June-O Checklist
The Admitted Student Portal at connect.denison.edu contains forms and tasks that you are required to complete prior to your June-O session:
› Register for June-O
› Complete the Advising & Academic Interests Form
This form allows our staff to pair students with a faculty member for their June-O session.
› Complete the Math Placement Assessment
All students entering Denison complete the Math
Placement Assessment prior to June-O even if they do not intend to take a math course while at Denison.
› Language Placement Assessment
Depending on how a student plans to complete the
Modern Languages general education requirement, the Admitted Student Portal will indicate whether they need to complete a Language Placement
Assessment.
August Orientation (AUG-O) concentrates
primarily on issues of adjustment and the development of skills, both of which are critical to success in college. Aug-O activities will offer you an opportunity to get to know your fellow students, learn more about living and learning at Denison, and to have a lot of fun.
Aug-O is mandatory for all new first-year and transfer students. You’ll receive a final copy of the Aug-O schedule when you arrive on campus. Aug-O programming begins the evening of Thursday, August 25 and continues through Sunday, August 28. Fall semester classes then begin on Monday, August 29.
Fees (On-Campus Sessions Only)
The fee for a student to participate in an on-campus session is $250. This fee covers the cost of all food, lodging, linens, and orientation materials. Each adult family member participant is an additional $30. Adult family members wishing to stay in a university residence hall may do so for $50 per person or $75 for a pair of adults sharing the same room. Students are required to stay overnight in a residence hall as part of the program. If you need to cancel an on-campus June-O registration, your fee will be refunded after June 27.
Travel
Students should plan to arrive on campus no later than 11:30 am on Day 1, and plan to depart campus no earlier than 12:30 pm on Day 2.
You should indicate on the June-O registration form in the Admitted Student Portal if you need a shuttle from the John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH) to campus. The Office of First-Year Experience will then contact those needing a shuttle to collect travel information and assign a shuttle time prior to their session.
Day 1 shuttles will leave the airport beginning as early as 9 am. Day 2 shuttles will depart campus between 12:30-2:30 pm. It takes approximately 45 minutes to get to the Columbus airport from Denison. Please schedule your travel accordingly.
You should not make non-refundable flight arrangements until your registration has been confirmed.

7 pm Induction Ceremony for the Class of 2026
Each year, Denison welcomes the newest members of its student community at the Induction Ceremony. As part of this ceremony, held outdoors on the Reese~Shackelford Common, members of the faculty and staff greet and applaud the new class, which processes along Chapel Walk before arriving at the Common. The president formally welcomes the new class with a charge to excellence and service over the next four years. In addition to the president, speakers include the student body president of the Denison Campus Governance Association, the chair of the faculty, and the vice-president of Institutional Advancement.
Also included is the premiere performance of a musical fanfare that has been commissioned specifically for the class. Four years later, at the class’ Commencement exercises, the fanfare is performed for the second and final time. Parents and other family members are encouraged to attend this very special ceremony for their incoming students. The ceremony will also be live-streamed and recorded for family members who are not able to attend in person.
Students moving in early for fall athletics
or Pre-Orientation programs will hear from Residential Communities & Housing and their coach or orientation leaders. Those students will participate in afternoon programming and the Induction Ceremony on Thursday, August 25.
