spaces As we work with many Freelancers and various creatives, we know how difficult it maybe not to have an office base, especially when you are starting out. At home you find there are many distractions and it’s perhaps not cost effective to get an office. We want you to know, we feel your pain and we have heard your cries! We’ve put together a list of some great places in London where you can get your head in the game and get some work done. 20 Fenchurch Street ( The Walkie Talkie Building) London EC3M 3BY How about getting some work done in a park…up in the sky? The Walkie Talkie building offers up some amazing views of the beautiful city of London. The garden in the sky is located on the 35, 36 & 37th floors of 20 Fernchurch Street. It’s free to visit the garden in the sky, however you have to book your slot in advance on the website www.skygarden. london/booking. Each slot is limited to 1.5 hours. The garden is open from 10am-6pm Monday to Friday and 10am-10pm on the weekend. There are also some restaurants on all floors if you wish to grab a bite to eat, whilst you are up there. One more thing, we must let you know, security is pretty tight. Think airport style security. Make sure you also take your I.D, which matches the name you used to reserve your spot. Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park London E20 2ST How about a picnic to help ease the workload? When the sun is out, working in the outdoors can be great for your mind and create a great atmosphere. In the tech savvy world that we live in, it is very important that your workspace offers Wi-Fi. After all, the whole world is online. Good thing Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park offer free Wi-Fi to their visitors. Enjoy the wonderful greenery and inhale the air of London before the rain creeps up on you. You may want to check out the park’s website to see if the park is being used for any events , as this may get in the way of your work day at the park.

Ziferblat 388Old St, London EC1V 9LT
Ziferblat is a dream work space for any creative. Where else are you going to find an office space that offers space for a nap? At Ziferblat you can do whatever you want! You can sit at the piano and have a play around, settle down with a book, pull out some of the board games or just kick back and enjoy some of the performances on show.
Google Campus 4-5 Bonhill St, Shoreditch, London EC2A 4BX
For just 5p a minute, yes 5 pennies, you get as many refills as you want of your tea or coffee and free WiFi. Ziferblat is also a great place for networking. As you can imagine, the place is filled with other freelancers and creatives who may benefit from collaborating with someone like you. Yes…you.
As you may know Google was started up in a garage in California, but not everyone has a garage to work from. So Google offer up some work spaces in what they call their Campus. This is a rather cool place to work from. We can’t guarantee that you will bump into the Google gurus, but you will meet other ambitious entrepreneurs at the Campus Café. The Café of course sells fresh coffee, tea and your usual light refreshments. There are also various events that take place on the Campus, which are aimed at innovative start-ups. You can check out the calendar at www.campus.co/london. If you have a bigger team or you fancy hosting an event yourself, you can also hire out some of the other spaces on the Google Campus.

Noose & Monkey We were recently invited to a pre LCM: London Collection Mens event by the lads over at Dress Code Nation. Noose & Monkey was the brand showcasing their latest collection and from the moment we were walked into the venue, we knew it was going to be a pleasurable experience, not only for our eyes but for our active fashionable imagination. As soon as we left the event we were intrigued to find out more about Noose & Monkey. The story about your brand (the mistaken identity and the disguise) is quite interesting. How did you arrive at using that story to explain your brand? One of the founders of the brand is a keen historian, if you are not familiar with the story of the Hartlepool monkey; it is a story of mistaken identity and one our co-founder thought fitted in perfectly with style of clothes we create. What we took from the story and what we found relevant in modern society is, the role our clothes play in the way we are perceived by others. What you wear is such a unique way of expressing yourself without even having to speak. Who is the Noose & Monkey man? How would you describe him, what are his hobbies? We really do feel that there are styles and aspects of each design for every man. We really don’t target any one type of guy. Obviously there are certain periods of the year like Prom period when we will put on competitions and offers for the young men wanting to be best dressed for their end of school party. Or wedding season, we have a lot of guys wanting to wear something different from the traditional plain wedding suit. How would we describe the Noose & Monkey man? Modern. Noose and Monkey is about stepping out of the boundaries set by traditional tailoring. It’s the revolution of tailoring.

