‘WORLD-CLASS ENTREPRENEUR’
Koncikowski grew up in Argyle and helped run his family’s farm beginning at the age of 10 when his father died. He graduated from Argyle Central School in 1965, then pursued a degree in Business Management at SUNY Albany. “Gary was very enterprising,” Lake George Town Supervisor Dennis Dickinson said Monday, noting that Koncikowski was one of his fi rst clients when he opened his surveying business, D.L. Dickinson Associates, in 1978. “Gary was a world-class entrepreneur — he built subdivisions all over Warren County.” » Koncikowski Cont. on pg. 2

In New York state, a driver can be charged with aggravated DWI if he or she drives with a BAC of .18 percent or higher. A first aggravated DWI offense is punishable by up to one year of jail time, a fine between $1,000 and $2,500, and license revocation for at least one year. Sokol was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and ticketed for speeding and moving from lane unsafely. A DWI is not a charge that could result in Sokol being removed from office. aggravated driving while intoxicated, Sokol issued his apology at the beginning of the committee meeting he chairs, saying, “I made a poor choice...I’m very sorry.” According to a Warren County Sheriff ’s Office news release, Patrol Officer J.C. Kearns stopped Sokol’s vehicle on Corinth Road in Queensbury on May 28, at about 8:30 p.m., The report said Kearns observed Sokol speeding and veering into the oncoming lane of traffic. Sokol’s speed was not recorded on radar but was judged excessive for the area in which he was driving. During the traffic stop, Kearns determined Sokol, 50, was intoxicated, and Sokol later

» Koncikowski Cont. from pg. 1 Dickinson also recalled how in the 1970s and 1980s, Koncikowski could be found in his “office,” a table in the rear of the Lake George Howard Johnson’s restaurant with his business papers and stock research and performance reports covering his workspace. “Gary loved to evaluate land and determine its potential,” Dickinson said. “He loved land — and stock trading.” Argyle Town Supervisor and columnist Bob Henke recounted memories that go back further. He and Koncikowski were in the same grade at Argyle Central, and both of their fathers died the same year — which secured a lifelong bond between them, Henke said. This bond was evident in how they exchanged information via a secretive code — spelling words backwards, he continued. One of their encoded plans, a prank to pour vegetable oil into the soap dispenser in the teachers’ bathroom — Gary was the lookout in the plot — was foiled when the teacher deciphered their code, Henke said. Koncikowki was an imaginative entrepreneur from an early age, Henke continued,

boring towns to buy them — so they hitchhiked their way there. Their attempts to hitchhike back were difficult, however, as they carried their ducks and chickens in burlap sacks, he said — which in some instances resulted in some frantic situations when one of the creatures got loose in someone’s sedan — “ricocheting around the vehicle,” Henke said. Henke also recalled when Koncikowski, as a senior in college, bought the The Bavarian House restaurant in Lake George — which a year earlier Henke had advised him was a risky endeavor. Two years later, however, Koncikowski’s new restaurant was prosperous enough that he bought a Corvette that was virtually identical to one he’d bought several years earlier but had been vandalized beyond recovery. “Gary was rarely unsuccessful in any of his numerous business ventures, partially due to this streak of tenacity but primarily because he worked so darned hard,” Henke said. “I will sorely miss Gary’s way of looking at the world, and I always appreciated his vision.” Dickinson recalled that the Bavarian House was indeed successful with Koncikowski at the helm.
“Gary turned the Bavarian House into a first-class restaurant,” he said. Koncikowski’s determination and perseverance was also exemplified in how he redeveloped a drive-in movie theater, Henke said, into a very successful water park which for decades has been a major attraction in Lake George. He said that Water Slide World in the late 1970s was “an amusement park unlike anyone had ever seen in this part of the world.” Koncikowski’s obituary notes that he expanded Water Slide World year after year, adding a wave pool, New York State’s first, in 1984. Dickinson remarked that he saw Koncikowski and his wife Dawn just about two weeks ago in a local restaurant — the two had paint spatters on their clothing from their joint effort painting one of the pools at the water park — evidence of their strong work ethic. “Gary loved living and working here in Lake George,” Dickinson said. “The community will certainly miss him.” A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated May 30 at Sacred Heart Church in Lake George. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery. To leave an online condolence for the family, see: sbfuneralhome.com. ■
Warrensburg Highway Dept. poised to relocate By Thom Randall STA FF W RITER
WARRENSURG | For many decades, the Town of War-
rensburg Highway Department has endured storing its fleet of trucks, snow plows and equipment in and around a cramped stone garage situated on King Street in a primarily residential area close to downtown.
Within months, however, the town may have a new headquarters for its highway maintenance operations in a spacious, modern building situated in the Warrensburg Industrial Park on a 1.5-acre site off Route 9 north of the hamlet.
Prevent
Lyme and Other Tickborne Diseases Lyme and other tickborne diseases are caused by bacteria spread through the bite of an infected tick.
To avoid tick bites:
* Wear repellent. * Check for ticks daily. * Shower soon after being outdoors. * Remove ticks by grasping with tweezers close to the skin pulling straight up. Clean the bite area with soap & water. * Early symptoms of disease may be mild & easily missed. Note the date and site of the bite. Call your health care provider for further guidance and/or treatment.

