INTRODUCTION

Tooth loss is a very common problem these days. One must take care of oral health otherwise, it can become the cause of tooth loss and other dental related problems. However, there are mainly five factors that cause tooth loss.


Smoking

Smoking can cause severe damage to teeth. It is one of the most common reasons for tooth loss. Smokers are twice as likely to lose teeth as nonsmokers.


Poor Nutrition

Lack of certain nutrients in the diet can cause tooth loss. Calcium is responsible for mineral density of bone supporting the teeth. Decreased calcium intake increases the risk of tooth loss.


Diabetes

People who are suffering from diabetes are more susceptible to dental problems. They are more likely to have infections of their gums.


Gum Disease

Gum diseases like Periodontal disease result in inflammation of gums, damaging the ligament followed by loss of supporting bone and ultimately results in tooth loss.


Rheumatoid Arthritis

If you are suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis, then there are chances that you may suffer tooth loss.