There is the notion that men are not as interested in fashion as women are. Do you take a different approach when maketing your brand to men? From our experience, since starting the brand, the reaction we have had has been way beyond what we expected. We honestly have grown men begging us for styles that have gone out of stock, it’s crazy! When it comes to marketing the brand to men, we like to keep it honest and simple. We let the clothes do the talking. We recently previewed your latest collection at the W Hotel, which was amazing by the way! What are you going to do to ensure that your brand and your collections keep up to date with the modern man? Living in one of the fashion capitals of the world has its benefits. There is inspiration all around from the moment you walk out the door, from the individual style of people in the streets to the amazing vintage stores dotted around the capital. We work all year round on making sure everything from the design, construction, fabric and price, are the best that we can possibly offer and from the reaction and amazing feedback we receive on a daily basis, we are fully confident we are moving in the right direction. Bestival’s own dancefloor destroyer Rob da Bank says: “However hard I try to stay away from the brain-melting mega-rave zone that is Temple Island at Betsival the more I seem to get dragged into the madness. With its unique stepped dancefloor and open air Ibiza vibe it really is one of our best venues at Bestival. Last year it seemed to be a lock out from lunchtime till the wee hours, and this year will be no different with so many amazing names and legends from Goldie and Annie Nightingale to new bloods My Nu Leng and Oneman… oh

Featuring a provocative feast of curious follies by day and an unmissable whiff of penetrating, tongue in cheek fun by night, this is just one glimpse of The Future at Bestival’s anthology of the absurd this September on the Isle of Wight.
As day time turns to night we discover exactly what lurks beneath the belly of the Bestival beast… fizzing with gay abandon, The Amphitheatre will transform into a glitter-strewn arcadia where Bestival’s number one drag slags Sink the Pink await you on Friday and Saturday night. The Amphitheatre will also have bottle-blonde-bombshell beats with Dystopia Presented by Jodie Harsh, limp-wristed future weirdness from Scottee's Camp, Hacienda legend Greg Wilson's Super Weird in the Woods, with The Reynolds and Blind Arcade, Backstreet bacchanalia with Figs in Wigs, homo-hip-hop from Hard Cock Life, and the chance to unleash your hidden diva with Gospeloke. It might be off the beaten track but it’s definitely one to search out if you’re looking to have your mind blown by all manner of crazy things. From our mates Sink the Pink, Jodie Harsh and Scottee to madcap theatre, spellbinding poetry and brilliant comedy you won’t know what’s hit you”. Get Ready For Slamboree At Bestival! Just by looking at the Bestival line-up you can tell it is going to be a crazy long weekend. One particular act that stands out for us and perhaps describes the Bestival experience is Slamboree. Slamboree is a live band with a Smorgasbord of circus performers, daredevils and entertainers. They take each show as it comes, and every gig is very different to the last. We spoke to Mike Freear, Catherine Sharples (Kathika Rabbit) and Lizzie West to find out what the gang have got planned for Bestival and how we can join these cool dudes. You guys seem like an interesting ensemble, how do you prepare and decide who or what goes into a big festival performance? We try to make every show different, we try to adapt to our audience, stage and setting. We like to mix theatrical moments, circus and comedy to bring you an eclectic unique show. Generally Freear, Kathika and Lizzie decide on what goes into the show both musically and visually. It’s a combination of the two. Once Kathika and Freear are happy with the tracks they get together with Lizzie who choreographs the show with a whole range of various performers to fit the
music into a big epic bass driven show! We have an interchanging core group of performers and we also book guest performers from around the world. Is there an album or some sort of epic movie on the way? Our debut album is out this year so look out for it. What have you got planned to blow us away at Bestival this year? Not much...just fire, circus, sideshow, geishas, ninjas, blood, gore, parachutes, male nipple tasseling, 33
sword swallowing and puppets! If we wanted to join Slamboree what would be your requirements? You mustn’t take yourself too seriously and not mind sweat mixed with a lot of glitter! We want to know who to rave with at Bestival. Do you guys party as hard as you perform or is it a quiet night in? [laughs] We welcome you to join us but the question is, can you keep up?
HIP-HOP MEETS DANCEHALL UPTOWN WIZ KHALIFA – SEAN PAUL TO CLOSE BESTIVAL AN AUDIO-VISUAL FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR - A TRIBUTE TO PRINCE PURPLE RAVE Busting out from the houses of joy, the mighty main stage is going to take a spanking as Bestival turn up the levels on the Future of partying that will bring Bestival 2016 to a jubilant close. Rob da Bank says: “We love a big finale at Bestival, we also love hip-hop and dancehall, and two massive super-sets from Wiz Khalifa and Sean Paul seems like a solid plan to close off another big weekend of music of raving, partying and expanding your minds at Bestival. Pull up!” Commenting on his Sunday night headline performance Wiz Khalifa said: “Can’t wait to be back in the UK and perform at Bestival. The fans here have such good energy; it’s going to be lit.”