The Warrensburg Town Board made an offer recently to purchase the former BP Performance Custom Trailers building at 9 Industrial Park Rd. A sale contract was signed and the transfer of the property is now in the hands of lawyers, who are negotiating final details, Supervisor Kevin Geraghty said this week. Built in 2008, the Performance Trailers building is 6,300 square feet, several times the size of the existing town highway garage. It has three large overhead doors and it was constructed to accommodate at least one more, allowing entry and storage of equipment that has in years past been subjected to weather, Geraghty said. The pending sale offer is for $383,000, or the assessed value plus $16,500 for miscellaneous equipment including pallet jacks, a tow motor, racks and other items remaining inside the steel building, Geraghty said. “The building is a very valuable replacement for the existing highway building on King St. considering it is plenty big enough for their equipment,” Geraghty said. At the April 11 town meeting, the town board voted to borrow $300,000 for the purchase by issuing a bond. The 1.5-acre site can also accommodate plenty of additional equipment and outbuildings — possibly a salt shed, Geraghty said, adding that the town has a grant lined up for its construction. The site, directly off Route 9, also means convenient access and less truck traffic through downtown and the adjacent residential neighborhoods. Geraghty said he the present highway garage — constructed with a stone-blocks facade — will be likely be up for sale soon. “We’d like to see the garage put to a new use,” he said. “This is a great move for the highway department and it’s good for the town,” Geraghty said. “We hope the sale will go through.” ■

LAKE GEORGE | Students of Lake George High School have an outsized presence this year in a prominent regional art exhibition. Seventeen works of art created by 14 students from Lake George High School are among the 100 works now on exhibit through June 10 in The Hyde Collection’s 27th annual High School Juried Show. At the artists reception and awards ceremony held last month, Hyde interim director Anne Saile said she was deeply impressed by the quality of the work in the exhibit, as well as the skill and insight of the students represented. “The art is just astonishing,” she said as a crowd descended into the art museum’s gallery. She said that the prevailing high quality of artwork made not only made it “quite difficult” to chose 100 works for the exhibit from the 700 works submitted. “There’s incredible talent in this area,” Saile said. Students from northern Warren County with artwork selected for the exhibit are Lake George students: Sara Bunalski, Matthew Burrows, Logan Galusha, Jordan Gregory, Grace Hatin, Julia Heunemann, Colby Hollihan, Eden Kuri and Mirissa Schmeelke — all exhibiting art photographs; Jack Kelleher, Lauren Mondana and Autumn Shaughnessy, jewelry; Grace Harris, sculpture; and Nicole Kingsley, mixed media and ceramics. The Lake George students with two works selected were Harris, Heunemann and Kingsley. Representing North Warren High School was Kylee Granger with her art photograph titled “Bromus.” This year, the students exhibiting were asked for a narrative describing the inspiration and execution of their creations. Saile said these artist statements were expressive and revealing. “They showed how deeply thoughtful and creative our high school students are,” she said, noting that a substantial number of student exhibitors are headed for college tackling majors other than art. “It makes us proud our area has such great thinkers,” she said. “Because they are creative in art, I am sure they will be creative in many other endeavors.” Show organizer Jenny Hutchinson said the young artists’ work exemplifies the prominence of the area’s “creative economy” which encompasses many job opportunities offering work that can boost the region’s cultural resources, yet provide a living salary.

