2020 40’ X 40’| Columns on exterior edge. Prefabricated parts and modules in Loft style or private bedrooms. Other unit types consist of live work and shared living for larger housing mass. Masses lifted by columns of varying sizes between 1’ to 4’ diameter. Pitched roofs provide variation of massing as well as control of rain collection.
60’ X 60’| Framed grid around central core of columns. Grid based on 20’ spacing to allow deepest module. Elevator and steel Bracing for Lateral Forces. Massing lifted by larger columns 0f 6’ including 4 main and 2 diagnol brace. Grids gives opportunity for different organization of units per mass, allowing longer or shorter edges to touch perimeter.
STRUCTURAL CONCEPT | Creating a floating city involves an inventive system to lift different housing types and granting the ability to expand. The system creates individual platforms varying in heights. As metabolists strive for organic growth, this provides ways of adding to the system introducing new buildings rather then constant growing of individual masses. This organization of masses creates a community of buildings with space above, below and in between. 35

FRIGATE’S RESTAURANT MELBOURNE, FLORIDA Brent Wood Architecture
RENOVATION/EXPANSION - RESTUARANT/COMMERCIAL - 2017 4800 SQFT A/C SPACE 9500+ TOTAL SPACE Frigates is a popular river side restaurant known for its seafood and boat side service and views. The owners looking to expand from their West Palm Beach, Florida location looked ot build a new to expand their brand. The site they found had an abandoned restaurant on the water and would be the perfect location for the project. The Design included creating two indoor dining areas, sushi bar, commercial kitchen, bar areas indoor and outdoor, as well as otutdoor dining pods down the slope toward the water. I took over the project during design development and worked out details for the unique style Frigates branded itself on. Solving site grading and ADA ramping to bring the dining pods to life and connect the upper restaurant with the lower bar and docks. Working with structural Engineers and owners to make the existing site work and meet code.