Bestival have not just one but two Billboard Hot 100 chart toppers - hip-hop superstar Wiz Khalifa and dancehall legend Sean Paul – who will be the twin big things at the greatest party the Future has ever seen. Kicking off with Sean Paul, who will be taking it uptown with sweet beats and all the bass, you can expect to be dutty wining all the time as we transcend the normal and head into the unknown. Famed for getting the dance bouncing with tracks like Get Busy, Temperature and Entertainment, you know this is going to go Full Frequency… but that’s just part one.

So, don’t you dare miss our eye-popping pyrotechnic paean showcasing hits, rarities, the odd cheeky bootleg and more, all accompanied by a coruscating firework spectacular that will be our heartfelt tribute to the one that got away.
And keeping the good news flowing, Bestival have got even more future sailors joining the bill, who we predict will be making jubilant appearances across the weekend, including Oxford quarOnce the dancehall behaviour tet Glass Animals, and fast, has lit the blue touch paper mesmeric masters Crystal on Bestival’s most epic of fi- Fighters. nales, we get the hip-hop as Wiz Khalifa takes to the stage to drop the dopest flow. Looking forward to his headline appearance, Sean Paul said: “I can’t wait to play at Bestival... I’ve heard the grand finale on the Sunday night is the best festival spot in the UK and I’m gonna bring Capping one of our most inthe fyyyaahhh” credible Sunday nights ever will be Purple Rave a truly Yes! ARTIST MAFIA Artist Mafia is the brain child of three creative and determined guys based in Las Vegas. With an amalgamation of talents and ambition, Tony Zanello, Anthony Wynkoop and Jonny Iwamoto, offer us Artist Mafia Gallery & Artist Mafia Records. Artist Mafia is an independent brand that offers a platform for emerging art curators and music artists. We caught up with the mafia bosses to find out the fun and games of doing business in Las Vegas and the parties in the name of Artist Mafia that take place there.
ground scene. So far this has made a little bit of an impact on the underground scene. On the visual art side of things, we give the artists the ability to focus on what matters more for them which is their creativity and we take the weight off their shoulders by marketing their work for them.
What qualities do you think make an artist go farther in the industry? Definitely the ability to collaborate. Many people can write a song, play an instrument or plug in their laptop and produce a song very well by themselves. However it is difficult to get people who can do this exceptionally well to work together in the same room as an independent artist. For independent artists, the tools are there for the questions these artists have. You can distribute your music yourself with things like Soundcloud and other avenues. Once you are able to find the tools to the questions you have, you can make use of them and go farther.
Tony, how did you make the decision to branch out and expand into music? After I had been running Artist Mafia for a little while, I made the decision that it had to grow. Naturally art and music go well together and so I met these two guys and we started working on the label and hope to branch out into the fashion industry as well at some point. Can you tell us how Artist Mafia benefits the independent emerging artist out there? A lot of work is done on social media and we don’t think an artist can juggle the art and the promotion at the same time, if they plan on doing well in the industry. That’s where Artist Mafia steps in by providing a platform for artists to promote their work.
Do you feel an artist needs to be more flexible then? Absolutely, when you see an artist release an album with 7-10 collaborations it’s because that artist is open minded. Being an independent company yourself, how difficult has it been to provide a platform for your artist to showcase their work to the world? The artists that we work with are just so grateful. Like Jae Douglas an R’n’B singer that we have on our roster, he is just grateful along with the other artists, that he can get what he is thinking in his head on to a Spotify playlist for the world to hear. Like recently “Let Go” by Laissez Faire featuring one of our artist Ria, made it on to a Spotify playlist with over 260,000 followers and
With the market being so saturated with a lot of artists already, what do you guys do differently to ensure your artists stand out? The music scene in Las Vegas is not well respected. The artists and the music sort of stay underground and it’s a lot harder to go commercial. Our networking skills come into play. We merry up our artists with open minded creatives, people who like to think outside the box to cultivate the under-
35
you feel your job is done at that point? We have only been running this thing for a year and none of our artists are on a world star level as yet. The artists we work with they don’t expect anything but support and we don’t expect a lot back from them, as in we are not expecting to claim a huge commission from their earnings. We would never do anything to hold them back. We only demand hard work, dedication and co-operation from our artists. Whatever happens, whether they go on to win a Grammy or something crazy like that, with or without us, it’s a great achievement for us too. We are also very selective about the artists we sign on and who we want to represent the Artist Mafia brand.