TIME MACHINE TRAVEL
It was just another dreary Monday morning when I parked in the parking lot of the Warrensburgh Post Office and stepped out of my automobile. I raised my eyes unto the hills to behold a sleepy view of Hackensack Mountain off in the distance, and to my amazement and in a bolt of mental lightening, I found myself suddenly transported back more than 150 years to another amazing time in Warrensburgh history.
HISTORY PERISHED
Before me was an inevitable sight that I had dreaded seeing for a long time but always knew that the day would come. John L. Russell’s historic horse barn was gone, but left standing was the remarkable hand crafted stone foundation that was truly a work of art, a thing of beauty that had been carefully built and laid out all those many years ago by hands that have long resided in the grave. The historic mansion that had once complimented it so well had been gone since March 13, 1980 in a memorable blaze, and that barn was all that was left to attest to the history that had once taken place there. Obviously the workers who had demolished the barn had respect for the amazing foundation and carefully laid stones that had remained and left it clean and in good standing, a testimony to its days of glory.
known as Riverside Gallery. After a long day over the ovens, Loran would sit in his office with his little glass of scotch whiskey and tell me stories of the old days of the Queen Village. Born in 1894, he grew up on Water Street as a poor young boy and he remembered the wonderful town parades here in years long gone. His best memory was of Capt. Russell’s beautifully groomed show horses. He spoke of their red leather harnesses with little silver bells. He said those horses were beautiful, and they well knew it. This year, in the Memorial Day parade, I saw two incredible show horses from Thurman, and I was reminded of those days, so long ago, that a little boy stood, probably on the same curb where I was standing and was also blown way by the sight of such beauty. Loran was 90 years old when he died in 1984.
GRAND ERA FINISHED FOREVER
Francis Bacon wrote in 1605, “Antiquities are history defaced, or some remnants of history which have casually escaped the shipwreck of time.” In the case of Russell’s horse barn, all that escaped “the shipwreck of time” is a beautifully crafted stone foundation to remind us of what was once there. The house, the people, the horses and the barn are gone forever. Th is is a time to pause and remember as time relentlessly marches on. ■ — Readers are welcome to contact Adirondack Journal/Sun correspondent Jean Hadden at jhadden1@nycap.rr.com or 623-2210.

POTTERSVILLE | Girl Scouts Troop 3679 pitched in to clean Scaroon Manor Campground earlier this month as part of the state Department of Environmental Conservation’s (DEC) seventh annual “I Love My Park Day,” held May 5 at locations across the state. Locally, volunteers had the opportunity to pitch in at campground sites in Essex, Warren and Hamilton counties, cleaning up campgrounds, removing debris and planting trees. Volunteers spruced up Scaroon Manor, including gathering litter and debris, raking leaves and clearing tree limbs. Participants also potted trees and placed picnic tables at each camping site. DEC Public Outreach Specialist Erin Hanczyk said the site coordinator at Scaroon Manor had planned for 50 volunteer spots and had filled 25 spots as of May 2. “We usually see more of an influx of sign-ups the week of the event,” she said. This is the second year of the program. In Essex County, volunteers fanned out to Crown Point Campground and the Paradox Lake Campground for cleanup and planting efforts. The Lake George Beach/Million Dollar Beach in Lake George was also the site of improvement efforts. Last year, the state parks had about 8,000 volunteers sign up statewide, and this year just over 5,000 preregistered to help clean up park lands and beaches, plant trees, restore trails and wildlife habitats, remove invasive species and work on various site improvements. ■

