In fact, these heifers will have not one, but several generations of performance A.I. breeding behind them. In addition, the Spanel’s put great care into the selection of their herd bulls. It isn’t uncommon to see both Shane and Becky at the ranch a week or two before the bull sale, studying and making notes on their favorite bulls in each pen. For instance, the herd bulls behind these good heifers have an average weaning EPD of +70, yearling EPD of +116, and boast weaning figures of over 745 lbs! If you are serious about performance genetics, these heifers need to be put at the top of your list.

Gary purchased these heifers as calves in the 2014 Krebs Ranch Bull Sale. He AI’ed the entire group to Barstow Cash and followed that up with a top son of Bullseye. Every heifer is sired by a son of the noted Krebs Ranch female sire, Hammer. If you drive through the registered cows at Krebs Ranch, you will see a ton of young females sired by Hammer…we love the kind of cows they are making. Health History: Fall: 1st round of Scour-‐guard given and poured with Ivomec Comments: We are pleased welcome Rick to the Fall Round-‐Up Sale. Lot 17 – Pen______ Consigner: Hinn Ranch, Rushville, NE. Tess Hinn 308-‐327-‐2832 Consignment: 50 bred heifers
Genetics: Straight Angus. Sired by sons of Payweight, Clark & Brave. Brands: 1 brand / home raised Breeding Information: Synchronized and AI’ed to the $11,500.00 KR Identity who has EPD’s of BW: 0.5 WW 60 YW 107. The same bull was turned out for natural service, after AI. Due Date: Pregnancy tested by Dr. Jeff Erquiaga. Heifers safe AI are due February 17th, 2015. When pregnancy tested, the Dr. Erquiaga reported that the heifers are either AI safe, or will calve on the next cycle. The bull was with the heifers until August 1st. Health History: Fall: 1st Scour Guard given and poured with Ivomec Comments: Here is an opportunity to purchase heifers from the heart of the Hinn Ranch replacements. The Hinn Ranch herd is a reputation program well known in the Sandhills for quality cattle. There are generations of performance AI breeding behind these girls, with decades of Krebs Ranch genetics. These 50 heifers were originally kept as replacements by Tess, but because of limited labor resources during calving season, the decision was made to reduce the number of bred heifers that had been kept. This is a gate cut, right out of the keepers, and then sorted for uniformity and kind. These cattle aren’t offered to the public very often…opportunity knocks. Heifers are already cake broke.
A Few Things to Think About….
1. Beef numbers are down…but, beef quality is UP!!! Why? Because of YOU and the quality of genetics you have invested in! 2. In a recent discussion on the future of the cattle prices, President of the AgRescource Company, Dan Basse, was quoted as saying “The market is screaming for feeder calves. It’s going to take 5 to 7 years for herd rebuilding to catch up with demand.” During this period, “Cows hold the opportunity.”
3. Scott Brown, Ag Economist with the University of Missouri, said that during the rebuilding phase of our national cowherd...it will pay to focus on building quality, not just quantity. He points to the fact that cheaper proteins, such as pork and chicken, are only considered substitutes for lower cheaper beef such as ground beef and lower grade steaks. While, higher quality, more expensive cuts of beef have no real substitute. The point is…our customers, the beef consumer, wants quality beef and is willing to pay extra for that quality, whatever the cost. 4. Certified Angus Beef Vice-‐President, Mark McCully adds, “Consumers are still willing to pay more for our brand (ANGUS) of higher quality beef. History has proven it, and predictions for the future support the idea that if you aim your herd for that target, you will be rewarded.

Dr. Finney reported that the heifers are either safe AI, or will calve on the next cycle. Health History: Fall: 1st Scour Boss 9 given, Poured with Ivomectin, Vibro-‐Shield 4 VL5 Comments: This is Todd and Brady’s first year in the Fall Round-‐Up Sale, and they’re putting their best foot forward by offering you the very top cut of 45 heifers, hand selected, out of 250 replacements bred and kept by Graff Ranch. These heifers are maternal in their kind, but bred with performance in mind. In fact, the steer mates to these females have been purchase by the same buyer for back to back years, who tell us that the steers always achieve a high rate of gain with limited feed resources. Heifers have been pelvic measured.
