Is Your Child Living With Asthma?
Public parks and recreation systems are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for millions of residents in communities around the world through recreation programming, leisure activities and conservation efforts. Public parks, recreation activities and leisure experiences provide opportunities for young people to live, grow and develop into contributing members of society; create lifelines and continuous life experiences for older members of the community; generate opportunities for people to come together and experience a sense of community; and, pay dividends to communities by attracting business and jobs and increasing housing values. As we observe Recreation and Parks Month, we recognize the vital contributions of employees and volunteers in public parks and recreation facilities. These dedicated supporters keep public parks clean and safe for visitors, organize youth activities, provide educational programming on health, nutrition, first aid and
gardening, advocate for more open space and better trails, and fundraise for local improvements. They ensure that public parks and recreation facilities are safe and accessible places for all citizens to enjoy. THEREFORE, THE NATIONAL RECREATION AND PARK ASSOCIATION does hereby proclaim the month of July as Recreation and Parks Month. We call upon public park and recreation supporters to join us in recognizing the importance of our nation’s public parks and recreation facilities and to learn more about how to support the places that bring our communities a higher quality of life, safer places to play and healthy alternatives through recreation programming for everyone. WE DO ALSO RESOLVE that during Recreation and Parks Month all citizens enjoy what their community has to offer by taking part in their favorite sports, visiting the outdoors, spending time with family and friends or just relaxing.

Dwight & Nicole (Perkins Pier)
Tim Van Egmond (Storyteller/Folksinger)
Blending deep rooted blues, soul, folk, and rock Dwight & Nicole conjure old souls with their brand new classic sound. American recording artists DWIGHT & NICOLE (Dwight Ritcher and Nicole Nelson) have inspired comparisons to some of the greats: Etta James & John Lee Hooker, The Rolling Stones & The Staple Singers, but it is their fresh blend of spirited blues, rock & gospel that is landing them their own spot among the celebrated music makers. Riding a surge of accolades following their soulful 2010 release !Signs, they have just appeared on the Boston Globe’s “25 Most Stylish” list for 2011 and have been nominated for 5 Boston Music Awards and 3 Boston Phoenix awards. Their live shows are equally celebrated. Dwight & Nicole have been featured at the Life is Good Festival, Tanglewood & Montreal Jazz Festivals, and at premier clubs in the Northeast including the Somerville Theatre in Boston, MA, and the prestigious Blue Note in NYC.
Tim Van Egmond built his first hammered dulcimer in 1973, and has been playing ever since. As a solo performer, he's played for weddings, memorial services and other special events, led workshops at various dulcimer festivals, and incorporated the dulcimer into his programs as a storyteller and folksinger. As a member of the contra dance band Swallowtail he's performed nationwide, including performances for the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History and "A Prairie Home Companion" on NPR. He's also performed for hundreds of concerts and educational programs throughout New England as half of the folk music duo Yankee Notions. The 40th Army Band (Waterfront Festival Site)

A tradition of excellence began in 1907 when the band was organized at Brattleboro as the 1st Infantry Band, later becoming part of the 172nd Infantry, 43rd Division. During World War II, the band served with the 43rd Division in the South Pacific. The band distinguished itself in both its musical and combat abilities. Currently, the band enjoys its home station in their custom-designed, state-of-the-art facilities in the Green Mountain Armory at Camp Johnson in Colchester. In addition to performing in concerts and in parades all across the Green Mountain State, the 40th Army Band has had the honor of performing at the arrival ceremonies for the President of Macedonia in 2009 and the President of Senegal in 2010. The Brass Ensemble played the National Anthem at Fenway Park for the Boston Red Sox in 2010 and 2011. First Lady Michelle Obama visited Vermont in 2011 and received a musical welcome from the 40th Army Band’s Ira Allen Jazz Combo. Strolling Entertainment at Waterfront Park

She is a stilter who learned her craft as a member of the Bread and Puppet Theater, of which she is still a part of. Bread and Puppet Theater is one of the oldest, nonprofit, self-supporting theatrical companies in the country; its’ home is in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont!
Christopher Yerling “Hoopoe” He specializes in the silent treatment while providing his strolling mime entertainment in traditional white and black make-up and mime costume. Guests will be amused by his silent interactions and witty mockeries. Christopher Yerling may also be mistaken for a mechanical man at times when he performs his Man or Machine act. He had his first appearance in 1972 at age 16 and has been performing in the New England and Connecticut River Valley area since.