Thoughts from Behind the Pressline
Sticks and stones
Grandma Grotecelli always said, “Sticks and stones will break your bones, but names can never hurt you.” By Dan Alexander Back then, kids • PUBLISHER • could be mean and say awful things. As kids, we were told to follow the example of adults who knew better and would never stoop to such childish behavior as name calling. We were taught to ignore those who couldn’t solve conflicts any other way than to resort to name calling and by ignoring them, they would soon realize you were completely unphased by their words. Their goal was to bring you down to their level to create a verbal or physical reaction. It’s not just those who are doing the name calling these days who are acting badly, but just as bad are those who stoop to the level of the filthy mouthes, calling for the offender’s hides by demanding punishment. Those doing the name calling got exactly what they wanted. They drew attention to themselves, and they successfully perpetuated the long-standing feud between the left and the right with new ammunition. It’s unfortunate how low people will go to stir up trouble while others are quick to join in the rumble. Both Valarie Jarrett and Ivanka Trump are to be commended for taking the high road by not giving in to responding. Ms. Jarrett merely commented that it’s time to demand better, while Ms. Trump chose not to dignify the remarks by commenting. Their disciplined and courageous refusal to engage should set an example of how best to deal with disrespectful and vulgar people who lack common decency. As for the rest of those who chose to dive into the retribution field demanding an eye for an eye, well you just took the bait; hook, line, and sinker. America is far too full of anger and hatred these days, and by responding to such disrespectful language, they gave both parties exactly what they wanted by allowing their words to stir up further animosity in an already volatile environment. I was brought up to believe that fighting was not the way to settle a dispute. It was true 60 years ago, and it’s still true today. It’s one thing to take action when a bully is physically assaulting someone weaker, but names and words are harmless when you walk away. The best advice is not to associate or support those who lack respect for themselves and others. ■

PRINT Act to safeguard newspaper industry welcomed — but support is a two-way street
Six months after a pair of tariffs imposed by the Trump administration raised Canadian newsprint imports prices by roughly 30 percent, the ill-advised policies have begun to extract some scalps. The latest casualty is the Tampa Bay Times, which announced the elimination of 50 jobs in April as a direct result of the retaliatory trade measures. This year has already seen the evisceration of several prominent newsrooms, including the GateHouse-owned Florida Times-Union, the Sacramento Bee and the Denver Post, which drew a lacerating public rebuke from its staff following proposed layoffs despite healthy profit margins. Newspapers like the New York Times, Boston Globe and Washington Post, which have deep-pocketed investors and robust digital subscription models, have proven to be the exception rather than the rule. We’re heartened by bipartisan legislation sponsored by Maine senators Susan Collins and Angus King that would suspend the tariff. The PRINT Act would also call for the U.S. Department of Commerce to conduct a study of the American printing and publishing industry, which represents some 600,000 jobs nationwide. We urge U.S. Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand and Charles Schumer to support this legislation. It’s clear that these tariffs — which were implemented after a single hedge fundowned paper mill complained Canada unfairly subsidized newsprint manufacturing — will damage the U.S. newspaper industry. The toxic tariff threat comes when absentee hedge fund owners are devouring the industry, buying newspapers across the country when the industry continues to struggle to

Plattsburgh International Airport upgrades are not ‘critically needed’
To the Editor: With respect to the “Opinion From The Editorial Board” dated May 12, I take exception to the statement claiming New York state has been a champ funding “critical upgrades at the Plattsburgh International Airport.” The $92 million thrown at the airport is for Democratic votes and building where there is no market but it is “hoped for.” Just like it was “hoped for” PenAir would stay until SkyWest started at their leisure. None of this is “critically” needed or has

reverse declining advertising revenue, circulation and other market forces. The perfect storm comes when a free and independent media is more needed than ever. But while we reserve a special type of white-hot antipathy for hedge fund owners, they’re not the only culprits. The Salt Lake Tribune, for instance, was rescued from hedge fund ownership in 2016, but laid off 38 percent of their newsroom staff earlier this spring, citing declining circulation and ad revenue. The impacts have deep impacts for journalism in Utah, as the paper plans to eliminate state and local coverage news sections for much of the week. Those who don’t see the value in paying for local news also bear the responsibility for this disintegration of our collective civil fabric. In a recent conversation with a well-connected Albany insider, we shook our heads after they balked at how a Capital Region newspaper had shrunk in recent years, but admitted they weren’t a subscriber, and didn’t see the importance of paying for news. To us, that really encapsulates the other leading disconnect facing our industry right now: Everyone wants something for nothing. But what happens when that’s no longer an option? Facebook and Twitter will not cover the news deserts emerging across the U.S. Our reporters have covered numerous hard-hitting stories across the region in the past several weeks, including a controversial proposed code of conduct in Plattsburgh, a criminal Medicaid scheme that allegedly bilked the state of nearly $10 million in taxpayer dollars, and the scrutiny surrounding an embattled economic development official
a viable market here. So that is yours and my tax money that would be better spent on our infrastructure needs as you state in the opinion article. Trust me here and do some real investigative reporting. Have a reporter accompany me to the airport managers office, and lets ask some where-with-all questions, examine documents seeking all the airlines that have declined to service Plattsburgh and get into the facts. Maybe as an uncontrolled airport (no operating ground or tower control) real airlines have to stay away. Could be there may even be corruption to include the selection of the new FBO (Fixed Base Operator). You have a newsman privilege and duty to report facts. Geoffrey B. Barker, Plattsburgh ■