that is because we have Tony & Jonny handling the business side of things which allows Ria to just concentrate on writing her music. Do you offer any training or guidance to your artist to help mould them into professionals or make them more appealing to the public? We try to support our artists to stay true to themselves and we encourage them not only to be good artist but commendable members of the public. A lot of our artists are quite young and they are doing a lot of exciting things which they want to share with the public. We want them to be flexible in the image that they portray to the world incase they choose to switch careers later on down the road. How do you find the artists that you sign on? We started off with a very small team and a handful of artists, but now people are sending demos to us and approaching us and wanting to work with us. What was the vision when you set up Artist Mafia, what did you want to achieve with it? When Artist Mafia was born it was all about helping people. It was never about us and it still isn’t about us today. It’s about the artists we work with and we want to see them do well. Who are some the artist on your roster we should look out for? Jae Douglas is phenomenal. He can do everything that Drake does. He sings, raps, dances and can act too and he is only 19 years old. He is the next big thing. There is Ria, a singer and a songwriter. She has done a lot of features recently and we are also in talks with Universal to collaborate on a few songs with their artists. We have acoustic artists who are a bit more eclectic. We could easily fill up a Glastonbury line up with the various artists we have on our roster. After you have built up these independent artists and they become bigger artists. Do

Guide To Abode Starting a rapidly maturing life as a guestlist only House music haven, ABODE now expand from their 3,000 capacity home at Studio 338 to residences on both the British and White Isles. Announcing a calendar of home and away shows, this city staple seems already set to celebrate a year of scene-wide ascendency. Bringing us up to present the brand hosted its own stage at We Are FSTVL, with now widely recognized residents Ellie Cocks and Jimmy Switch shutting down a familiarly capacity party. Now, more stunning Studio 338 dates await plus more extra-curricular clubbing out-of-doors; with the same infectious character making for the all-important incursion into Ibiza. Abode has made waves with its invite only mentality, meaning the same detailed and discerning approach is taken to curating artist, venue andaudience. With every element in balance, each party is of a pedigree that this night takes as basic. With Ibizan charm and colour, Abode welcomes a crowd regularly queued up for invites to a day equal parts decadent and chic. This sophisticated standard means the crew are easily settled in to surroundings such as the Sky Loft, for a charity
party October 1st. Details on that and a long-anticipated Abode Weekender this Summer, are forthcoming and sure to be furnished in similar style. It is this finessed concept which claims Sankeys, Space – where residents will host the premier stage - and Savannah. Epitomizing the team is resident Ellie Cocks, quickly crafting a rising reputation on the club circuit. From a weekly radio show on Reprezent 107.3FM and representing from the forefront of Abode, Ellie has served notice on all UK DJs to witness her go from strength to stardom. With a passion to play no two show the same and a pioneering attitude behind scouting the tunes for each set, as remarkable as this topical talent is she is certainly not home alone. In serious taste for Tech House both popularly appealing and proudly a part of the aesthetic, with talk of a record label which being launched this Summer featuring releases from Abode friends and family and rumours of an ABODE weekender coming in August, Abode will excel and exceed this season.
Henrik Schwarz unveils his remix of OFF Feat. Sven Väth ‘Electrica Salsa’
30 years on German electronic music figurehead and label boss Sven Väth has re-released his seminal track Electrical Salsa with a remix from Henrik Schwarz. The track which was recently re-released was first played on the airwaves when Sven was a 21-year old member of Frankfurt project OFF. The single back then peaked at top three in the charts in France, Austria and Germany at a time when electronic music was still considered a taboo. Sven recalls, “I was most happy about the great success we had with ‘Electrica Salsa’ in Ibiza and Italy, where we actually made number one… Ibiza was the greatest source of inspiration. We flew down there every year in the eighties; the Island really had a strong influence on us with its eclectic sounds at the times. The Balearic Sound was a mix of Italo Disco, Wave, Funk and African Percussion. We wanted to become part of it – and I still am today! Thirty years on that fire is still glowing and that’s the reason why we released new mixes: they are a gift to my fans that have been accompanying me for such a long time.”
Bright Light Bright Light – Choreography If you can get Sir Elton John to feature on three songs on one album, there must be something special about you.