in Warren County. We’ve reported on the ongoing fallout surrounding Lake George School District’s decision to axe their assistant principal, and how changes to land use policy will affect visitors to the Adirondack Park. And through it all, we’re providing the best political coverage of this year’s historic midterm elections and regional sports coverage. Of course, community coverage is the bread and butter of what we do, and these pages are always full of ordinary people who do extraordinary things, as well as coverage of local meetings that allow you to make informed decisions in your communities, which in many cases, exist in a news desert and have no other sources of media. Need further evidence of the value of newspapers to civil society? Cities where newspapers shuttered saw increases in government costs as a result of the lack of scrutiny over local deals, according to researchers who tracked the decline of local news outlets between 1996 and 2015. “Disruptions in local news coverage are soon followed by higher long-term borrowing costs for cities,” CityLab reported last week. “Costs for bonds can rise as much as 11 basis points after the closure of a local newspaper — a finding that can’t be attributed to other underlying economic conditions.” This is particularly salient in cities like Plattsburgh, which faces significant — even existential — financial challenges. Have we convinced you yet? This isn’t the equivalent of shaking a tin cup, but supporting a local newspaper is a two-way street, and it’s time to have a public discussion over sustainability before it’s too late. ■ — The Sun Editorial Board
Trump lies lead to diminished American credibility
To the Editor: President Trump reported last week on “Fox & Friends” that illegal border crossings from Mexico are down over 40 percent. That is very impressive. The only problem is that, in reality, illegal border crossings are actually up 20 percent since he became president. Last month, the number of illegal crossings were triple the number from April 2017. Does it matter that the President of the United States makes statements that are not true? I contend that it does matter. People who lie lose their credibility. Other people soon learn that liars

In addition, when a national emergency hits the United States, the president must speak to the country and call for a unified response. How can Donald Trump do that if he has no credibility? How can he be an effective commander in chief if anyone in service knows that Trump is often ignorant of the facts? I invite other readers to consider this as American citizens, not as Republicans or Democrats. Does it matter if the president makes statements which are not true? Lake George Veterans Memorial christened Chris Gibson calls for civility, unity By Thom Randall STA FF W RITER
LAKE GEORGE | Pleas for unity, peace and responsible citizenship were heard by about 120 area residents recently as they witnessed the dedication of the new Lake George Veterans Memorial plaza. Guest speaker at the May 19 event, former U.S. Congressman Chris Gibson, said in the ceremony that citizens who enjoy the fruits of democracy should bear the responsibilities of our political system. “Our founding fathers put the sovereignty not in a king and queen but in each one of us,” Gibson said, noting that the most important office in our political system is the office of each citizen. “As self-governing people, we not only have rights, we also have responsibilities,” he continued. Gibson, a retired U.S. Army Colonel, then voiced a traditional Memorial Day theme. “We’re here today to acknowledge the men and women who have donned the uniform and have defended our nation’s principles and this incredible way of life,” he said.
GIBSON COMMENDS FALLEN SOLDIERS
Gibson recognized those soldiers who died as a result of their service to the nation, noting that the families of U.S. Army Specialist Ben Osborn and Army National Guard medic Kristie Roberts were represented in the audience. Osborn, 27, died during combat in 2010, and Roberts passed away in 2012 at the age of 27 after a decade of military service. A charitable foundation was established in Osborn’s name — and the Warren County Bikeway bridge over state Route 149 was dedicated in Roberts’ name. “There is nothing we can ever say or do that fills the hole in these families — but what we can do is pledge that every day we’re going to give our best to make our country stronger and our communities better, because that’s how we can honor those who have died for our country, Gibson said. Gibson also said that we should reach out to those who were wounded either physically in battle or emotionally scarred by combat. “No one of us who fought overseas was the same person when we came back,” he said advising that civilians should pray and embrace those with such emotional scars. “We should put our arms around them and give them loving support.” Gibson also noted that with the nation now so politically polarized, we should all seek unity, mutual respect, and
Warren County Sheriff’s office arrest activity
LAKE GEORGE | On June 4, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Cassandra Martin, 27, following a lengthy police investigation regarding the sale of crack cocaine in the Town of Queensbury. Martin, of 1 Third Ave., Apt 2, Hudson Falls, was charged with one count of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony, and one count of criminal possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree, a class B felony.
BRIEFS
Former U.S. Rep. Chris Gibson advises citizens attending the recent dedication of the Lake George Veterans Memorial to shoulder the responsibilities of democracy that accompany its benefits. Photo by Thom Randall embrace upstanding values. “This is not an easy time for our country — There is so much division, angst, concern and anxiety,” he said. “It’s very important we keep faith — in God, ourselves, in our families and this exceptional way of life. It’s now incumbent for our generation to do everything we can to carry forward that mantle of freedom — I believe we will, and days like this demonstrate that tangibly,” he concluded. Located at the intersection of Route 9 and Luzerne Road near Northway Exit 21, the Lake George Veterans Memorial plaza honors veterans of all wars and conflicts — not only those hailing from Lake George, but from surrounding communities and elsewhere. Master of Ceremonies for the event was retired local real estate broker and electrician Denny Galloway, who served in World War II. Galloway spearheaded its development along with fellow veterans Chuck Wheeler and Dan Hurley who is a Lake George councilman.
Martin was arraigned in Queensbury Court and remanded to the Warren County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond for bail pending future court appearances. The sheriff’s office is investigating possible additional drug related felony charges against Martin regarding the sale of crack cocaine in the City of Glens Falls. This case was investigated by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Enforcement Unit assisted by the New York State Police and the Glens Falls Police Department. ■

Public asked to join Chester Economic Development Initiative
CHESTER | Four action committees have been formed as part of the Town of Chester’s Economic Development Initiative. Each of the committees will meet weekly on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the North Warren Chamber office in Chestertown. The four action committees detail the creative economy, housing, town aesthetics and people. The first session was held June 6, and the second is scheduled for Wednesday, June 13. The group will identify existing available housing inventory; identify housing needs by type and identify grant and loan opportunities for property
At the ceremony, Galloway thanked those who donated toward the plaza which includes granite monuments, flags, benches, landscaping and brick walkways — or helped in its construction. “Hundred of volunteer hours went into constructing this memorial,” he said. “If there’s a veteran in our life, take time to think about them and what they did,” Galloway added. Community pillar William Dow, owner of the Lake George Steamboat Co., also offered his thoughts about those who dedicated their lives to serving the nation. Sacred Heart Catholic Church pastor Thomas Berardi concluded the ceremony with the formal dedication. “May this memorial be a tribute to those men and women who have served our nation in the cause of peace and protection — and the vision of liberty and justice,” he said. “Let this memorial express a tribute to sacrifice, to honor, to courage, to freedom, and to hope and peace for tomorrow’s children.” ■

The Word of Life Bible Institute will host Worship in the Adirondacks, an outdoor Christian music festival, on June 29-30. Shown are images from last year’s event, including Jason Fowler and Love Collides. Photos provided workshops, food trucks and vendors. There will be activities for families and children including inflatables, climbing tower, archery tag and trail rides. WOL held its first Worship in the Adirondacks music festival in September 2016. According to Headlee, the first festival was rather last minute, and moved to WOL after the venue in Lake George fell through. Last year, the event was moved to the WOL campus in Pottersville and scheduled to happen just before the start of the camp season.
Friday’s lineup includes Union of Saints & Sinners, Austin French, Matt Hammitt & Band, Seventh Time Down, Unspoken, We Are Messengers, and For King & Country. Saturday’s lineup includes the J.J. Weeks Band, Austin French, Love Collide, Zach Williams, and Jeremy Camp. The schedule includes speakers and yet to be named performers. On both nights at 10:30 p.m. there will be a late night worship with a band to be announced. ■

“It’s a big way to kick off the summer and get camp started,” Headlee said. According to Headlee this is one of the biggest events in the region, and will attract an estimated 3,000 to 4,000 guests per day. “The big reason, with everything we do, is to share the Gospel — to share Jesus,” he said. Tickets are currently $59 per adult for the two day event, and $44 for youths ages 5 to 12. Children 4 and under are free. Prices are subject to change. Group discounts for 10 or more are available.
